Good Start; 6-Max Or Not?by AutumnSolace, January 22
I'm playing 0.01/0.02 right now, played a bit in 0.02/0.05 but down too much to even commit myself to that. Started with $25 and overall I played good, getting to $30 pretty fast but then making some seriously dumb mistakes which took me all the way down to $6. Well, slowly and carefully I'm climbing the ladder and am brushing the $10 mark, going to get my $25 back. But the thing I just want some advice/input on is I've been doing 6-Max tables. Is this bad to start on?
I've been reading and trying to learn how to play, and I don't know if 6 max is where I should start. What should be the deciding factor whether I do 6 max or not? Also is $3 (Standard buyin for 0.01/0.02) be what I bring in? I see an awful lot of people coming in with only $1. Any input/etc be appreciated.
dont drink and walk..........by PowerHausAA, January 22
been pretty damn lazy all week.........played about 3 hours today and that was about it. i didn't really feel like getting a full 20+ table session going so i settled for 4 x PLO100. i was actually playing a bunch of PLO200 then thought better of it. bankroll got punked last week and im gonna have to grind a day or two of PLO100 to get my 4k bonus released. it'd be pretty stupid to play 16 x PLO200 with absolutely nothing to back it up with. then i opened up 4 x NL25......my roommate has been grinding out NL10 for like 3 years (not as a living), and every time he plays NL25 he just gets whooped.......so i had to see for myself and i gotta say, NL25 is an absolute joke. if i could do like 50 tables of NL25 i think i can bang out like at least 500bux/day. im going to show him the way so he can do nothing all day just like me.
so quick story from yesterday........every year we do a ski trip to windham(upstate NY) to one of my buddies time share. usually my friend amanda and i are in charge of food for the weekend. she is an amazing cook and i just pretend i know what im doing. we decided that we were going to cook the duck dish from obama's inaugural brunch. so on to the duck hunt........my bartender says "oh hey i know a specialty store that might have it". so we go out during the day, grab some lunch and ended up not finding it. so instead we stop in at a bar and drank all day. she had been searching for an apartment and received a call for one, so we go and look it. she insists on having a champagne toast (although we shoulda quit hours ago)..........we go to a nearby bar......no champagne, replace champagne with yager.............BOOOOOOOOM SWITCH! it's now rush hour and people are getting off left and right from the subway, and i'm basically carrying her back (a 2 minute walk turned into 15 min). we're about 10 feet away from her apartment and WHAM! she falls with full momentum into the bottom of a light pole (a girl walking by almost had a heart attack when she saw, but quickly walked away). i totally freak thinking she had a concussion or was bleeding, but she maintains consciousness(barely, and mostly alcohol induced). a guy helps me pick up her gloves and goes "good luck man". so i finally manage to get her upstairs where she insta-passes out and i get some ice on her head and wait at the bar downstairs for her brother to come back. for the first time in a very long time i was genuinely scared for there physical health and it was quite scary as i feared that she could've had internal bleeding or something crazy. she finally woke up at like 3pm today and i found out she was ok, thankfully! she apologized, lol, god only knows how many times ive been carried home so it's all good, but the moral of the story............
quick thought on inauguration........i supported mccain but i am overjoyed for everyone whom it meant so much for obama to be president. michelle and barack's dance to beyonce's at last was a real classy and historical moment that brought full circle to all those people that made this country what it is........never forget/take for granted the price people have paid in the past for the freedoms we enjoy now.
im still very immature and found this to be outlandishly hilarious (0:10)............
ahhhhahahahhahahahah i cant stop laughing
i guess im just going to give myself the rest of the week/weekend off as far as poker goes........should have some fun/drunk pics from ski trip over weekend. i'm off to karaoke night(which should get ugly).......oh and for all the NYC LPer's, i would love to grab drinks/get crazy/debaucherous/break shit/douche it up/lower women's self esteem ect........
i also read that [vital]myth is quite a chef.......how about a IRON DEGENERATE CHEF SHOWDOWN?
i fucking hate NL50 FR. It's nothing but 6/6 regs and nearly impossible to get on alot of good tables because the fucking waitlists are always 5 deep. i just instaquit a session after about 20 minutes because every goddam nit reg 3 bet me every time i fucking raised and there weren't many fish at all (not full stacked atleast).
on a positive note im up plenty at NL50 6max (running about 8bb/100, but only running at 4bb/100 at NL50 FR (i really only make money late at night or on weekends @ FR ).
the nittiness of NL50 FR gives me a fucking headache.
/rant... i think im just gonna go drunk bowling with friends tonight instead of playing poker because i think it's one of those nights where i'm just not going to play well

Hi everyone i would just like to introduce myself as i am new here. Okay firstly my name is Luke Gregory, i am 20 years of age and can be found at Pokerstars under the name of TizmoUK.
I have been playing poker on and off for around 2 years and have my friend Mayzerg to thank for helping me catch the bug. Since then i have played unsuccessfully online but have also frequently played at my local casino where i have made several final tables and my best finish to date is 2nd. Although playing this long i have never really tried to build my roll while implementing bank roll management and going too deep into strategy.
Now thanks to Mayzerg i have started to be strict on myself and started applying the strategy i have read in books and following advice from him and other players. This has helped me start building my roll from 10$ to $100. However i am currently in a downswing and am at just under 70$.
As you can tell im at the micro limits at the moment and am playing at the 2c/5c tables. I am eager to learn as much as possible about the game and am eager to build my roll as much as i can. You should see me blog quite frequently in the future posting hands and why i played it the way i did. Hopefully you can help me by giving me feedback and showing me where i go wrong.
Been bouncing around between STTs and Cash. Grinding the $6.50 turbos. I'm not sure which I like more. The 9 mans or the 6 mans? I started to get bored of those and moved to NL25 cash.
Yesterday I ran decent and won 2 buy ins. Today I'm running like absolute crap. I'm sure my play is less than optimal but it's been really, really bad. I need to stop trying to out play these people and just play solid. That seems more profitable.
I subscribed to deucescracked. They have a ton of 6max NL videos. Are there any authors or series that anyone on here likes in particular? Please let me know. So far I've been watching the Baby Steps series and it seems pretty good.
I'm gonna go to the gym now and let off some steam. Hopefully when I come back I run better and get back some of the rape I just took over the last 500 hands.
Learned a shitload for university
tomorrow i have a very important test in statistics.
its about linear and binar logistic regression analysis, data reduction methods and some other stuff.
I learned a shitload for this however i am not sure if i will manage to do good in the tests tomorrow
The test is on a computer and consists of 90 minutes.

Besides that i didnt train much MMA the last weeks either ...
( yeha fuck university consumes all my time)
here is the flyer for the show.
I think it will be pretty cool to see them fight ( however i a abit sad i cant fight myslef
Adrian Basca ( Romania) is one of my trainers who especially trains our MMa fighters in lowkicks
Alex Dechant ( Russia) is a pretty cool guy from russia who was mainly a Boxer ( he has ~ 70-5 amateur record in Boxing) before he got into MMA.
Romica ( Romania .. it shows german as nation but the guy is Romanian and can speak like a maximum of 5 words german ^^) is one of the funniest guys alive.
he gets insta drunk as soon as he has 1 beer
And the next day he feels guilty and trains liek a madman ...
These 3 guys were also fighting in Poland when i had my MMa fight back then.
After the fight we went out to the clubs and had some fun.
Romica drunk his first drink and was insta in delirium ( lol i didnt believe it but he was insta drunk)
We had to bring him back to the hotel since he had a hard time not going crazy ^^
Rest of the crew partied hard and got pretty drunk
Next day we wake up at the hotel and hear some noise of something kicking vs metal
Our trainer enters teh room and smiles.
We are like wtf is happening.
Well romica is up since 6 a clock in the moring and he has been training for 2 hours so far ...
We all were like : WTF the guy had fought yesterday in teh ring >_< and now next day he starts training at 6 o in the morning clock ...
the guy is crazy
Overall i got back into shape a bit the last weeks , too.
due to university i couldnt train much but did
jogging 1x week
swimming 3x week
Body work excercise 3x week 1h( pushups,dips etc.)
MMA 1 time week2 hours.
I am nowhere near my peak shape ... but its much better than 1 month ago when i was at the bottom.
i finally feel the strength of my body again which is a nice feeling.
when university tests are over in 2 weeks i will start MMA again and train 3-4x week in februar/march and probably 5-6 times in april -> i will probably fight in Coburg in may if everything goes as planned.

The Obama administration called on Thursday for the closure of Guantanamo Bay within the next year. The move will be greeted with widespread approval around the world, the end of a blotch on America's image abroad. Coming in the form of an executive order, it carries with it the power of law.
By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, in order to effect the appropriate disposition of individuals currently detained by the Department of Defense at the Guantánamo Bay Naval Base (Guantánamo) and promptly to close detention facilities at Guantánamo, consistent with the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States and the interests of justice, I hereby order as follows:
Section 1. Definitions. As used in this order:
(a) "Common Article 3" means Article 3 of each of the Geneva Conventions.
(b) "Geneva Conventions" means:
(i) the Convention for the Amelioration of the Condition of the Wounded and Sick in Armed Forces in the Field, August 12, 1949 (6 UST 3114);
(ii) the Convention for the Amelioration of the Condition of Wounded, Sick and Shipwrecked Members of Armed Forces at Sea, August 12, 1949 (6 UST 3217);
(iii) the Convention Relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War, August 12, 1949 (6 UST 3316); and
(iv) the Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, August 12, 1949 (6 UST 3516).
(c) "Individuals currently detained at Guantánamo" and "individuals covered by this order" mean individuals currently detained by the Department of Defense in facilities at the Guantánamo Bay Naval Base whom the Department of Defense has ever determined to be, or treated as, enemy combatants.
Sec. 2. Findings.
(a) Over the past 7 years, approximately 800 individuals whom the Department of Defense has ever determined to be, or treated as, enemy combatants have been detained at Guantánamo. The Federal Government has moved more than 500 such detainees from Guantánamo, either by returning them to their home country
more
(OVER)

or by releasing or transferring them to a third country. The Department of Defense has determined that a number of the individuals currently detained at Guantánamo are eligible for such transfer or release.
(b) Some individuals currently detained at Guantánamo have been there for more than 6 years, and most have been detained for at least 4 years. In view of the significant concerns raised by these detentions, both within the United States and internationally, prompt and appropriate disposition of the individuals currently detained at Guantánamo and closure of the facilities in which they are detained would further the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States and the interests of justice. Merely closing the facilities without promptly determining the appropriate disposition of the individuals detained would not adequately serve those interests. To the extent practicable, the prompt and appropriate disposition of the individuals detained at Guantánamo should precede the closure of the detention facilities at Guantánamo.
(c) The individuals currently detained at Guantánamo have the constitutional privilege of the writ of habeas corpus. Most of those individuals have filed petitions for a writ of habeas corpus in Federal court challenging the lawfulness of their detention.
(d) It is in the interests of the United States that the executive branch undertake a prompt and thorough review of the factual and legal bases for the continued detention of all individuals currently held at Guantánamo, and of whether their continued detention is in the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States and in the interests of justice. The unusual circumstances associated with detentions at Guantánamo require a comprehensive interagency review.
(e) New diplomatic efforts may result in an appropriate disposition of a substantial number of individuals currently detained at Guantánamo.
(f) Some individuals currently detained at Guantánamo may have committed offenses for which they should be prosecuted. It is in the interests of the United States to review whether and how any such individuals can and should be prosecuted.
(g) It is in the interests of the United States that the executive branch conduct a prompt and thorough review of the circumstances of the individuals currently detained at Guantánamo who have been charged with offenses before military commissions pursuant to the Military Commissions Act of 2006, Public Law 109-366, as well as of the military commission process more generally.
Sec. 3. Closure of Detention Facilities at Guantánamo. The detention facilities at Guantánamo for individuals covered by this order shall be closed as soon as practicable, and no later than 1 year from the date of this order. If any individuals covered by this order remain in detention at Guantánamo at the time of closure of those detention facilities,

they shall be returned to their home country, released, transferred to a third country, or transferred to another
United States detention facility in a manner consistent with law and the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States.
Sec. 4. Immediate Review of All Guantánamo Detentions.
(a) Scope and Timing of Review. A review of the status of each individual currently detained at Guantánamo (Review) shall commence immediately.
(b) Review Participants. The Review shall be conducted with the full cooperation and participation of the following officials:
(1) the Attorney General, who shall coordinate the Review;
(2) the Secretary of Defense;
(3) the Secretary of State;
(4) the Secretary of Homeland Security;
(5) the Director of National Intelligence;
(6) the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; and
(7) other officers or full-time or permanent part-time employees of the United States, including employees with intelligence, counterterrorism, military, and legal expertise, as determined by the Attorney General, with the concurrence of the head of the department or agency concerned.
(c) Operation of Review. The duties of the Review participants shall include the following:
(1) Consolidation of Detainee Information. The Attorney General shall, to the extent reasonably practicable, and in coordination with the other Review participants, assemble all information in the possession of the Federal Government that pertains to any individual currently detained at Guantánamo
and that is relevant to determining the proper disposition of any such individual. All executive branch departments and agencies shall promptly comply with any request of the Attorney General to provide information in their possession or control pertaining to any such individual. The Attorney General may seek further information relevant to the Review from any source.
(2) Determination of Transfer. The Review shall determine, on a rolling basis and as promptly as possible with respect to the individuals currently detained at Guantánamo, whether it is possible to transfer or release the individuals consistent with the national security and foreign policy interests

of the United States and, if so, whether and how the Secretary of Defense may effect their transfer or release. The Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of State, and, as appropriate, other Review participants shall work to effect promptly the release or transfer of all individuals for whom release or transfer is possible.
(3) Determination of Prosecution. In accordance with United States law, the cases of individuals detained at Guantánamo not approved for release or transfer shall be evaluated to determine whether the Federal Government should seek to prosecute the detained individuals for any offenses they may have committed, including whether it is feasible to prosecute such individuals before a court established pursuant to Article III of the United States Constitution, and the Review participants shall in turn take the necessary and appropriate steps based on such determinations.
(4) Determination of Other Disposition. With respect to any individuals currently detained at Guantánamo whose disposition is not achieved under paragraphs (2) or (3) of this subsection, the Review shall select lawful means, consistent with the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States and the interests of justice, for the disposition of such individuals. The appropriate authorities shall promptly implement such dispositions.
(5) Consideration of Issues Relating to Transfer to the United States. The Review shall identify and consider legal, logistical, and security issues relating to the potential transfer of individuals currently detained at Guantánamo to facilities within the United States, and the Review participants shall work with the Congress on any legislation that may be appropriate.
Sec. 5. Diplomatic Efforts. The Secretary of State shall expeditiously pursue and direct such negotiations and diplomatic efforts with foreign governments as are necessary and appropriate to implement this order.
Sec. 6. Humane Standards of Confinement. No individual currently detained at Guantánamo shall be held in the custody or under the effective control of any officer, employee, or other agent of the United States Government, or at a facility owned, operated, or controlled by a department or agency of the United States, except in conformity with all applicable laws governing the conditions of such confinement, including Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions. The Secretary of Defense shall immediately undertake a review of the conditions of detention at Guantánamo to ensure full compliance with this directive. Such review shall be completed within 30 days and any necessary corrections shall be implemented immediately thereafter.
Sec. 7. Military Commissions. The Secretary of Defense shall immediately take steps sufficient to ensure that during the pendency of the Review described in section 4 of this order, no charges are sworn, or referred to a military

commission under the Military Commissions Act of 2006 and the Rules for Military Commissions, and that all proceedings of such military commissions to which charges have been referred but in which no judgment has been rendered, and all proceedings pending in the United States Court of Military Commission Review, are halted.
Sec. 8. General Provisions.
(a) Nothing in this order shall prejudice the authority of the Secretary of Defense to determine the disposition of any detainees not covered by this order.
(b) This order shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.
(c) This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.
working on my red linezzzzzzzzzzzzzzby whamm!, January 22
this year i plan on improving my overrall play in preparation for higher stakes where abc nit/tag don't really turn a very gratifying profit. i got a ton of leaks in the pots without showdown obv, so i have someone who will sweat me and try to hero up my play this year, poker has been very uninteresting these past few months and nitbotting has somewhat failed me long term, i def need to keep up with regs who are apparently getting better and i dont wanna lag behind too far this year. here's my first session (without being sweat yet) just tried to grow some balls first and just stick it to em when i feel im ahead or he's capable of a fold. well this is just 50nl for now to test it out. ran good too but im happy about my pots without showdown is at LEAST above water now, unlike before wherein both lines would spread out wide like a 50 dollar hooker always lol http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/016ace78e879c4ea33328244c556d98d.jpg
but when i have enough of learning i sit and play ( or lay in bed and play lol )
hmmm i tightened up a little, maybe cause too many light 3betors and i know i'll be 3betted often when i make too many raises ( esp OTB - folded to me vs 2 TAGs on blinds w/ 3bet: 7++ )
25/19/28 500 hands, but when we played this hand he was playing crazy on couple tables, i think he was tilting for 100 hands ( 100 first hands i got on him, first hand ai pf w/ 26o for 100bb ), still valuebet river, right?
So im off to Amsterdam for a long weekend with my girlfriend. Any advice on a good casino to check out? as central as posible would be nice as im on crutches atm . Im thinking of just watching some poker and maybe having a go with whatever euros i have left at the end
