Feb Result, March goalz by Night2o1, February 28

My goals for feb were:
60k+ Hands
nl100 reg status
2k+ profit

Things turned out pretty well. I've just finished my last hands before midnight, and time crosses over into march!

I hit just under 50k hands, so I missed that 60k hand goal, but I attribute it to 4tabling a large portion of the month while learning nl100. I think I definitely beat my nl100 reg status goal, though. I'm really comfortable here etcetc! So I am pleased with that. I also totally crushed my 2k profit goal, with a final total profit of $4677!

I've been on a little downswing since yesterday.. well a pretty big one considering my roll/total winnings, 4k -> 2.8k.. but its mostly because it was nl200. Ran like shit and dropped 5BI. Guess that isn't too bad. I played 2.5k hands 9tabling(lol bad idea but trying to grind a bonus) of nl100 since then and I've been getting kind of cold decked, but I've made a tiny profit. I'm just trying not to tilt to be honest.

I really should be ecstatic but I feel kind of meh right now, "in the moment" because of yesterday's bullshit and today's mediocre-ness. Overall, I'm very happy ^_________^

TBH I think during the shots I've taken at nl200 I should of been a winner, but obv its a tiny sample so there's variance + I don't know for sure of course.

For March, hm. Well I'm going to be in vegas for a week so I think 35k+ hands is a good goal.
I'd like to make 2k total profit.
And I'd like to be an nl200 reg. So I'm going to make sure I'm focusing on improving my game.
I'd also like to keep my expenditures below $450 while I'm at home, and I'd like to break-even atleast in vegas (I should make a big profit since I have like no expenses going there, so basically I'm praying not to run bad lol)

March goal:
35k+ Hands
Profit 2k+
Nl200 reg by April 1st
Budget $450

Thanks for reading, hope everyone's February went well and the same goes for March :D

Big thanks to Mayzerg and Uptown. I'd have more thanks, but you can kind of see how much I play nowadays, and those two happen to be on a lot.

PS: Last 700 hands is ALLLLLL uptown lol

Hopefully I can play more in March.

feb results + march goals by vlseph, February 28

so I did make the move to FTP since last month and when the Stars reload bonus came, I couldn't resist and put in $1000 there. I got bored of grinding SNGs towards the midway point of the month and went back to 6 max. I did take shots at NL50 on both sites since I was rolled near 20 buy-ins and it came out pretty bad. I then moved down to NL25 and I feel like I'm running pretty terrible here too. I managed to get breakeven for the last 10k hands, better than a more downwards trend I suppose.

I also did donk around some money on some PLO and FLO/8 games, and HORSE at the 1/2 stakes.

Here's cash games graph:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v468/vickter/feb.jpg

And for the past couple days I sat down and watched pr1nnyraiding and played a couple HU SNGs.
I took played a couple $10.50s on FTP and I'm doing very well here.
Here's my FTP SNGs results, the 500+ games mark is where I estimated I started playing the HU.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v468/vickter/DisplayGraph.png

So I realized I pretty much hate PokerStars. Their software is very good but it tilts me for some reason. I think it just looks too boring. I used to hate FTP but I love it now.
So I'm gonna really try and focus on FTP since it doesn't tilt me for whatever reason (except their lack of game filters) and play on Stars solely to get the bonus unlocked. I do need 3500 base FPPs more to earn the $250 bonus.

On another note I did achieve one of my Feb goals which is to hit one of the Iron Man levels for FTP.
I put in the time and hit their Gold level, so once I have enough medals saved up I do plan on taking advantage of it and buying the cash bonuses. It needs 3000 medals for $600, I think I'm getting 140 medals this month. It was pretty easy to get so next month I will definitely try and hit the Iron level by grinding out NL25. Need to earn $200 gross rake per day for 25 days of the month I believe, or just 200 FTPs (I think it's the same though, maybe not?).

So I realized I hate taking 20 buy-in shots cause I feel like I'm underrolled once I lose around 3 buy-ins and it affects me. I'm going to take 30 bi shots at NL50 once I get it, and move down once I lose 10 and regrind it. This should allow me to take a much longer shot at newer levels without letting short term variance get in the way and make me feel like I suck.

Also I'm starting to get the hang of heads up, I'm definitely going to be playing a lot more in March. Just the SNGs for now since I'm not rolled for NL50 hu. I'm going to keep playing at the $10.50 level til I feel really confident and know it's just not a heater, although I'm winning like 75% of the games right now (small sample though I think I've maybe played like 10-20).

Here are my March goals in a nutshell:
-hit Iron Man on FTP
-grind NL25 and hit $1500 then take a shot at NL50.
-maybe take a shot at NL50 hu as well
-play around w/ HU SNGs a little more
-PUT IN MORE TIME
-watch more DC videos
-don't fail another test

February: fail by Joe, February 28

This month was a fail as far as poker results go. I actually didnt even make profit, in fact I lost money this month, I ended up down -$3,311. Considering I played 10/20 mostly, its really just a small loss, but I am not quite used to having losing months. Its probably my 3rd losing month ever and I hope the 4th will not come up anytime soon.

What happenned is that basically variance struck down upon me. I ran above expectations in January, but way below expectations in February. As far as allin equity goes, I am running just slightly under it (like 4k or something) when I count January and February together. I dont think I played any worse than before overall, except maybe one session where I probably lost 2 buyins I didnt have to lose. So no worries, I am looking forward to the new month.

What pisses me off lately though is the fact that there is very little action on Microgaming's 10/20 NL tables and even 5/10 NL is not particularly active. I hoped that Ladbrokes joining microgaming will show significant increase of action at my stakes, but it didnt happen. I am not sure if Microgaming remains my main poker site for the future.

Anyway, the next week I am off to Budapest to play the Unibet Open 1,500 eur freezeout. Would be nice to hit some solid score, but the field is actually one of the toughest amongst similar live tournaments, so I will probably need some luck too. Then in late March I am considering going to Austria for the Pokernews Apline Cup tournament series. I think it might be a fun trip (pokering, skiing, drinking, ...) and some friends from Czech Republic are most likely going, so I might join them. Not sure yet though.

Thats it guys, hope you had better February than me.

February Results by MayZerG, February 28

OK, so my downswing officially ended the first week of the month and everything has been running smoothly since then, very disappointed with the breakeven stretch on 25nl during the downswing, and also my commitment overall, i usually put in 50-60k hands.

Targets for March:

PlatinumStar
Cash Games: +$1500
Tournaments: +$430 (2x 5400 FPP sats)

Results for February:

Cash Games: +$782
Tournaments: +$235

Adjusted: +$1017

So here's my stats for February! Once again thanks to DJForever/Shaneomac/MikeyMoo/David and others i keep in contact with over MSN. Goodluck for March!

february! by YoUr_KiLLeR, February 28

i spent the first few days in february trying fullring. i played 8-12 tables of 25nl and nut pedaled playing 12/10. it was very boring and with that many tables i get a tendency to go into robot mode.

so i went back to 6max and cut down to 4 tables (i was playing 6-8 before), and to all the fellow microstakers here, i really recommend cutting down on the number of tables to work on your game. at this level we're not worried about adding tables to increase our hourly or anything so theres no reason to play so many. i was stubborn before and felt i could play optimally with 6-8 but theres just so much more time to think hands through when youre only on 4.

while i didnt get very many hands in at all this month, i did address a couple of crucial postflop issues in my game and its helped a lot. what im most happy about is the increase in my W$WSF stat. its 41.8% now when it was always at 36-37% before.

monthly graph (first 4k hands or so were the hands at FR; all hands at 25nl):
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/2136/febx.png

my goals for march are to find more issues to fix about my game to become less weak-tight and hopefully be able to start taking 50nl shots.

thanks for reading and for the help in my threads everyone.

So solutions
A) Not checking PT3 til i get done with a session
B) If i think he's got a shot at the nuts...he's got thenuts...

February by RJ227, February 28

This was my first month playing cash primarily. I didn't really have any goals other than to make something and get acclimated.

I played roughly 55K hands at 20 NL, making $800 + another $320 or so in rakeback.

My cash br is at about $1400 now, I think I may take a shot at NL50, and move down if I fall to $1000.

March Goals-
60K hands
Become an NL50 reg
Make $2000 from my play and $750 in rakeback.
LOOSEN UP. I am a self described nit, playing about 14/11. I'd like to make it a point to raise more hands pf, like J8s, pocket pairs and the like. I think I'd be well served to become about 20/15.

Are my goals too lofty? Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks and GL,
RJ227

February by Fayth, February 28

I just came back from Vegas! only vacations obv with my girlfriend, I went to see "Le Rêve" which was really nice, I actually bought the "VIP Indulgence" package, which puts us on the best seats, more space, champagne and strawberries + chocolate and a waitress..... I really liked it

So well while being in vegas I played like 3 sesh on stars, ran like absolute shit, lost AA vs KK, lost 7 flips out of 8 for stacks, some more 20/80 so well it was only 5/10 and I only lost 10k, no big deal....

I still end the month up 130k, so i beat Ket... I think.. weeeee

My goal is to eventually make more than one of my friend (NegroVente1 on stars, RolandThetrault on FTP) but I can't seem to make it, he's such a fucking monster.....

so yeah, good month overall, I'm hoping to make over 100k in march yet again, and probably going to vegas with my gf and her parents at the end of march.... I actually really like vegas when it's not super ridiculously hot like in june/july/august

cheeeeeers! :D

February! by Bejamin1, February 28

February was a pretty intense poker month for me. I moved up to PLO100 for the first time and played very well, and then very poorly to finish up only 5 or so buy-ins for the month. I do however expect to be able to establish myself and consistently win 50+ buy-ins per month at this limit and continue my trek up to the higher stakes. After analyzing my game it can be said that I have lots of room to improve and that my downswing in the past 15 days or so has been largely self-inflicted.

However I did manage to achieve some of my goals posted in that February goals thread a while back.
1. Establish myself as a PLO100 Regular [x]
2. FT the weekly PLO215 [x] (Took a 3-Way chop for a 4.75k Score)
3. Have my first ever 5K month [x]

All and all not a bad month and I look to re-double my dedication to this game and keep getting better. Good luck LP run good in March one time!

no record month by remember87, February 28

I had the chance to get a new record month. I actually was at that point today but a nasty ending with AKvAA, AAvTT, QQvAA etc ruined it. Even if the result isnt the best so far I have played the best poker in my life so I am very happy. I feel I got a hunch how the game should be played and I think I can beat NL400. My goal is to beat NL400 now for a few months and then hopefully reach NL600 before the summer!

Totally in February I ran 22/18/3,7 over 19k hands and had a BB/100 of 4,3.
Online: +5k
RB: +600$
Live: -400$
Total of 5200$.

Im very satisfied with that!

Step 4 and end of February. by ConquistadoR, February 28

I'm done with NL10 now, and I just started my first small session of NL25. Play seems to be a lot different here, I hope I can succeed here too.
Here's the graph of first session:

http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/nl25firstsesh.png/1/w1124.png

Overall, February was very good, I grinded a LOT, I think it is definately the month with the most hands I ever played. I crushed NL2, NL5, and NL10, and now I am at NL25. I definately hope that I can make a good amount of $ at NL25 next month, in order to move up to NL50 soon.
Total feb, since I'm back on PS:

First blog post by Ottolink7, February 28

Hello Liquid poker.

I'm just getting into online poker and the purpose of this blog is to help me keep track of my progress. I find writing things down helps me think more clearly.

I'm starting poker because I have 6 months till I start at University and quite a lot of time on my hands, even after my real job. I'm basicly planning on substituting my Starcraft time for poker for a few months, and seeing how far I get. My goals are pretty modest, it would be nice to be able to use poker as a way to get a little extra cash in my pocket in a way that allows me to invest as much time as I want, when I want. I hope I will have some aptitude for it since I think I am patient, of reasonable intelligence and have good self control. Of course, by September I might simply find I can't make any reasonable money out of poker. If that is the case I will just give up.

So, from what I have read on this site and others, I think I have picked up some key points for how not to be a fish:

Bankroll management. I'm going to be playing 1$ no limit at first on titan poker. So my bankroll is many times larger than the buyins I have. Hopefully I won't go busto as I try to grind this amount up.

Don't be results oriented. My goal right now is just to improve my skill, not get cash. So I will try to worry more about whether I am playing a particular hand correctly, rather than whether I won or lost in that instance. Actually as a beginner I find it hard to judge whether I just got lucky or played well. I suppose I just need to have a many more 1000s of hands under my belt.

I'm not going to be playing too many tables at once, probably 3 or 4 at most. I'm not sure if at this stage I should be trying to make notes on the other players, perhaps that is a bit too cute for my level of play?

The one bit of my own money I have invested so is Ed Miller's book, “Get Started in hold em”. Should arrive early next week, so I am looking forward to that.
