So, right now I'm micro grinding, and I was wondering what the best site is as far as rake not being retarded. I want it to be something i can get rakeback....and i was gonna go to FTP when i got to NL25 but appearently they janked up their rake system to where it wouldnt be worth the effort to switch...
Just curious as to what sites have the lowest rake at micro stakes/all stakes, and have decent rakeback....cuz stars' rakeback=nothing so suck it...lol
hadn't played since last sunday when i made 3 final tables...ended up taking 3rd in the $55 1R/1A today for 7185 tonight. played really well all day with the exception of a 30 minute period where i tried punting my stack in everything basically...youre welcome for gifts in the $500 bigred.
january sucked pretty bad but february was alot better and im looking to top it again in march.
Feb Results Poker: +$12,341.29 Sports betting: +$12,126.00 Baby live MTTs/Roulette: -$3,500.00 Net: +$20,967.29
lol I recorded a 1 hr video playing and commentating 4 tables NL100, but I have hotkeys on F9, F10, F11 from tableninja that were overwritten by camstudio, so when I pressed F9 it stopped recording without me noticing lol!
Maybe it was for the best though since I lost like 2bi's during the recording hahaha. It was something like 350 hands of slowly losing monies + a cooler against a fish.
It's actually pretty fun for me so if pple like it I can see myself making more than one .
Positives:
I'm up thanks to the biggest NL5 pot ever and me having Aces
First time in a while I've had positive results at NL5
I had SO MUCH more discipline tonight. It was awesome. Go go march. Hopefully this gives me some confidence in my NL5 abilities lol.
Negatives:
Prolly not a negative, but I should be up about 15 bucks more, but I run bad alot, and as you saw on my previous blog, I did things right, and Stars said FUCK YOU ERIC EAT A BIG FAT COCK AND LIKE IT. So I did, and got back up.
This post is probably going to be somewhat long thanks to a lot of adderol, valium, and pot. Ill show my progress this year so far and discuss the results so far. Ill also talk about my goals for March. Ill probably talk about some school and fraternity stuff. Lastly ill post some youtube vids of my latest favorite jams, as well as a shout out to my compadre joeyp.
This year has been pretty good as far as poker is concerned, or at least my results have been good. The only bad thing about the year so far is my lack of grinding. Overall I feel I was running pretty well, but also played pretty well. I have been on a 10 buyin downer the last 6k hands, but I am not too worried. If I drop ~5 buyins more, I will most likely grind 50NL for awhile to maintain sanity. I will likely move up once I make 5k more, and cash out 1k of that to my savings acct. Here are screenshots of Jan+Feb: http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/5690/janfebnl.jpg
Lately I have been trying to talk poker more with people I know from 100/200 nl to help me plug any leaks I may have (pm me if you dont have my AIM and want to talk shop). I am also going to try to create a video (or a few for that matter) to have people critique. I may start looking into coaching, for a few sessions at least (if you know anyone good/cheap, pm me). I also am considering signing up for bluefirepoker since jman is like my hero. As far as cardrunners and leggopoker go, who are you guys' favorite 100-400NL pros?
School has been going ok so far. I am definitely not trying as hard as I should be, but I should at least nail a 3.0 this semester. My Psychology internship has been pretty fun so far. Its really cool working with professors and grad students away from the classroom. I have to give an IQ test in compilation with the experiment, and being curious of my own intelligence, I had a grad student give me the test. To my surprise, I scored a 131, which I guess is pretty awesome? I guess I havent killed that many braincells yet
The fraternity has been pretty bleh lately. Next year is our chapters 60th anniversary, so we are really trying to be the best we can over the next year in hopes of recieving some financial gifts from out alumni. Once this semester ends, I will be stepping down from Director of Academic Affairs, and will be taking over as Treasurer. I was Treasurer my first year here and it royally sucked. Despite my distaste for the position, I am going to be running for President 2010/2011 and need to learn all the financial changes that have occurred since I was last Treasurer. This should make the transition fairly easy as I already know and understand most aspects of the fraternity. 2010/2011 will be my last year as an undergrad, and I am actually going to stretch my last 18-21 credits across 2 semesters. I want to make sure we continue the progress we've made over the past semester.
There was one major incident in the fraternity when our deaf member (he has a cochlear implant so dont feel too bad yet) sent a text to national headquarters instead of his friend whos name was next in his contacts. What did this text contain you may ask? It stated "Yo, u kno where I can get keg, need good deal!", followed by "Oops wrong person LOL!" once he realized his mistake. No one has any idea why he was even looking for a keg in the first place. After the incident, chaos insued after national's response. Rumors and speculations pertaining to the future of our chapter. It was definitely a pain in the ass worrying about a Phonarch coming through and possibly crippling the chapter via expulsions and social punishments, but in the end everything was fine and no punishments were given.
Other than everything I have stated above, I have simply been living the dream, enjoying an arsenal of friends, women, music, booze, and drugs. Speaking of music, I wanted to talk about some of my latest favorites. Most of the songs arent new, so save the "thats so 1999" comments.
First ill start with who is definitely my favorite lyricist of all time. I chose not to say "rapper" due to the fact that his words and message are brilliantly put together. He does not rap about your typical hood bullshit, which I really admire. He goes by the name of, Lupe Fiasco. My favorite songs as of late are the following:
Dumb it Down - This is a great example of how he differs from the rest of the rap industry
Daydreamin' - Oldie but goodie
American Terrorist - severely underrated song
Put You On Game - Lupe's darkest song imo
Lil' Wyte - Doubt Me Now - As far as straight rap goes, I have really been loving this song lately. Its one of those songs that makes you feel like a b.a.m.f.
Explosions in the Sky - Your Hand in Mine - One of my all time favorite songs, its so sick I cant even describe it.
AFI - Death of Seasons Big change of pace lol, I really like AFI a ton, and this song is one of my favorites by them.
Lastly, I wanna give a shoutout to my homie JoeyP. Hes an awesome dude, and a genius when it comes to music. He rocked out last night for a bunch of us at a party and everyone was mesmerized. Here is his website, as well as a live performance of his song "Hydrogen." Biggie ups compadre
P.S. I am currently looking for a new laptop for poker. Screen reso must be 1920/1200, and it must have a 7200 or 10k rpm HD(dont think anyone makes 10k's for laptops tbh.) Other than that, it does not really matter to me. Obviously the cheaper the better. Please ship some suggestions, thanks
So March isn't being nice to me, i've lost 600 bbs at NL25 for 1000 hands already.
I'm cashing out my ftp/stars roll and leaving it at $500 on both sites and gonna grind NL10 til I hit $750 then go to NL25 again.
Ever since my downswing in NL50, I've lost $1000~ in cash games and a little bit more from tilting and trying out Omaha or w/e and donked off a little bit more money there.
Set over set, underpairs sucking out pf, runner runner boat w/ tp vs my set, running bad at its finest. See you other micro stakers there.

i dont get it how they take so much rake on 0.4 limit and 0.10 limit ...
i made like 130$ rake on 0.04 tables in 15 day period ..it was like more then my roll.
now new perido started still getting ass fucked on 10nl since i am running really terrible i made like 79$ rake first day ..wtf
Cant really complain about feb. I was up...decent win rate...last few days of it sucked cuz i run SO bad in NL5 its not even funny...I'm doing some tourneys right now to try and .... slow me down and make me pay more attention to what opps could have...and possibly not run full bore into traps and such...meh...its grindy time again...and im going to hardcore focus on NOT losing allins...i've done that way to much ....
Goals for March:
-BEAT NL5 (get 200 in br)
-Possibly beat NL10, at least get a good hold on it (would need to get to 500)
-If i get to NL25, transfer money over to fulltilt, get Rakeback, and get going :D
Hey guys, I havent posted in a long time. As you know im probably the biggest degenerate in the history of this site. My life hit rock bottom a few months back and I didnt have a dollar to my name. I was buried in a mountain of debt and became incredibly depressed. I was forced to suffer the humiliation and move back in with my parents. Unable to get a job in finance which is what my degree is in because of bad credit I just sat around all day and began intensive reading. I read probably 30-40 books in the period of a few months on topics such as philosphy, religion, physics, history, psychology etc. I began practicing Zen and started to feel empowered and full of confidence again. I hadnt had that feeling of supreme confidence in years. I started talking to old friends and one of them decided to have faith in me and stake me in 10nl a little less than a month ago. I created a new alias ZenMagick to avoid the negative image that I have gathered over the years. I posted frequent blog entries of my progress on that account and ran at 20ptbb over 20k hands. I took the comptia A+ exam a few weeks ago and passed it, and was recently hired for a job working on computers which I start tomorrow. I have managed to workout a plan to get all of my credit card debt paid off and I am really excited to have my life back on track.
As for poker, im not at all concerned with moving up stakes or taking shots in games anymore. I really am thankful just to be playing 50nl deepstacked games on FTP grinding 4 tables and pulling in a few thousand a month. I mean will I move up to higher stakes? Absolutely! But to be honest im really not in that big of a hurry. I have been dirt poor for so long I really do finally understand the value of money.
It was sad for me to see a few weeks ago that asdf2000 finally called it quits. I didnt know him personally but I have followed his posts through the years and noticed a lot of similarities between our poker histories. It is very unfortunate that he was unable to overcome his personal demons. I am impressed that he stuck with his word and really quit poker. On the flipside I am inspired by NeillyJQ who seems to have been able to overcome his degeneracy. Also I would like to say that my old buddy Trey who used to busto almost as often as me has really made me proud and continues to inspire me by becoming a 5/10 regular and seemingly has overcome his destructive tilt tendancies.
So I will now say it, and it shall be law. If ever there comes a day when my poker account reads 0.00 again. Then that will be the last day you will ever see Xervean at a poker table.
ps. want to give a thanks to all those who have put up with me and my constant bad beat stories and negative attitude over the years and done nothing but give me good advice; specifically ket, yomer, trey and twistedecho. I promise those days are over, and I will be nothing but positive from here on out!
So I ran MTT sunday today and got 2nd in the 3rebuy yet again, this time i lost AQ vs K9 then lost another stupid hand, tp vs bottom pair he calls allin and i woulda been monsterous CL but he hit 2 pair on turn FML
so i win 7500 in it today but had around 2500 invested in MTTs today so +5k score
BR $15600
Ok, I never told anyone but a good friend of mine staked me back when I was starting NL25 at 50/50 til 15k, so when I had $15,600, I sent him $7500 +1k investment ($8,500) which left me with $6901. I paid $891 in past debts (sry it took so long naz ($100), Artanis ($200) doomer ($180 left from like a year ago) and a couple other LPers) (still have a couple debts left which will be being paid as I continue grinding, I'm hoping to get a nice base 10k roll again before I pay the rest of my debts unless one of those couple guys needs it immediately)
Now I Have $6,010 n change for Nl100 to start on my own. It took me around 35-40 days to hit the 15k plateau but I finally did it! Woot!
Now I'm on my own, I'm getting close to supernova for sick bonuses as well, WOot! Platinumstar + NL100 is so sick!
I'm going to continue to grind NL100 3-5 days a week and play MTT's 1-3 days a week, and take a day off once or twice a week. I'm going to stay at NL100 til $12,000. If I downswing, I'll go to NL50 at $3,500.
So there it is guys, I've been on a sick MTT tear, and without the coaching and support of LP and jlost88 (lostaccount) and whamm! and gsr_01_integ and so many others I don't know if I could have ever done this, so thx a million guys, as well as the rest of LP and the killer support you've shown in my 4 straight days of winning atleast 1k in MTT's :-)
Ok, I'm off for the night
btw - forgot to mention that my staker for this is going to stake me for some WSOP this summer most likely :-) He made $9500 in the deal overall which turned out to be a sound investment, and now I have all I ever wanted, discipline and I'm a NL100 player, and truly believe I can and will be a NL100 reg for a good long while. (12k or 20bi and 25k hands)
Managed to lose only 1 buy-in today despite losing every showdown and never getting paid off. You know it's bad when your 4 most profitable hands didn't go to showdown. I'd like some opinions on these.

58/26/50% 25% 3bet (same guy from hand 2). He folded hand 2 so I figured maybe this time he'd fight back. 4bet PF? On this flop, is the raise standard, or given the fact that he folded to a raise last time, should I have called?

40/7 and 40/9 opponents. In other words, horribles. Should I have slowplayed this? Buckham was only folding to cbets 30%, but D-train was 6 for 6 in folding and had a bigger stack.
So In FEB i didnt play much at all cos ive been away for most of the month. And only played the last week or so.
Again i started taking NL200 shots which didnt go too well.
However NL100 is going pretty well so after takin shots at NL200 i made the money back
and some more at NL100.
I have also got a cardrunners membership(Lachlan hooked me up thx man) which lets me watch all the training videos. So I think this will greatly help me improve and hopefully finally be able to crush NL200.
also teh thing that fucked me up is i decided to format my computer and accidentally
i deleted all my poker data that i have - that is all databases, all videos, all my
theoretical notes - everything. This sucks majorly. Also my PAHUD was gone and i couldnt
re-register it cos i couldnt remember which email address it was registered to. So instead
i decided to buy HEM. And since HEM is even better i think it was a good decision.
Im not sure how to work it yet and it seems veery extensive compared to PTv2. So ill need
some time to figure out how it works.
...and HEM tells me that I need to register. wtf?
March started off bad, and now I have homework to do. -3bi from losing one flip, and playing stacking off way too light. Taking down lots more small and medium sized pots than usual, though.
=/
Anyway, I play like a monkey. It's a note to myself.
My desktop computer of 4 years has given out on me, and I want my next computer to be able to handle 15-20 tabling easily. Here are my general options:
1. Build a computer (Cheap, good value)
2. Buy a new desktop (Better performance value than a laptop)
3. Buy a new laptop (Able to play when I go to GF's place, can hook it up to my 26" monitor)
Any thoughts? Specifically, what attributes do you need in a good "poker" computer? Thanks
after just totally life-fucking myself in the midst of a heater, i started to meltdown and spew a ton and monkeytilt here and there, nothing realy devastating to my br at all, but i just decided to take a week off, which felt kinda like forever after playing over a year straight nonstop everyday. im feeling a whole lot better atm, and maybe going to manila for some tournament and some fun/r&r too, february was down-uuuuuuup-then down some, which pretty much sucked, considering it couldve been a potentially great month for me, it's all good though, coz im still up a good amount. atm the moment im watching "generation kill", an iraq war mini-series from hbo, seems pretty good and im really enjoying life without poker as of late. ill start playing as soon as march starts, so im pretty excited about that too. gl ppl and hope everyone runs well.
I am here to do an summary of my first month of br rebuilding and my poker resurrection. There are my goals for February from the beginning of the month :
- win 3x BI on NL2, NL4, NL10, NL20 and be a winner on NL50 --- fail
- play at least 30k hands --- succes
- dont tilt --- fail
- finish all of my school stuff --- 60% succes
- stop drinking, start grinding :D --- succes
I started this month full of poker energy and poker enthusiams, I started grinding lowest stakes as a warm up and I ran pretty good at NL2 and NL4 but then I have some problems with winning 3bi on NL10 and obviously threw my plan to the bin and skip this point and started tilting NL20 and some NL10 HU and after first week I was down about 200usd and hopeless again.
Then I deleted my tilted PT3 database and started a new one, because I was not able to live with proof of my stupidity in my HDD and that is the reason why my graph is only from 18 days After this epic fail I started play a little bit better. I experimented with nit mass tabling 6-14 tables of NL20 instead of my usual 4tables and have reasonable results because players down here are obv very bad and will pay your aces almost everytime and dont care that you folded 40 previous hands. Than I took shot to NL50 where I had a really nice heater first two sessions, but after this I hit a big downsving when I lost every flip, ran KK into AA etc etc and this tilted me a little bit ... so I went back to NL20 and didnt play well in the rest of the month. I ended the month something like - 250usd from playing, but thank to rakeback I am up 100usd and I will propably buy a copy of PT3 and Eyepoker from this profit.
I played whole month like absolute nit running something like 13/12 most of the time, and I have to admit, that this was not poker what I enjoy and I am not really good in it. Maybe it is a good way how to play 9 table of NL20/NL50 and make some profit, but I really want to be good at this game and try to get to the really high stakes one day, so I realized that I have to try crush my tables and become a really tought to play again instead of waiting for AA and bet bet bet, so I tried way more lagy style, even more lagy I was used to play on NL200 before (20/18) and hureeeeei it seems to be working - I play more pots with a fishes and they give me a lot of action on my big hands even when I play only 3-4 tables which is nice. In the other hand I did some pretty bad calls when overestimated my image and I really have to work on this lag style, so I will play another 5k hands of NL20 with these stats and after than hopefully try NL50.
- play another 5k lag hands and reevaluate
- play 30k hands again
- stop tilting obv
- try to improve my game, dont be result or money orinted, try to crush my tables instead of nobrainer masstable grinding
