why the fuck can't I get actionby Python817, March 03
I haven't played much HU at all the past few months and I'm pretty sure I'm down money at 2/4 HU overall yet after losing 3.7k today at 2/4 HU I couldn't get a single person to play me for more than 20 hands from 2/4 - 5/10 HU on stars yet there are like 20 open tables at each of those stakes
Yeah so I dont really update this blog anymore but meh. In recent news I didnt play almost anything in january, ended the month slightly in the red. February started out great, I finally in the mood to play again and I logged alot of hands playing 3/6-10/20. Peaked my profits at around 35k + an ept copenhagen package. Copenhagen was awesome, eventhough I busted on the first day it was a really fun experience and I loved hanging out with everyone there. Really made me wanna quialify for ept san remo and monte carlo.
However, after returning from copenhagen poker has really gone to shit. In a combination of playing sloppy/tilted/retarded and getting coolered and cold decked I think Ive lost around 30k, meaning ive basicly killed all my profits from february in like a week. So much of this was my own fucking fault, whenever I run bad it just creates a huge negative spiral for me where I just play worse and worse. Its so fucking pathetic how I can let losing affect me when I am basicly freerolling life.
I dont think I can ever completely stop myself from being affected by poor results, but what I can do is take good breaks when poker isnt treating me well. This would minimize the damage of downswings so much and it tilts me to no end that I dont do this more often. The main problem is that where I live right now there is really nothing much to do during the day. All I do is basicly work out/play the piano, play poker and play dota. I very easily get bored and feel useless if I dont put in a couple of hours of grinding. Playing retarded and tilty poker is an expensive cure for boredom though and I really need to stop doing it. So from now on I will be taking a break from poker alltogether for a week. Only exception being maybe some sunday donkaments but primarily the ept sattelites as I want to take every chance I have to win a seat.
Tomorrow im buying a guitar and some books to keep me ocupied. Wish me luck!
So I started the month up like 3 bi and now I'm down 2.5. That sucks. However, that wouldn't kill my happiness rating in most cases. However, the two girls in the world I really, really like to be singles seemed to each find today appropriate as a day to tell me about their new boyfriends. At least on of them seemed semi-open to immoral suggestions but whatever. It went so far that when one of my friends started babbling about some PUA-book and sent me a link I bought the damn thing. It feels pretty stupid and overall I don't think I'm in the right state of mind to read it right now, but it was like 3bb or something so whatever. Overall I've been super annoyed about this and some other stuff today for no good reason, and since I'm male I can't blame PMS. However, the right way to combat this is to list a shitload of good things and such.
1. I'll get up really early tomorrow and get a work out in before school. I need to get started with this again and if I can work out either by going to the gym or taking a decently long walk like 20/31 days in march I'm happy. Sooner or later I'll get in shape.
2. Watchmen will be out in like 2 weeks. This might be the sickest film this year. I'm super excited.
3. In a month comic book girl will get back to Sweden. I'm fairly sure she's lesbian and not really into guys at all, but on the other hand she has a really big comic book collection and nothing brings my mood up easier then reminding me of how big a geek I can be sometimes.
4. Raptor posted a pretty great blog post. It was inspiring. Go find his blog over at cardrunners.
5. HSP ep1 season whatever it is had like 80% durrrrrr face time.
And last but not least, now I'm tilted enough so that I feel that maybe I should get back to play like 26/22 or 25/20 instead of my current 32/26/4 game. Yesterday (before I started losing money) I observed myself raise K2s UTG and feel that it was pretty standard and good, and I feel that even though the table and blinds were really soft, this might be a leak.
Ok guys, now that I am sufficiently rolled for NL100 ($5800 after paying 1k in debts and a $150 cash out for my self *800 cashed out this month*)
I'm now going to play NL100 6max during the weeks, and play MTT's on stakes during the weekends at 50/50 (around 1k for sundays and I will most likely play with my own money on saturdays)
I'll be allowing myself to play sessions of Heads up now as well, as long as I have 100+ buy-ins for the heads up limit then I will allow myself to play it if its the weekend or if I believe I have a strong edge.
This addresses my three most profitable areas of poker, with very little risk. 6max during most times, hu mostly on fridays and saturdays when its weakest, and mtt's sundays when the overlays are the largest and a few others during the week.
My next goal is to reach 12k+ (nl200 roll) , I'm allowing myself to cashout whenever I want to now as well.
Overall, I'm aiming for
2+bb at 6max (16-max tabling)
4+bb at HU (2-8 tabling)
$0-$10M/day MTT (1-20 tabling)
I love all ya, appreciate your support, and I'm sure some of you will "think" allowing myself to play hu is a degen move or whatever, which is not the case. I am extremely profitable HU, I just never understood bankroll management years ago when I allowed myself to play it. I also chased loses like a motherfucker and I didn't time my cashgame sesions like I do now. I will always have 100+ bi for MTT and Heads Up. If I don't, then I will send anyone $100 cash money who would spot me on any of those tables.
This is how I'm going to play, I'm 100% confident that I will do my best and succeed, and these are my best game choices.
NL100 6max
NL50 HU
MTTs that I have 100bi for
Sunday staked tournaments
at least i have some self control
now and wont play anymore for today
bunch of bullshit happend today after a good yesterday
started good today, too and made 3BI in 1,4K hands at the afternoon session
just started evening session 1h ago and lost 3 1/2 BI in 1 hour of pure bullhsit
when i lost with better hand always ...
Yeha people call your 3 bets with KJ, 75, A5o and hit all the time when u have them in killer shape PF >-<
down 1/2 BI for today in 3,5 hours of poker
Also i decided i wont blog anymore
nothing new to tell but being angry about poker ...
@ night
i owe u 100$ that i will pay at end of the month
My red line is pretty breakeven, but I haven't won a showdown in 15 years. I'm not really sure what to change. I'm running 15/12 now in FR, I've tightened up in EP and MP but it "seems" to have the opposite of the desired effect. I'm still running 21/17 in 6max and that's the only place I've been able to not lose 5 buy ins a session.
One major problem with my game that i'm sure about is that I go to showdown ~27% which is too high. But at NL2 I just don't know what to do about it, noone ever folds to the point to where cbetting is useless. And Am i not supposed to call down with 2 overcards and a gutshot getting 15 to 1 pot odds because these kids minbet into 50bb pots....
So frustrated I'm taking the day off.
I guess on a side note I played a few homegames w/ some friends and they have no clue and I went 4-0, winning my GF some tickets to some silly show and a bunch of junk like tshirt, mug, cookies, alchz... but shit fuck all that.
Sigh, always when i move up a limit, shitload coolers, stupid 3bet callers hitting their 22set vs my aces etc, god i hate it, instant stop running normal/good whenever i move up.
I finally decide to create my blog.
What can I say about me ? I play poker for about a half year. My name is Pavla (19 years old). In this time I play on PokerStars NL5 FR.
My goals are to finish high school and after that play poker for full time. In September im going to go to language school to improve my english =).
I didnt end up playing at all on the weekend. Decided to take a break and look over a lot of my hands I played in the month and also watch a few Deucescracked videos. What are some of the really good videos on DC? I really like Krantz videos but Im sure theres loads more great videos so leave a comment telling me which ones you like.
So anyways I was planning on going to the gym this morning but I messed up my shoulder last night at hockey. I went into the boards pretty weird last night and thought I was alright but this morning It wasnt feeling that great. SO instead of going to the gym I decided to fire up some tables. The games at the start were pretty bad. A lot of the regs were in line for the games so I just opted to play some super good NL5 games for a bit until the NL10 games got a bit better which they eventually did.
So It was just a small session but It went well. There was also a rediculous NL25 game going on that I could not resist so I jumped in it. Thing swere pretty slow and I wasnt getting any hands for a long time. I ended up winning about one buy in though just winning a lot of small pots here and there. I only had one big hand and I think I played it pretty bad actually.... maybe a little scared.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/hand/hand.php?hand=644740
Villan was pretty tight and solid from what Ive seen but sometimes cant fold his hands. I wasnt really wanting to get into pots with him but this hand occured. I think I played it pretty bad actually but atleast I got value off all streets so w/e
Im not going to be taking any shots at NL25 anymore no matter how good the games are until I make around $150 more then Ill be taking shots here and there. I want to have around $500 in my roll before I move up there for good. Im fine with just grinding out NL5 and NL10 for a while its such easy money.
Hand of the day:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/hand/hand.php?hand=644749
This was one of the last hands of the session. Villan was a pretty big fish and just played this hand so face up. I was 90% sure he had a K after he flat called me on the flop so I checked back the turn. It just smelt like a small blind special to me. Anyways I end up hitting the jackpot on the river and sure enough he over bets hoping Ill think hes on a steal. I decided that for sure he would stack off with me holding a K so I opted to just shove and boom. Ship Ship.
Highstakes Poker Season 5 started off yesterday. I found the episode on POKERTUBE and watched it last night. Pretty good line up. Lots of Live pros and Internet pros too. Should be lots of great action and Im really looking forward to watching.
Ill probably end up playing a bit more later tonight if the games are good. For now though Im just probably going to go smoke a J and watch a movie or something. Might actualyl go play a home game at my buddies place since Im back here in Cambridge. There always down for a game and Im sure Ill end up going over there with my buddy atleast once this week to smoke some buds and play cards. Who knows. I got nothing but time to kill this week lol.
Got 1k hands in on Sunday, and another 1k in today. I'm halfway to my $100 goal before moving to 25NL.
I've been playing pretty much exactly 1k hand sessions every morning. I'm starting to get into a little routine, and it's been working out well for me.
Met a tricky player FunnySmile who basically owned me for close to a buy-in over 5-10 hands. Instead of trying to muscle him around oop, I decided to cut my losses, and stand up from the table. This is NOT something my old self would do. But I figure: I'm 9-tabling, it's 10NL, why go through any unnecessary stress?
Had 5 90bb+ winners, and my biggest loss was for 50bb. Keeping my losses to a minimum has helped out a lot.

Played almost only MTTs and SnGs last month with some good sucess, but I really feel like I need to get the cg's going again.
So far Ive done good Moved up to 50NL pretty fast because I realised im to much of a nit playing 20NL with like 150 buy ins
Played around 5 sessions of 9 tabling 50NL and it feels just great Pretty high VPIP in 50NL but there is included one HU session of a couple of 100 hands.
Smallish sample of hands but 23bb/100 pretty sick when im running 150$ under EV aswell
The regs are so weak on 50NL so far, they play like robots and gives up to 3bets/squeezes supereasy.
Planning to play atleast 30k hands this month, I need to clear out my 600$ signup bonus + get a 200$ extrabonus for making 50k "cardozapoints" in 1 month.
Next month my 27% rakeback deal will kick in aswell
Feels so good to grind with bonuses and rakeback now.
On my last client I hadnt had a bonus to clear in over 1 year. Wich suxed pretty hard.
Im still pretty conservative and not 3betting to much, I really wanna try to go for a lower variance kinda style in the beginning.
But it looks like its not needed yet. Hope to continue to do good and become a 50NL reg this month
Bankroll now of ~3800$ almost 10xed it in 1.5month now :D
LP has been nice inspiration for me
lovesloves
ps. Any1 wanna get pwned 1on1 bw later? -.-
PS2 I found the most addicting game ever (worse then poker..) I played it for 4 hours last night omg ^^
would be funny to see how you americans do in this game. Goes some rumors for us euros that the average american pretty much cant point out canada on a map
I think I really need to split or move my roll soon. I play at a lot of random hours and cake only has action from 12pm - 2AM EST.. Or maybe my expectations are just too high.
I circled the regs in this picture. These are 9 of the 11 nl100 tables running right now at 7.30AM EST. Do I just have too high of expectations of fish population for today's game? I haven't been on another site at these limits so I really don't know. Squares are most-likely-to-be-fish.
I'm not complaining because I'm losing or something btw. Just curious if I need to split my roll if I'm going to find decent games at non-peak hours, or if this is how it always is and thus I don't need to move my roll so badly.
a definite and obvious improvement from January but far from what I'd like it to be. I'd love to get in more hands but between schoolwork and sitting on my ass, I can hardly find the time to play daily. Needless to say, this is needless to say as indicated by the graph. At least I met my feb goal--not lose moneys like in Jan. I guess I'm satisfied, given the rather minimal effort I've been putting into internet pokers.
My housemate that I taught to play internet pokers is doing exceptionally well, beyond what I expected of his feeble gambling concept. He started with $7 (courtesy of yours truly) about 3 weeks ago and now he's at over 170. I told him to get HEM or PT3 but he fails to succeed at knowing that such tools are actually rather useful at higher stakes. Ok enough about him.
What is fira doing riding a blog at 4:20 AM, you might ask yourself. Well, I need to be up at 7 AM, and like 2 hours ago I tried to sleep but couldn't, so I got up and decided to ride a poker blog for my greatest fans. I figured the only way I was going to be up in 5 hours was if I stayed up. Plan working accordingly so far.
atm in my sessions i'm playing 4-6 tables NL100 and 0-2 tables NL200 if i see any particularly soft tables (6 tables max), will change this ratio as my BR increases, at about $3.5k as of now.
Didn't post January results as I hardly played due to exams, made a few hundo.
