1) JonnyCosmo's video <----really opens your eyes on how lag you should be playing
2) Mez's video <----further cements how lag you should be playing, although he exaggerates his lag (i think) play. DO NOT try and emulate his play.
3) Myth's video <----pretty solid if you don't really understand what he's talking about you should probably reread the articles here http://www.liquidpoker.net/pokerarticles/
the rest of the other videos, are all helpful but i think the mentioned above videos are the best. actually just go ahead and watch JonnyCosmo's video like 5 times if your going to dl just one video. As a note couldn't get midian's vid to work.
also a request: maybe get some tournament vids up? and more 1/2 2/4 nl videos are more than appreciated at any time.
maybe read artanis's blog just so you know it can be done http://artanis.liquidpoker.net/ i think from 200--> 200K in 3 years
anyway limited play today up 4 buy ins even though AA cracked 3x times. close to 20 buy ins, once i reach 20 buy ins i'll prob take a shot at 1 level higher. if i lose, regrind to 20 and repeat up to 3x times. if i fail 3x times prob just grind till 25 buy ins and retry.
limited play due to tests, having to drive all the way to my parents to "fix" the computer aka installing standard software. gonna install tightvnc so i don't have to drive there all the time. as well as desperately trying to get my hands on magic tickets for game 4. which is tomorrow.
Why i root for the magic to win:
1) born in orlando, long time fan.
2) we still do not have our 1st championship.
3) we got swept during the finals.
4) we've lost to the pistons like 4 straight years (rasheed schools dwight)
5) refer to next list
Why i hate the lakers:
1) kobe bryant, cool you raped a girl no one cares, your selfish, you kicked out shaq because of your ego(you coulda won 6 easy), your a bitch who complains non stop, your team mates hate you, i hate you, your so fucking good.
2) cool, phil jackson gets to coach mj, kobe and shaq, biggest luckbox evvvvvvvvvvvvver. i don't want you to pass Red Auerbach for most rings as coach
3) come on the whole lakers mentality, rich ppl, OC, sense of entitlement.
4) odum u idiot, you eat candy for breakfast, not reesess puffs cereal, but starbursts and skittles
5) fisher you old fart, u shot career low don't turn it up against the magic.
6) reason no 1
Damn just come home from the local casino, played a sit go of 30$ with rebuys got second for like 300$ and then decide to stay to play cash.some huge fish with lots of $$$ come.so i sit with like 400$ the game is running like 2/5$.
at first we played 3 handed in like 5 hands i made a str8 and trips got my stack around 1k,in like one hour the table was full and everyone had at least 1k in front.
Card dead for like 2 hours and i got 33 in the button someone make it to 30$ 5 callers ,flop Jd 9d 3s the initial reiser make
it to 125$ one caller i rereise to 400$ guys shove the rest i snap called.and he shows 99 gg me i'm still fukcing pissed as hell b/c he is such a huge fish.
but w/e friday will be a game min 2k entance hope i will recover then .
gl to everyone
God its so tilting when you fold PF low-mid pocket pairs to big raisers and u woulda flopped sets/boats, or when you fold AQs preflop to a min raise,3bet and shove all in, and then see nut flush on flop, or when you fold J9 on the button because you know the big blind never checks, he alwaaaays calls or raises, and see the flop go 9 J 9. FUCK it can be so fucking tilting sometimes.
And then when you get your hands in good and you loose every fucking flop known to man. Or when you cbet your top pair, and the lagtard catchs his one in a billion gutshot on the river. Or when you call a min raise with pocket 8s, and the guy check/shoves and you call on the 7 4 4 flop, and you see has QQ. FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK.
Or when you are getting low in chips and you can only shove or fold, and the guy to your left who has been calling floating every fucking pot calls you yet again when you shove with JJ and he has QQ. FUCK FUCK FUCK.
first 20k hands was good and after those 14 last days of may with fucking retard breakeven results i was so happy to be winning again.
60hours of playtime for no reason..
I feel like i play really great, but this is how its been for me the last 4 months, i cant seem to advance, ive been stuck in 10NL and 25NL for the last month and cant seem to have a streak of god run to move up the limits again
BR went from like 300$ to 4000$ in last year/around newyears. Since 2009 started ive moved down to like 500$ BR, always with the same EV graphs. Last month i ended up almost 70 buy ins under EV.
Would like to remember the last time a set held up vs a retarded T high flush draw, or the time AA held up against JJ preflop..
As I get older I find myself becoming more and more of a movie critic. Network, a movie made in 1976, is a great movie that I just recently heard of and watched. I highly recommend it to anyone that hasn't seen it. The fact that I'm making this blog about it is obv proof enough that in my eyes it is a solid and worth watching movie.
What is so superbly awesome about this movie is that even tho it is an older movie, as time goes on, "Network" seems to become so obviously more applicable and pertinent to things/events of today it's just amazing. This movie imo is a great simple first step into understanding what the hell is going on.
Anyone that thinks or says we have "evolved" since the founding of this country or says that the battles and issues that are being fought today are something new and advanced either have absolutely zero clue themselves or are telling you this because they want you to continue having no clue of your own and want to get your eye & emotion off of what is important.
There are always these keywords you should learn and remember to apply or try to find in a debate. Balance and principles. Learn those for yourselves and you will see things haven't really changed at all.
Anyhow, I don't usually post info about what happened in a movie nor do I like seeing clips of the movie I want to watch before I actually watch it. I realize however this isn't always the case for everyone and me posting this youtube clip doesn't force u to play it while watching this vid might actually perk your interest alot more than my babbling so...
Here is what I think is a very good clip to use as a trailer for the movie.
So far this month I've played like 18k hands mid stakes hold'em and maybe 1-2k hands of 1/2 omaha just to get FTP-points for my CR-subscription. I think I've played my A-game maybe 1/3rd of the time, which is a lot more then I usually do, and since I didn't play many hands at all for the first week of the month due to my exams (which I did decent enough on, I think) I'm very happy with the amount of hands and somewhat happy with how I've been playing. I was down a bit in the beginning, then hit a big rush but lost maybe 10 buy ins today and yesterday. Overall I'm up a couple of buy ins and I've also raked a shitton due to how many hands I've played which owns since my rakeback will be huge in the end of the month. I hope to play 75k hands this month, which would be like 20k more then I've ever played before. I also feel that I might start table selecting a bit.
And since some regs seems to read this blog:
Utregfan: You sucked ass before, please start spewing like a retard again. The new you is annoying. Also, I'd like to state that I respect you for actually trying to start games by playing HU. Most retarded good-for-nothing waste of space regs either hit n' run or just sits out when someone tries to start something. Also, even though you're an evil luckbox (AKo vs AKs !!!!) it's superfun to play you.
after playing nl 25 again for a while, pretty happy with my success. i got owned with one ridiculous set up though, it involves me raising AK and getting a limp/call.
flop: AK2
donk leads, i raise, donk shoves, i literally giggle and call
turn/river: xx
i see pocket 22 and i want to cry. but for some reason i still find it really funny and can't help but laugh out loud. this hand pissed me off only because i thought about all the AQ AJ, KQ KJ, QJ, JT, QQ JJ hands that may call me, but i completely forgot about 22's (not like i was gonna fold but still).
anyway at nl25 everyone folds to 3 bets -_-
so my plan is to 3 bet light and just call with AA KK QQ JJ vs Reraising. (if this is bad please tell me why its bad)
also despite the previous hand i ran really well with AK. i played it alot differently than i normally do however. instead of always reraising AK i started calling pf more often. I'm starting to really like this hand! it completely dominates AQ AJ KQ KJ KT QJ which i find are the fishiest hands ever. i mean i've known this for a long time but never really appreciated it i guess.
anyway my question is why do we raise AK? if it folds weaker Ax and Kx are we not just strengthening the range of our opponent? pocket pairs prob still call to set mine but that's 50/50 i guess. i mean factoring out the power of position, why do we raise AK? i love getting 3 streets of value with this hand with a K high or an A high flop against AQ or KQ. well here are some reasons (please correct or modify).
Basically i'm trying to figure out at what point does value betting become bluffy (in general not just AK, obv when more hands beat you vs lose to you)
-they gonna call with AQ AJ KQ KJ KT. i feel this is partially true depending on opponent. if opponent folds these hands do we still reraise?
-AK is so awesome why not put more money in the pot? i think that's a pretty good argument. it's +EV
-AK will sometimes fold lower pp so less risk of getting set mined.
i think it's also hard to separate the reasons from raising in general vs specifically raising with AK
obviously raising usually implies position which has a plethora of advantages by itself.
Welp, here we are ten days into June. I'm having a grand old time on FTP playing NL25. I'm finding lots of places where I don't know what the best thing to do is, and also discovering lots of leaks I can fix. I'm really feeling like I'm progressing quickly and learning a lot while I play. I have been playing four tables now this whole time and I don't plan on changing that. I think that four is really the best number, any more than that and I can't manage to keep my finger on the pulse of the table, any less and it gets pretty boring and I feel like I'm wasting some EV for my poker time.
I'm headed out to my family's summer home up in Wisconsin in a few days, probably stay there four 4-5 days and see if I can't get a nice tan. That will really cut short my month, I'm going to try for silver iron man status anyway though. My basic play is now at a place I'm really happy with (if you'll notice before I was at 14/11 then 17/13 stuff like that). I'll post my stats for this month so far right below.
I'm always looking for people to talk about poker hands with, whether they play similar stakes or higher. Feel free to send me a message on AIM, I'm SpeedyJack123. My graph is looking kind of weird so far, at first the red line was going up, then it was even, now it's going down. Each stage represents a conscious decision to change my game play and I'm still trying to figure out what type of play is optimal to crush the stake I'm at. I find it really easy to manipulate my red/blue line ratio, so I'm having a bit of fun with it right now. I'm barely 1/10 of the way done clearing my bonus so I'm still enjoying randomly gaining nearly a buyin every now and then. The sessions I'm doing are also getting longer, before I had trouble playing a solid hour, now an hour feels like a breeze and two hours is getting to be easier and easier, I've had some 3+ hour sessions. I feel like I'm getting better at grinding.
I hope everyone is having good luck and a great summer, here are some pictures that I would appreciate any feedback on:
Best way to go about this + vegas trip.by TheTank, June 10
I'm going on a vacation to vegas during the WSOP ME, and plan on playing in some cash games...Will the lower limit cash games be fishy at this time or since the ME there's going to be studs there? I figure anyone good will be playing higher limits while fish who are there to watch would be at the 200nl tables...Your thoughts?
Also, i quit poker around last october b/c was in a tremendous downswing (~-$500 on 25nl, then 10nl and 5nl...pretty pathetic) and i was reallly busy w/ school and work. but i was wondering what would be the best way to rebuild a br... mtt, cash or sng?
trying to fix life issues still over the past month, tried playing again 3 days ago but moved down to 50nl to make money/confidence before going back to 100nl and 200nl shortly after. coaching has stopped temporarily after 2 sessions, didnt see the need to get coached when in a bad state, and since ive already paid for the whole thing, decided itd be better when im back to my regular limits again. br is kinda raped, life same, but now im feeling much much better and winning again, enjoying the whole game and the misery it accompanies. lol. gonna play like 20k hands at 50nl fr and just try new stuff, open up more and get more folds the break was worth it and it helped a ton. sorry 50nl ppl, this wont take long, i promise
Is soooo low as it comes to online-poker, but high lifewise. Damn it have been a pretty rough week, lost about 10bi at NL20. But yesterday things turned around. I decided to quit multitabling NL20 and instead focus on one-tabling NL50 hu, where I have a much higher winrate. Had luck and met a total retard. He made same line almost every hand, limp or call pf, minbet postflop and fold to a raise 4-6times BB, it was only a big LOL. Raped him for approx. 4bi:s before he left and I called the night.
Remember87 is still at my place and running his race for Vegas. He doesn't have very sound habits, eats only eggs and is awake until 6 in the mornings, about 2hrs before I go for work, lol. But think he does pretty ok, except for his tilt yesterday.
Me, myself and I have catched a real big cold, which pretty much sucks. Got a lot to do att work so I can't stay home and today I have a date planned with a really great girl I met last weekend. Don't wanna show up like a monster with redeyes, but i wonder if that's not exactly what I had when we met on my third day of partying =).
Right now I just want to sleep for 24hrs but instead I'm gonna analyse some legal-case consisting of 123pages...sigh.
Hey guys, just trying to keep my blog going, I haven't played as much as i'd like but I don't really get the time to mass grind. Im still working on my game, trying to spot mistakes and such but overall Im not doing thatt bad. Even though I expected to be up a bit more and get some more hands played things are going up.
MAGGGGGGGIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCCCCCCcby jasper5408, June 09
magic manage to win game 3, it was a pretty exciting game. rafer was stormed the first quarter and shot really well. so did kobe bryant which pretty much neutralized the game. all 5 starters of the magic playing really well and all in double figures. however kobe and gasol doin there part of the work. ariza and fisher shooting 3's. pretty much everyone's canceling each other out. it was sick. 4th quarter last minute, high intensity game, pietrus manages to steal the ball and deny the lakers a shot at the last possession! SO MUCH DRAMA. it was pretty sweet.
