full raging tilt, fuck you lakers by jasper5408, June 11

i'm full steam, just punched a fucker in the face for rooting for the lakers and being a god damn douche bag the entire night throwing food at my gang. i finally snapped and just decked the mother fucker. god i'm so fucking pissed.

to all you dumb mother fucking bandwagon fans, the fucking orlando magic lost 2 games in ot. they could have just as easily won both of them. it's just coin flips you fucks. and anyone who blames jameer nelson can get a taste of my fucking foot in their mouth. dwight didn't make a single field goal and missed free throws down the line, fucking trevor ariza got every fucking stray ball every fucking offensive rebound it seemed, fisher shooting 20 percent decided to make shots today, stan van gundy not fucking fouling in regulation to prevent a fucking game tieing 3.

if your a magic fan their loss is your loss, their win is our win. some fucking loyalty and devotion would be nice. i don't blame any of them. i'm just as pissed as anyone else (probably more so) but fuck anyone who blames anything on the magic. it wasn't any one person's fault, it was an incredible game and fortune just favored the lakers.

fuck you kobe, your a complete piece of shit.

to jameer nelson since your going to be blamed for everything

Moral/Ethical Question by Svenman87, June 11

Would it be okay to hook up with a girl who has hooked up with a buddy of yours.
-They've never dated, but they have hooked up multiple times in the past, most recently last month.

Girl lives in Oklahoma and is here until Sunday. She went to High school with my buddy and I.
We're going out for drinks tonight and she already spent the night with me last night [we didn't do anything] but she hinted to the fact that she wanted to.

Only reason I didn't make a move is the previously mentioned 'involvement' of my friend and her.

p.s. she has very large boobs (to the point of her wanting reduction) and is pretty fit (I find this very relevant)

-Also, this buddy of mine is one of the biggest man whore's I've seen, he could pick up his phone and get laid at pretty much a whim, I've seen it... It was retarded.

So there you have it LP

http://www.liquidpoker.net/userpoll/draw.php?poll_id=866
Poll: Do I hookup with her?
(Vote): Yes, they're not dating or anything
(Vote): Run it by your friend first
(Vote): No, that's just not cool...
(Vote): Just fool around with her... aka no sex but still at least get head :3

Health Care by TenBagger, June 11

There was an Op-Ed piece today by one of my favorite journalists, Nicolas Kristof of the NYTimes. He is one of the fiercest advocates for human rights and I respect him greatly. He wrote the following piece about health care:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/11/opinion/11kristof.html?_r=1&em

"This Time, We Won’t Scare"

Perhaps you’ve seen those television commercials denouncing health care reform as a plot to create a Canadian-style totalitarian nightmare, and you feel a wee bit scared.

Back in the election campaign, some people spread rumors that Barack Obama might be a secret Muslim conspiring to impose Sharia law on us. That seems unlikely now, but what if he’s a covert Canadian plotting to impose ... health care?

Rick Scott, a former hospital company chief executive, leads a group called Conservatives for Patients’ Rights. He was forced to resign as C.E.O. after his company defrauded the government through overbilling and is now spending his time trying to block meaningful health care reform by terrifying us with commercials of “real-life stories of the victims of government-run health care.”

So here’s a far more representative “real-life story.”

Diane Tucker, 59, is an American lawyer who moved to Vancouver, Canada, in 2006. Like everyone else there, she now pays the equivalent of just $49 a month for health care.

Then one day two years ago, Ms. Tucker was working on her office computer when she noticed that she was having trouble typing with her right hand.

“I realized my hand was numb, so I tried to stand up to shake it out,” she remembered. “But I had trouble standing.”

A colleague called 911, and an ambulance rushed her to the nearest hospital.

“An emergency room doctor met me at the door, and they took me straight upstairs to the CT scan,” she recalled. A neurologist explained that she had suffered a stroke.

Ms. Tucker spent a week at the hospital. “The doctors were great, although there were also a couple of jerks,” she said. “The nursing staff was wonderful.”

Still, there were two patients to a room, and conditions weren’t as opulent as at some American hospitals. “The food was horrible,” she said.

Then again, the price was right. “They never spoke to me about money,” she said. “Not when I checked in, and not when I left.”

Scaremongers emphasize the waits for specialists in Canada, and there’s some truth to the stories. After the stroke, Ms. Tucker needed to make a routine appointment with a neurologist and an ophthalmologist to see if she should drive again. Initially, those appointments would have meant a two- or three-month wait, although in the end she managed to arrange them more quickly.

Ms. Tucker underwent three months of rehabilitation, including physical therapy several times a week. Again there was no charge, no co-payment.

Then, last year, Ms. Tucker fainted while on a visit to San Francisco, and an ambulance rushed her to the nearest hospital. But this was in the United States, so the person meeting her at the emergency room door wasn’t a doctor.

“The first person I saw was a lady with a computer,” she said, “asking me how I intended to pay the bill.” Ms. Tucker did, in fact, have insurance, but she was told she would have to pay herself and seek reimbursement.

Nothing was seriously wrong, and the hospital discharged her after five hours. The bill came to $8,789.29.

Ms. Tucker has since lost her job in the recession, but she says she’s stuck in Canada — because if she goes back to the United States, she will pay a fortune for private health insurance because of her history of a stroke. “I’m trying to find another job here,” she said. “I want to stay here because of medical insurance.”

Another advantage of the Canadian system, she says, is that it emphasizes preventive care. When a friend was diagnosed as being pre-diabetic, he was put in a free two-year program emphasizing an improved diet and lifestyle — and he emerged as no longer being prone to diabetes.

If Ms. Tucker’s story surprises you, you should know that Mr. Scott’s public relations initiative against health reform is led by the same firm that orchestrated the “Swift boat campaign” against Senator John Kerry in 2004. These commercials are just as false, for President Obama is not proposing government-run health care — just a public insurance element in the mix.

No doubt there are some genuine horror stories in Canada, as there are here in the United States.

But the bottom line is that America’s health care system spends nearly twice as much per person as Canada’s (building the wealth of hospital tycoons like Mr. Scott). Yet our infant mortality rate is 40 percent higher than Canada’s, and American mothers are 57 percent more likely to die in childbirth than Canadian ones.

In 1993, the “Harry and Louise” commercials frightened Americans into abandoning health reform. Let’s ensure those scare tactics don’t work this time.

Negative Rakeback? by Jonoman92, June 11

edit: nvm I'm just dumb. It's all good.

"So I'm a SC player trying to get into poker. I recently deposited $500 on cake and am trying to figure out what is going on with rakeback. Cake and LP have differing statements of how much rakeback I've earned.

I recently starting playing at cake poker through the 33% rakeback thing and the 110% deposit bonus.

-This is what LP statistics say. (How can I have -$22.43 rakeback?)
June 8, 2009 Cake Poker 1166962 $-22.43 33.00% $-7.40
June 9, 2009 Cake Poker 1166962 $8.69 33.00% $2.87
June 10, 2009 Cake Poker 1166962 $25.90 33.00% $8.55
Total $4.01

-Now this next thing that I found on cake poker basically says that you are able to get rakeback and clear the bonus at the same time, but you'll have a slower time clearing the bonus (since usually it is 1 FPP per $1 rake and 7FPP per $1 in tourney fees)

"We’re pleased to announce our very own Bankroll Stimulus Plan: There will be ZERO deductions against your Earnings starting May 1st, 2009!!!
To facilitate this new Bankroll Stimulus Plan, we’ve made some changes to your FPP rules (see below):
Ring Games: 0.5 FPP for every $1 in rake.
(example: .25 FPP for $0.50 raked at the table)
Tournament: 3.5 FPP for every $1 in fees.
(example: 1.75 FPP for $0.50 in tournament fee"

And on Cake it says:

Hands Dealt 2484
Hands Raked 812
Total Rake $41.56
Entry Fees $0.00
Total $41.56
Earnings: $13.71"

Day 10 by Stageus, June 11

Day 10: 10.6.09

Today was total disaster for me. I played short session (only 433 hands) and lost over four buy ins mostly on bad beats and set ups. I still can’t catch on. Today I lost buy in AK vs. KT (PF 3bet pot), flopped lower flush to higher flush and KK vs. 22 when I called opponents all in on flop but deuce on turn sucked me again.
I was mad so I decided not to play today again. In the evening I started drinking with my friend and we played couple SNG’s. It was fun but we of course lost something. Then we played HU against each other. I beat him three times in row but I don’t remember much from that games :-).

Total result so far: 3599 hands, -$263.14

woop woop! by DarkDevildog, June 11

Past week has been awesome!

Life is awesome, i get out of 29 palms(military base in middle of nowhere) in a few weeks since i'm finishing up my schooling there and going to Camp Pendleton (Southern California) which is about an hour away from my house. Ship ship.

Poker wise is also equally as amazing. I reread a few poker books, and dropped down to 4 tables to learn the game better/faster so i wouldn't just robot and get nowhere. Right now playing 100nl. Gonna do prob 25-30k hands of 4tabling(which will take forever) before moving up.
Progress so far. I should be up 1.5 more bi's but suckouts happen. oh well. I also realize this winrate isn't sustainable.

welcome to my poker blog by geometryb, June 11

hello world.

gonna start writing about my poker life. i think a big part of why i suck at poker is because i have no clue what i'm doing. i watch the DC videos and look at hands but i am just clicking buttons so i want to start thinking more. i think i have the most trouble when i have a weak made hand or a weak draw and my continuation bet gets called or when i get raised when i have a pretty strong hand and i go fffffffff payoff.

i started playing some nl50 fullring yesterday will move up after 20 buyins. so far i'm at -4. good luck me.
