Listening over some of the commentary there are parts I'd like to expand more upon but time constraints stop me from talking about everything I want to. When I'm posting a reply in a thread I sit there typing for like 15 minutes just for 1 hand so I often times make long posts with almost all of my thoughts on the matter, however in this video I'm trying to cram my thoughts into as little time as possible.
For instance on the KQ call preflop at 8:20 or so I said I would like to 3bet rather than call in that spot sometimes and I didn't fully explain. With youthoughtwrong in the pot, 3betting and driving him out would be pretty bad when I know how bad he is, how wide he's going to be overcalling there and how much top pair good kicker is worth against him. However if the situation was different and the button open limps a lot but either folds a lot pre or plays reasonably post to the point where I think it's more profitable to squeeze the money out of the original raiser preflop (Who would have to be raising wider than CasualCay was in that spot) than trying to flop a top pair and extracting vs the donk in a 3 way pot, then I would prefer to raise there than call. I guess with a suited KQ I would basically always call in that spot having position on the raiser and getting it 3 way with a donk in there, but KQo doesn't play that well multiway, though it's perfectly good here against youthroughtwrong who, as you saw in this hand was limp/calling Q5o and sucking on huge cockbags.
With that being said, even now I don't agree with everything I said in the video and I definitely didn't say all I wanted to, so feel free to post any comments or questions on any hands where I wasn't clear or if you didn't agree with what I said. I haven't done this very often but I wouldn't mind to make more videos in the future and have thought about getting into coaching multiple times, but never quite did it so any criticism is welcomed.
I got my body composition tested at the gym yesterday and I've lost 1.6kg of fat and lost 0.1kg of muscle in the last month. I've gone from 74.7kg with 23.6% body fat to 72.8kg with 22% body fat. This represents much slower progress than I was hoping for, I was hoping for a small gain in muscle and a bigger loss of fat. I know it's difficult to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time, but I know it's possible, especially in beginners, which is basically what I am but I must be going about it wrong. I think diet is still the main problem and I'm having huge difficulties getting a routine down. I'm skipping breakfast a lot, only eating like 4 times a day and the meals are too low in protein. I'm hoping that in the next month I'll be able to get my act together and speed up my progress.
Poker results this month have been poor, mainly because the month started off just how the last one ended - running WAY below EV and getting cack all over my face. After losing 16k in 2 days (30th Sept + 1st Oct) I decided to play some 200NL and 100NL and I've been playing a lot of those limits. I've been running below EV there also, but winning at least. I've tightened up my play preflop, mostly UTG and UTG+1 where I was definitely raising too wide in the past. I feel good about how I've been playing at 100NL and 200NL even though in the past when I played there I've been unable to take it seriously, and there have been signs of that from time to time this month also, but by and large I feel that I've been playing reasonably well.
I'm happy with how many hands I'm getting in at least, usually 20k is more than I play in a month. I'm enjoying the game and feeling like I am making some progress even though results aren't following just yet. I'm probably going to continue to stick around at 100NL and 200NL for a while and then move back up to 600NL, 1kNL again. I feel like this is something I never did in the past, partly because last year I didn't go through many downswings, but it's definitely necessary to take a step back when things are not going your way and I'd rather play 200NL or whatever than not play at all. Need to play to improve and running away and not playing at all does not solve anything.
Time to go watch the first 2 episodes of the new Dexter series and eat. Enjoy~
Blog is back!! Have a video coming out! 20k/mth!by Joeingram1, October 07
Just wanted to let everyone that follows the blog know that I am coming back to the blog world.
I will write a full update tomorrow of the past few months and post alot of 5/10 and 10/20 hands I have played. I was lucky enough to be owned in the very first hand of Ansky's recent DC video also, always exciting, I have Q10ss in the hand
I also made an NL100 fr video with a bunch of shorthanded play also for the people of 2+2 which focused on 3betting people, I think I ran about 48/41 with 40 percent 3bet so was playing my usual nit game. The video is being processed right now by Split from 2p2 and will be up on his site tomorrow!
Had a little over 20k month last month and finally got out of the negative on tableratings site which is a big goal of mine actually lol but I started this month down 12k but have rebounded. Graphs to come tomorrow!
for some reason I loaded up 9 tables today, instead of my usual 6-7. Those couple of extra tables really put me into autopilot mode, and I made some tilty decisions because of all the actions popping up and shit.
Some reg c/c 33x flop, c/minraise turn J, I look down at my TT, and I just tilt shove into quadzillas. definitely going back to 6-7 tables tomorrow, to reduce tilt and increase quality of play ...
... I got smoked by a city bus while walking homeby rossro, October 06
Ok I will get right into it.
Last Thursday I was at a bar with a bunch of my buddies when I decided to take off a little early (worked at 5:30am the previous morning so i was tired). So I left the bar and started walking home since my house was only a few blocks away from the house. I was waiting at the cross walk at a fairly busy intersection. The pedestrian walk light came on and I began walking, not noticing anything in my direct view, although I did have my hood up since it was raining out. So I take about five steps out into the street when I hear a large vehicle basically right beside me and before I know it I am lying on the pavement in front of a city bus. The impact was enough to completely spider the front window of the bus, send me flying about 4-5 feet before I smacked the pavement on my side. The police/ems where called and recorded the incident checked to make sure I was fine (although it was extremely brief). I was able to get up immediately after the incident, obviously in shock at the time. Anyways after a few hours of reports, etc (the bus driver completely corroborated my story, and of course it was a woman.... lol). So the next morning I had a large bruise/pain on my hip as well as some pain in my shoulder/side and a head ache (although the headache could have been from being hung over). So I went to the hospital to make sure I had not broken bones or serious injuries, and after getting an xray of my hip showed that I had no broken bones, I was prescribed pain killers and sent home. This happened late last week and as of now I still have pain in my hip as well as shoulder/upper body. As well a $500 watch and brand new coat were completely destroyed in the incident.
Anyways if any of you are actually still awake after that I have a few questions I was wondering if anyone has any insights about.
1. Anyone have any clue what compensation is typical in an incident such as this one. Keeping in mind this accident occurred in Canada. I am obviously not expecting a concrete answer I am just curious if anyone has had any experience with anything remotely similar. (Keeping in mind it was a City Transit Bus)
2. I have to contact the insurance agency (SGI - Saskatchewan Government Insurance) about an injury claim tomorrow. Should I also be contacting a lawyer to get legal advice about this matter (e.g. pain & suffering compensation) ?
Thx for any responses.
Overall it was quite a traumatic experience if the bus driver had seen me a second later or been going any faster I could definitely be dead. For how hard I was hit I still cant believe how mild my injuries are, luckily I am a pretty big guy (6’4, 245 pounds and fairly muscular… at least that’s what I tell myself).
ok i fucking hate this game.by Newblish, October 06
Ok,
Gonna remove this post. Was just a "i want to let off steam because i had a bad session(the worst one ive ever had) and i get piles of one of - hatred/spam/people posting random useless shit that has no real relevance to anything.
Jesus christ, Sorry for fucking venting some frustration you idiots(not all of you, though you know who you are - street hooker).
If anything positive can come out of this - It's that this has taught me that i need to work on controlling my emotions and just forget about these days. Thats ultimately all you can ever do.
I guess my dream to be regular at NL50 will have to wait a more
damn, feels so bad a -4bi loosing session
some motivating word would be nice
and also some critizes about those hands, I know I did not played then well...
on hand2... villain is a 10/7 uber nit, how the fuck he calls that preflop. I just went on super tilt after that hand
Liberte is back on Earth soon and back to poker?by Highcard, October 06
So I was reading this article about Guy, says he will be back October 11th. He spent $35 million and a lot of time training/preparing + divorce. I am just wondering if people think he will be hitting up the HSgames or does this Space shit seem to be his new distraction from poker
tips for improving as a playerby genjix, October 06
Is there anything cooler than being a professional poker player? You play a psychological game where you must keep your emotions in balance otherwise if they're not in check... then a bad month means money lost. The only job, where doing bad means losing money.
I want to define a few things that have worked for me. Not for anyone else, but for me.
1) Having a good dose of skepticism when reading advice is paramount. Everything you will read will be contradictory and a wave of popular opinion will be against your own. Taking what you read and being _able_ to apply it based on your own experiences will allow you, like a scientist, to see what works and what doesn't.
As a teenage boxer at competitive level I had to travel to surrounding towns because my own town was too small. New clubs and new trainers, each teaching a different style and a new technique. A few times a trainer might say that *something* you did was wrong and this is the right way. Usually they were right, having more experience. But often enough there was no right or wrong and it was just a matter of style.
Being able to improve as a poker player means being able to take a new piece of advice and see how it works. Is this bad advice? What can I learn from this? Maybe it tells me more other regs and what they might do. Even great players I respect, say things that make me shake my head in disbelief. There's a lot of noise out there and diamonds among the ruff.
2) Imagining scenarios is a nice way to streamline your play. This other move may have caused a cascading alternate reality and have faarrr off consequences. The ability to make abstract reasoning and future predictions is what makes us so intelligent as humans. You using these tools better than your opponents is what makes you the better poker player.
The most elementary mathematics- use of weighted averages and probabilities is another tool.
You can use to formalise your thoughts into a solid representation. Having the solid form of your thoughts down allows you to move them, manipulate them and come up with new exciting possibilities. Not essential but a *powerful* tool in the poker players toolkit.
3) This last concept is the most useful IMO. Playing lower limits time to time. A lot of the guys here make fun of playing micro limits... somehow they're above small money (?).
If you're tilted and losing money, why not play a lower limit and lose *less* money? Or you're playing too loose bcos of that HU session you had earlier- a 5nl session will screw you in tight tight! You'll recede away from bad bluffs like a slug being burnt as you get called by Ace-hi.
Even trying out new moves- players are still trying to win at 10nl+ but they're just so bad that they can't! Players range from super nits playing JJ+ AK to super stations playing 75% hands A gold mine of player types to test against.
Need 1K to be transfer from ps to ub. Will swap with well known lper only. Can send first if this condition is filled, possibility of making it by increments. see you
Sup LP? Its been a while since Ive been blogging here. Ive been super busy with school/poker/partying and what not but I think being able to blog helps my game and helps me get other htings off my chest so Im going to start it up again.
One problem Ive been having lately is getting on some sort of schedule. It seems like there just isnt enough hours in the day. I have some pretty long days at school so I think that If I can get on some sort of schedule and stick to it Ill become a lot more organized in every aspect.
So Im going to do a day to day breakdown right now:
MONDAY

So for the most part my schedule is the same during the week. I really need to stick to it because right now Im all over the place. I need to make time for both school work and poker. School work has to come first though or Ill probably end up regretting it. LAtely Poker has been coming first which is not the way it should be. I only have one responcibility in my life right now and that is to do well in school so there really is no excuse for me not to do so. It will take a lot of discipline on my part to stick to this type of schedule but in the long run by doing so it will prove to be very beneficial to my school work as well as my poker game.
Im going to try and do a blog post almost everyday. In it, Im going to review the DC video I watched as well as talk about the sessions I had for the day. Ill try to throw in atleast one hand that kind of threw me off and hopefully you guys will give me some feedback on how bad I played it lol.
But anyways, I already fucked my schedule up this morning but I do have a test today so I guess I should get back to studying.

Fighting w/ex + long day at work + poker= Tiltby PortugalFinest, October 06
FIghting again with the ex....She is a real pile of shit sometimes...Logged on to FTP, play in some FTOPS sats, only to get 3outed in 3 straight tourneys within maybe 5 minutes of each other....I've read on here sooooo many times about how fucking girls can tilt you soooo much...Truly understand it...then you had some bad poker...eh..
I cashed out for the first time last week for 1k, leaving myself with $200 to build up again. Down to $250 after tonights debacle + life tilt. Going to play way more, esp on weekends with the girl out of the picture. Hopefully this leads to bigger profits...
Best way to get chips from a lagtards?by RaiZ, October 06
Right now i'm on his left, but i'm never getting goods cards...
I was wondering what i should do since he 3 barrels MOST of the time and sometimes get the right card on the river ?
So far the best way i found was to play calling station and when i think i've almost the nuts i 3 bets. Sometimes he fold but sometimes he calls with mostly one pair..
I'm really confused here...
By calling station i mean : call and see if i've top pair good kicker at least on flop otherwise fold. 3bet or 4bet shove isn't an option because he'd only fold or call with AK AQ++ at the very least and QQ++
Edit : stats of the villain : 81/52 AF : 4,4 flop 4,4 turn 3.6 river 6.3...
