| | God i hate it. by RaiZ, November 19
Hate it when :
- I have AA and raise to 4BB (my auto standard raise on nl2) and nobody calls
- I call/raise with pp and get set and nobody calls my raise flop
- When i get a set there's always a scary card on turn.
- When i'm still getting called they goes allin on river.
- Whenever i get TPTK, it never goes to turn / river
- Whenever i've QQ KK and goes allin I get called by better.
And most importantly : My highest revenue are from drawing hands by going allin. That's what scares me the MOST because it seems like pstars is rigged even though i'm getting lucky as of late...
I just don't like the way i'm playing poker right now, because it seems like i'm playing some lottery...
Help >_<

I dont know if it was the coaching with sniderstyle that helped me, or that after this time I really improved my game, or that I just didnt run like shit like the other times, anyways, I am finally feeling that NL50 is gonna work for me!

| | Pwn Doomswitch by LemOn[5thF], November 19
So its finally here... a doomswitch.
Its not just the EV, far from it, I simply have the worse hand like 90% of the time.
+ Show Spoiler +
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/cc159.KEKE.png
But whatever, this is poker and I have been running soo hot past 2 weeks.
Today I didn't deal with it well as I was tired, and I continued to play at 9 to 12 tables, and I made one bad call when I had a straight, the board paired on he river and he obviously had it.
Anyway, as this can end tomorrow, but I also can be pwned by the deck for weeks, lets all pull together.
DOOMSWITCH BUSTING GUIDELINES
1) Strict Stop loss - 3BI or even 2BI. Why? When you run bad you obviously start thinking about it and any suckout's impact on your mentality will be much higher. Also, move down when you lose 10 or more BI at your limit, or when you hit a 'point of no return' when you are not comfortably rolled for your limit.
2) Cut down on tables - You run bad, your losses will just multiply
3) Brutal table selection on very few tables - You need to have as big of an edge as you can, and use it to your maximum potential.
You might get more tilted when the fish suckout on you a lot(as expected when you run bad), but overall the impact of a cold deck should be smaller if you run 10bb/100 against your villains under neutral conditions than when you play regs.
4) Focus on your play, not results.
-Don't look at your BR unless you are checking if stop loss is in place. Review your hands after the session and check if the suckouts were not in fact your mistakes that you didn't realise. (E.G. you have a straight and villain obvious fullhouse on a paired board, but you call anyway for 3/4 pot shove as you think that this can't happen again)
Obviously its hard to focus on all these points when you have been crushing anything and everyone like Chuck Norris in the the past, but dealing with bad run of cards and not spewing excessively is what will always divide the big winners from breakeven grinder zombies.
Please add your points on How to Pwn doomswitch rules, and we can potentially move it to Main Poker if some good ideas are collected.

| | your msn by collegesucks, November 19
i was wondering if anybody wanted to chat about poker related stuff.
i am at a point in my poker game where i really don't know how much more effort i should exert into playing, because i feel like i'm not improving much right now.
i'm hoping that through discussion i could find some sort of motive to continue trying harder.
i played intermittently for about a year and a half and briefly played up to 200nl and i semi-regularly play live 1/2 and 2/5. i know i can't offer much but there's gotta be some benefit in talking about the game in general. i haven't had much non-forum interaction with other players in those couple of years so i think it would help me a lot if i could get some direct opinion from various players. hopefully it can open up my eyes and perhaps change an ineffective or outdated perception of how this game should be played.
so if you wouldn't mind sharing your msn, shoot me a pm? don't post it outright on this blog, obv.

Just read the entire blog between Neilly and Steal -- Laughed the entire way especially with the mafia threats and the "retard" pictures. And I admire you Daut for being professional about it. In other news got a free $25 on Absolute and ended up running it up to $650 since no one would xfer when I was at $150. Then just said fuck it and cashed it out. Playing NL 50 on Tilt now and running well.

| | Can't help it & HU by Night2o1, November 19
Trying not to make a bunch of results blogs and such while I get myself back together, but I can't help it
I've been running a LOT better the past 7 days? and it all turned around when I made my sleep more regular, and started getting my life a little more balanced (still working on this). Slowhabit's book has also rejuvenated me. The support from all my friends on this site has also been a boon, thanks!
Two days ago I woke up and started a session where in less than 300 hands I was 9 buyins below EV rofl, but I didn't tilt for a second. I ended up putting in a normal-length session and by the end of the day I had a nicely profitable day.
Anyway, I wanted to briefly talk about my how my emotions roll in HU and how I'm trying to control it.
Yesterday I was playing vs some guy at nl100 HU, I think he's like a semi-reg as he has played over 50k hands HU and (was) up 17 buyins. I was running good, but the thing was he was on mega tilt. In 200 hands I won 9buyins from him. I could feel his desperation and could tell he was breaking down. As I slowly worked down his bankroll I could feel his soul crumble, his rage boiling while inside he held back tears. THAT is how tilted he was playing. And I felt bad.
I wanted to quit him around hand 150 because I couldn't handle how bad he was playing and how horrible his tilt was. But I didn't and I persevered until he surely rage-quit his poker client. Afterwards, I took an hour long walk where I thought about how I felt. I determined only that I need to become more alpha, more dominant in my thought processes around poker. My only comfort during this time was that he understood the risks going into the situation (ie playing poker). I know its a weird thing to be worried about, overall, so I'm working on instilling a better mentality so that this isn't such an issue for me.
This crops up a lot more in HU than ring games (for me atleast) because HU is so much more personal. Playing one versus one.. you can detect their thoughts and demeanor so much better imo.
Soooo I won 11 buyins in 2hrs yesterday. LOL

| | regrinding!! by piratematerial, November 19
Going to grind hardcore to up the $400 to $1000 before jumping back into 50nl HU. i want to be able to play 100nl ASAP so i'm going to put in some long days. Also at 175K VPP and it would be good to be back at 100nl to grab the milestone before the year ends.
As long as Stars doesnt come through with my bonus i'm grinding 25nl omaha or low stakes SNGs 10's 20s 30s.
the SNGs seem to be the fastest route to 1k or im just running good. Already played a few hours of PLO (maybe 3) and put in 40 or so SNGs.
The roll is back at $710. hope i can make it back to 100nl before the weekend. Fucking motivated. GOod luck to you all. Run like rabbits!

| | Kind of cool by Xervean, November 19
I haven't lost a session since I figured something out about my game. Its been over two weeks now. Dont play a whole lot... just 1-2k hands a day avg. Just kinda cool I guess. Gonna make a prediction that i'll be crushing midstakes in 3 months for a good clip. Dont really tilt anymore. Almost 100% buddhist now. Anytime I feel bad beated or whatever I just think of death and how we can take nothing with us, and that the origin of all suffering is attachment. After that im pretty much instantly calmed down. Also think of my favorite Tao Te Ching quote "he who feels deprived once had privilege".

| | Really!?! by Bigbobm, November 19
Lately I've developed some weird habits with poker. For a while I would play a standard 2-3 hour session and when I finished, I wouldn't check the results. It's not that I didn't want to, I just wouldn't remember to. It's only when I restart my computer, or feeling like I'm on some wicked tilt that I check it.
I've played two sessions today, and I ended the last one with the impression that I was down a bit or at best break even for both. After looking at my PT the only thing that came to my mind was Aj (Doomer). Allow me to explain. For anyone who has ever met Aj, you are probably familiar with how Aj says 'really' when hes excited or surprised. If you've never met Aj, you really need to make an effort to find him at an event, because I can't find the words to describe it, but it's just one of those things you need to experience.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/e1016.nasty.png
This is basically what I call an Aj 'really' moment. I was pretty shocked to see that I was actually up, and not only that but my red line was pretty much break even. I've always had a non showdown graph that was a constant -5ptbb, so I never really bothered to look at this graph. But I made a few adjustments last month to plug some leaks that I thought I had and I guess it worked a lot better than I had expected. For the last hour or so, I've just been replaying Aj's saying 'really!?' in my head every time I see this graph.
Aside from poker, I'm getting a car tomorrow with the help of Subaru from lp. I'm not really sure what I'm buying but it's definitely nothing fancy, because it's only going to be a winter car. Other than that I turn 23 next week, and I just got Modern Warfare 2. So on that note, I'm gonna go play some video games.

| | How do I take a break? by LemOn[5thF], November 19
I have played 40 hours of poker in like 9 days, which is A LOT when you have a full time job.
My success has been enormous, and I have had the most epic month so far ever.
But...I need a break. Seriously, as I am reaching the burnout phase again and playing equals spewing only (see my previous blog)
But its so hard not to come home, auto open my comp and auto jump to LP, what if I miss anything new right?
So I am asking you guys, what do you do when you want to take your mind completely off poker?
Movies and DVDs are no good as I watch them on my PC (and I get bored so often->Open LP-> Play 2 tables while watching.

| | Poker is gay... by DustySwedeDude, November 19
... For real. At least it feels a lot like I'd imagine it'd be if some big black dude tried to have his way with your behind.
Thus I'm doing mostly other things. Those includes writing a novel (almost done with the first page!) and plotting how I can get some fairly cute girl who's favourite pick up line is "I have a lesbian friend" to dump her bf. Plotting is fun.
Really, really, really looking forward to Warsaw. Will get to hang out with Gawuss and maybe say weird things into a camera while some pretty girl with a mic has to keep her face fairly straight. First one I haven't done before and the second is fun if you've had enough red bull and/or other stuff that messes with your mind.

| | Fuck HU, Go 6max by Jimmit, November 18
OK, played HU for a couple of days, it was a bad experience. HU sucks, I cant handle the swings in that games. For the last days I have played only 6max, and I run more bad than a 89,5 years old paralyzed man.
Have like 15 bi left, so I'm starting at NL10 again and never more going to play heads up. Atleast not in the near future.
