Hey all. I just started poker on ftp and signed up for rakeback on this site so i thought I'd introduce myself
If you know me I'm HeavOnEarth on teamliquid.net and Starcraft. (zerg ftw) I'm a college freshmen at Texas Tech University in Lubbock as well
This year has been a lifestyle change for me. Been doing a lot, just started working out for the first time ever and got pretty solid results, + playing basketball lots and made a couple of tight friends.
In addition, I've started playing poker at my library! At first i played freerolls and playmoney tables on pokerstars. I managed to win a few dollars from a freeroll tournament and built my BR to about $10. Then sadly, variance + my massive leaks as a player ate it up and i went back down to 0$
However, recently i deposited $50 dollars on full tilt! It's been exciting, learned a lot, here's some notable hands.
i love fish

Also, my GPA as of this semester http://i49.tinypic.com/dorofn.jpg
i think i got an 88-89 in calculus + teacher hates me for never showing up to class
= lololol
but otherwise all is well, I'm very pleased with my GPA.
Just finished Modern Warfare 2 campaign and it was pretty damn good. I like the way they do their campaigns with a very involved storyline. I prefer openworld FPS where you're forced to really think it through for yourself rather than having a set course, but MWF2 does a good job of giving you the illusion of choice and not feeling like you're totally forced, plus giving some flanking options now and then.
Story line was very intense, especially the fights in DC. Especially weird cause I'm on vacation in DC visiting family right now, so during the day I drive by and see all these locations and then I go play the game and they're all in ruins. Evokes some intense feelings.
Didn't care for the mission where I "pretended to be a terrorist"... I kept wanting to shoot the guys I was with but figured that wouldn't go well. So I only shot the security guards and police, didn't do the civilian slaughter. Weird that even in a video game that part of me would kick in and go "not gonna do this shit"
Overall the quality is really good, from the voice actors to the graphics. I didn't run it at full settings cause with COD it's really important to have the game respond smoothly since it's such a fast paced FPS, but even at medium settings it looked pretty damn good. And it ran really well. It's hard to find games that look good and run smoothly these days. So often they're built in a way where if your comp isn't juiced up then you're either gonna have a crappy experience or crappy graphics.
I never end up getting into the multi player but I might give it a try. This worked well as a de-tilt tonight after one of those 150 hand sessions where you get doomswitched for many buyins before anything can even get going. If I have another session like that I'll probably open up the multi player, or at least the special ops and take out the tilt with some mass killing. haha.
Almost done taking a small deposit on Stars out of the Micros after FTP banned me when my brother used my comp to try to guess random players' passwords. Wanted to and did make 20 buyins at 5nl 10nl and 25nl (make sure im not terrible) and looks like now i have enough might not even have to grind 50 if i start out decent at 100.
Ehh, I don't have HEM since I wiped for Windows 7, so no graphs.
-$400$340 today, which isn't bad because I was on a lolshot of NL100 (2 tables NL100 after my br hit 2200) and I've been running like GOD at NL50 (I don't think I have had a losing session for all of December, and I've played daily).
Considering my last poker related blogpost was when I was at 800, 1880 isn't a bad number to be at right now.
I don't feel any pain. I'm really proud of myself for quitting once I knew I hit my stoploss, and I'm ready to play NL50 again.
I feel quite comfortable at NL100, but maybe I'll wait until 2500 to take another shot. 4 buyins is so standard that I can lose it at the drop of a hat, so waiting for more of a cushion is a good idea, I think.
Typical blog. Here's a video (I'm transcribing the song for personal use, since the author is apparently not giving it out, even though he says "email me for the sheet music").
GL LP
EDIT: Oh yeah, since starting the p90x (I'm on week 6), I've gained 6lb! Yeah, I'm a skinny asian -_-;;
See below.. Sorry for being a total fag and doing this but last night seriously feels like a dream and I want to celebrate considering this got me out of a huge jam.
Hi i have been a long time lurker of the site, and i am looking to do a 20$ transfer
Have UB, Want Stars, i will send first, i want stars bc i am looking to play in the 1$ 300k, the 10$ 100k, and the 5$ quiz tounry
So about 2 weeks ago my BR dipped down to 2400 from a high of 3300 after some standard(unlucky) shots at 100NL and sub sequential run bad at 50NL when I moved back down. Since then, right around when I joined LP (coincidence??), I have grinded my BR back to 3400 as of yesterday playing mostly 50NL and PLO. I did win 4+ buyins playing 100NL, but since then have decided to stick to 50NL and PLO until I hit 5k. I know I can beat 100NL, but I want to play it safe and refine my game, while also getting used to 8 tabling. I am very comfortable at 50NL and I know I won’t tilt off any buyins. Yesterday I played a 1500 hand session where I ran 5 buyins under EV and it felt great! I really played the best poker I have in a long time and made one of my sickest calls to date, even thought I ended up losing the hand. Good thing is, I feel great going into 2010 and can’t wait to tear it up. Speaking of 2010, here are my goals.
Win 15k online
Be a 200NL/100PLO player
Play 250k Hands (Roughly 5k a week/20k a month)
Hit a 4 figure tourney score (I don’t play many tournies but will try to get some in)
Watch 2 Videos a Week
"The tragedy of life doesn’t lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goals to reach"
Not only do I want to accomplish these goals but I want to surpass them by as much as possible. I feel all of these goals are achievable I am excited to get started! I’m going to clear out my database in HEM for the new year and start fresh! Actually I will probably just set all the time filters to the current year since I don’t want to lose my player data, unless someone knows a way to get around this?? No big deal.
Shout Outs:
New Orleans Saints: Hahahaha perfect no more get spanked by the boys, I hope we see you again!
Nick Folk: Holy god you suck ballz, why do you suck so much balls?? WHYYY
OK, time to make like a banana and get the fuk outta here
I tried to be more assertive in the relationship. Things like ignoring the girl on purpose or saying mean things in order to generate push pull tension.
Fuck, why did I have to listen to dumbass online alpha male advice?
why did I try to fix something that wasn't broken?
Been thinking about this quite a bit, since I'm not that good of a player, and I'm playing microstakes, I must have hell of a lot of leaks. And I've been thinking of ways to identify and spot those leaks.
I do post a lot of hands, but I never really feel I find any leaks doing it anymore. I did at start when I played pocket pairs all wrong and stuff like that.
Ways I can think of to fix leaks atm is:
- Hire a coach to sweath you
- Get a friend to sweath you
- Ask people on here ways to find and plug leaks <3
- Looking through biggest losing hands in pokertracker, evaluate and rethink
I'm wondering if there's way to find leaks in the small pots, I never bother to look at them, and not sure where I'll start, so many. And even if I see I played something wrong, and I go "ahh, ok, should have done that, ok, mm" then move on to the next hand, it doesn't really feel like "YESS, ok, fixed that leak" it kinda just goes away in a haze and I don't notice it.
Any thoughts and feedback on this would be awesome
For the past four days I have become extremely depressed. I never knew what running bad was until this week in my poker career. Everything was going well in NL 50 when I began a few weeks ago... I made quite a bit and then went on a 14 BI downswing only to retrieve the losses later on that week and make even more. Then last Thursday happened. And the next day and the next. I swung down 26 BI at NL 50. Set under set.... I never flopped a set when my my QQ/JJ would run into overpairs preflop. However, 6 times in a row I got all in preflop with an overpair and they flopped a set every single time. It was the most brutal and disgusting thing I have ever seen in my life. But with the Lord on my side I began playing again today only to drop $300 more. I took a break came back at 1 am and it is now 7:30 am and not only did I dig myself out of the $300 hole I managed to make $600 on top of that. So Ship the 19 BI session and I am back!!
what a shitty weekend. lost like 5 buyins at 10NL due to much crazy shit. snowed over here in NY so i was confined to a laggy computer pretty much (was hesitant to play after a while). then i went to my brothers X girlfreinds 21st bday party (my twin brother was killed in a car accident when he was driving her home 2 months ago) and i get into a fight with my girlfreind becuase she went shopping for a job interview today and i wanted to buy her a pair of nice undies or something and she gets all mad and she wants to pay for it blah blah blah some self ritous girl shit. so i say fine np and i get home and i just wanna talk and bs a little and u know how girls give u the 1 word answers "ok" "kk" "yes" shit like that. now i have to get dressed to go to work outside cuz its 7AM. im an electrician and its like fucking 15 degrees out there. merry fucking christmas.
Definitely did not disappoint. I hadn't watched any previews cause I had a feeling it would be good based on what I'd heard and I'm glad I skipped em so that everything was totally new to me. I love sci-fi flicks and this one was top notch. Special effects were so good. It's sick what they can do now... it's pretty much limited to the imagination (and budget of course).
Hello all, I am a new poster here and thought I would post up a blog, as I am currently getting started (again) online. I have played poker four years, started playing on lunch breaks in school with a few friends who seemed to know the game. Basicly the four years I have played have been very up and down, until last year though I was an awful fish until last year, I have got heavily involved in the poker society at Leicester University this year and last and this has defiantly helped my poker, Last year I had a 2/3k roll but found myself dipping in and out of it too often, as i am a broke student with no job! So my roll was always pretty fluid and although i played nl50, i think i just rode variance up and down about break even.
Anyway this year I got a Job in March at a local casino, and now I have enough money back to really think about having an untouchable bankroll again. I have started up a small $200 roll at nl10 and I am going to do kickbacks and stuff to get my roll up to $1,000, which will mean i can play nl25. I took a shot over the summer when i had a 2k roll at nl100 and made like 1k in a week, then blew it all back at nl200, being a moron, my girlfriend found out and took my roll off of me, put it in an account and said i cannot touch it until i can actually learn to play only with what i can afford to lose ( shes brilliant at keeping me level headed)
I know realise i can’t justify having no car, no house and no holiday booked whilst playing nl50. So I’m proving to her i can build my own roll outside of it affecting us, since i moved in with her in july she has every right to boss me about money tbf.
Anyway i have played some live MTT’S in Birmingham and won a little bit of cash (like $400) so i said i would use half of it for a online roll roll. A friend of mine introduced me to kickbacks and i just finished my first one on Stars. Going well so far, i have managed to really push hard over the first 11k hands. Heres the graph for you guys keeping it up is my main goal for sure, but 15 bb/100 might be a little much to maintain .
I cleared a $50 bonus, so after 5k hands, im fucking breakeven. Fucking great. Sometimes i just hate weekend donks, but i know they are the most profitable...
