there's this awesome batman vs joker poker picture that was posted somewhere in the ROFL thread and I cannot find it for the life of me. Anyone have a link to it? :[
It's the one with the K2345 board and batman leads on the river.
Excellent food for thoughtby Mariuslol, December 22
- There’s no comfort in the growth zone and there’s no growth in the comfort zone.
- When you get comfortable, you get stale. And when you get stale… Someone else who “gets it” passes you by and leaves you in the dust.
- It can be uncomfortable to grow.
GOOD!
The tingle means it’s working : ) That feeling of being uncomfortable means that you are growing.
- I believe hand reading is a function of your mental / emotional state at the time more than anything else.
(Ever noticed that some days you can put people on hands right and left, other days you´re just fumbling in the dark? They haven´t changed, you haven´t changed, your skills have not diminished. But you are probably not in that same emotional state you were in when playing the first game.)
- The reason you struggle with the more subtle technical aspects is that they usually require a good and clean state of mind whilst playing and analyzing.
- If you are on constant subtle tilt you will never understand your own image, your opponents projected image vs the way they actually play, what your history with a specific opponent really means and CORRECT adjustments (as opposed to a couple of 3 bets and now you´re waiting to shove any 2)
- what all this basically boils down to; hand reading and putting your opponent on accurate ranges, and knowing what to do with those ranges. These qualities will separate a 2 ptbb winner, from a 5 ptbb winner.
- Good idea to review yesterday's hands at the start of a new day, as prep game, and at higher stakes, take notes on specific regulars when not playing to prep.
- Check list on every hand someone calls or raises you, ask yourself his range of hands.
- Common mistake to be "on the ball" first 5 minuts, and then go into Droid mode for the rest of the session.
- Just start out by doing this every time you have any preflop decisions. Then extend to the flop. Then extend to asking yourself about your perceived range (2nd level).
- The absolute most important thing when faced with a big decision, is to first breathe and relax for a couple of seconds.
- The greatest lesson that can be applied to your poker game is the buddhist lesson of being mindful and aware of one´s thoughts and actions at all times.
(Hmm, I should find out more about meditating)
- Optional (Before every session, make a short little goal for that session). To play very tight first 15 minuts, don't spew or go overboard.
well I just had a -9 bi session at 50nl (lol what a joke?) which is absolutely beyond retarded (even more retarded than the players at this limit).
Running 12 bi under EV this month and that doesn't take into account all the countless suckouts and coolers which never seem to stop. I'm actually negative for the month now (after a semi-good start to the month) and I'm debating on just stopping for the month (or just forever) because I'm pretty fed up. So that means this might actually be my first losing month ever.
When you read about variance and stuff they always write about how you'll have periods where you can't believe how bad you're running and you didn't think it would be possible to run like such shit etc etc. Well that period is now for me.
FUUUU
P.S. lemon if you come in here and start telling me about the nature of the game and variance I think I will shoot myself (so please don't)
wats up! been trolling for months with occasional comments here and there but yeah. i also played sc. ID was soul)t(moon along with few others. started playing online poker like a year back off and on but as of now been playing for 2 months straight so tryin to keep that up. atm im just playing sit and goes 6 players seems easy money for me. playing 10s and 20s so hope it keeps going well for me so i can move up!
Hey all. I just started poker on ftp and signed up for rakeback on this site so i thought I'd introduce myself
If you know me I'm HeavOnEarth on teamliquid.net and Starcraft. (zerg ftw) I'm a college freshmen at Texas Tech University in Lubbock as well
This year has been a lifestyle change for me. Been doing a lot, just started working out for the first time ever and got pretty solid results, + playing basketball lots and made a couple of tight friends.
In addition, I've started playing poker at my library! At first i played freerolls and playmoney tables on pokerstars. I managed to win a few dollars from a freeroll tournament and built my BR to about $10. Then sadly, variance + my massive leaks as a player ate it up and i went back down to 0$
However, recently i deposited $50 dollars on full tilt! It's been exciting, learned a lot, here's some notable hands.
i love fish

Also, my GPA as of this semester http://i49.tinypic.com/dorofn.jpg
i think i got an 88-89 in calculus + teacher hates me for never showing up to class
= lololol
but otherwise all is well, I'm very pleased with my GPA.
Just finished Modern Warfare 2 campaign and it was pretty damn good. I like the way they do their campaigns with a very involved storyline. I prefer openworld FPS where you're forced to really think it through for yourself rather than having a set course, but MWF2 does a good job of giving you the illusion of choice and not feeling like you're totally forced, plus giving some flanking options now and then.
Story line was very intense, especially the fights in DC. Especially weird cause I'm on vacation in DC visiting family right now, so during the day I drive by and see all these locations and then I go play the game and they're all in ruins. Evokes some intense feelings.
Didn't care for the mission where I "pretended to be a terrorist"... I kept wanting to shoot the guys I was with but figured that wouldn't go well. So I only shot the security guards and police, didn't do the civilian slaughter. Weird that even in a video game that part of me would kick in and go "not gonna do this shit"
Overall the quality is really good, from the voice actors to the graphics. I didn't run it at full settings cause with COD it's really important to have the game respond smoothly since it's such a fast paced FPS, but even at medium settings it looked pretty damn good. And it ran really well. It's hard to find games that look good and run smoothly these days. So often they're built in a way where if your comp isn't juiced up then you're either gonna have a crappy experience or crappy graphics.
I never end up getting into the multi player but I might give it a try. This worked well as a de-tilt tonight after one of those 150 hand sessions where you get doomswitched for many buyins before anything can even get going. If I have another session like that I'll probably open up the multi player, or at least the special ops and take out the tilt with some mass killing. haha.
Almost done taking a small deposit on Stars out of the Micros after FTP banned me when my brother used my comp to try to guess random players' passwords. Wanted to and did make 20 buyins at 5nl 10nl and 25nl (make sure im not terrible) and looks like now i have enough might not even have to grind 50 if i start out decent at 100.
Ehh, I don't have HEM since I wiped for Windows 7, so no graphs.
-$400$340 today, which isn't bad because I was on a lolshot of NL100 (2 tables NL100 after my br hit 2200) and I've been running like GOD at NL50 (I don't think I have had a losing session for all of December, and I've played daily).
Considering my last poker related blogpost was when I was at 800, 1880 isn't a bad number to be at right now.
I don't feel any pain. I'm really proud of myself for quitting once I knew I hit my stoploss, and I'm ready to play NL50 again.
I feel quite comfortable at NL100, but maybe I'll wait until 2500 to take another shot. 4 buyins is so standard that I can lose it at the drop of a hat, so waiting for more of a cushion is a good idea, I think.
Typical blog. Here's a video (I'm transcribing the song for personal use, since the author is apparently not giving it out, even though he says "email me for the sheet music").

EDIT: Oh yeah, since starting the p90x (I'm on week 6), I've gained 6lb! Yeah, I'm a skinny asian -_-;;
See below.. Sorry for being a total fag and doing this but last night seriously feels like a dream and I want to celebrate considering this got me out of a huge jam.
