I am planning to go to Vegas soon, at the latest in June for WSOP. I have heard and read that the Venetian is the best room in Vegas overall. However, I hear that the competition as such a nice casino is a little tough than at some other, smaller rooms. I hear Bally's 1/2 game is really soft and that MGM's 2/5 game is quite soft as well. Any confirmation? Any other thoughts?
I really been wanting to try 6max for awhile now. I find FR boring, and feel that I could get more out of 6max since I play FR at 19.5/17.5. Although I wouldn't know how to play well preflop, I wouldnt know what to put people on when getting 3bet and stuff. idk what to do, im beating nl100 FR at like 3bb/100 over ~75k hands.
What should I do? if I switch to 6max, should I beat nl50 first? or even nl25? or should I just suck it up and keep playing FR, since beating anything lower than nl100 would be a waste of time..-_-
my redline is nice looking too, something i couldnt have in regular cash games (which is probably why they bored me so much... i hate playing the nuts only)
I've been 4-6 tabling, decided to try 8-tabling today. Was alright, there was a 1 minute stretch where all 8 tables suddenly demanded my attention on top of some text messages so I got distracted, but otherwise I think I can handle 8 tables fine, and probably more.
Hands:
I had a ton of small pots today that somehow all added up for a very nice gain. Here's the biggest wins / losses in nonchronological order.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/791486 - $12.85 - I only have middle set here, but villian had tried mass shenanigans before this hand with marginal stuff so I felt like I was good. Also he would have reraised flop, in which case I might have folded.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/791493 - $7.80 - Not sure if I should have shut down here or not... Flop is dangerous but maybe if I took advantage of villian's passiveness I would have stolen the side pot.
Results:
935 hands
+$20.01
Summary:
I tried 3betting more, got a couple of 4bets in too. I think I lost more than I won on my 3bet hands. I really like 3betting with straight hands, AKQJ, 5678 etc, but overall the betting was probably good for my image at the tables. Sadly my 3bet% for the session is exactly my overall 3bet%. Still need to 3bet more. Oh and, I need 350 more FPP to get to silverstar, 11 more days.
Graph:
I guess I'll include daily graphs from now on. Whoops, graph in bb's, doesn't really matter.
Rush is by far the best thing to ever happen for poker with me. It fits me absolutely perfectly. Since table images are almost impossible to develop I can 3 bet 15-20% of my hands and since play is often deep with the regs I can bluff raise so much and steal so many pots. I never would have thought I would have 4 bet bluffed air so many times till this came out. Love it. I get to play aggressive as fuck and very rarely every get looked up light considering most NL 25 regs have no balls.
Edit: Incredible how easy everyone gives up their blinds. Everyone is just auto folding nitting it up I guess? And since the play is so fast paced I don't think people realize the timing tells they give off making it super easy to hand read.
So basically I just started playing poker for cash monday. Before that i was doing Play Money for a little bit off and on, but I've come from rts games (like other big poker players), looking for something new. I'd consider myself a pretty big fish. I want to learn this game, but having struggles.
So I started at .01/.02 micro stakes, had off and on sessions, mainly i'd just start slacking and be like "eh he probably has this, but screw it call anyway"... Didn't go so well.
Here has been my past few days. I figured I would give rush poker a shot since it seemed like a cool thing, i was up $1 then lost it all.
Live Poker to build the rollby TizmoUK, January 20
Well as you may know i don't really stick to bankroll management went it comes to live poker because i play them to learn, and if i did use BR management id never be able to play!!
Anyway after coming 22nd out of 71 players in the £10 freeze out at my local casino i decided to sit down at the pot limit hold em cash table of £1/£1 blinds.
most of the guys sitting at the table were the same old faces id played before, so i was able to get a feel for how they play straight away, however there were two new faces at the table.
These two players were very drunk and had sat down with the table maximum of £250... well how could i resist. i sat down with £100 and started to see how things would play out.
Turns out in the 1st few hands i get AK and raise in EP, folds to button(a very loose aggressive player) who re-raises me the BB calls, i re-raise, button calls and BB decided to fold.
on a flop of A K 10 i shove and get called by the button who holds pocket tens... oops...A on turn followed by ace on river means im a very lucky boy!
after about an hour of playing no hands i wake up with 44 in the BB, there's several limpers so i check to see a cheap flop. on a flop of 4 5 K, 1st player(very drunk) bets pot, two callers to me, i re- pot which is enough to make the pot around £200, initial raiser snap calls all in! everyone else folds. he tables 7 8, turn brings a blank the river is a 6... what goes around comes around i guess...
after a few up and down pots throughout the night i end up £250 in profit. i hit an open ended straight flush draw against top set and hit my flush on the turn, which the guy paid me off with so was very happy!
hopefully online goes the same but so far after 2000 hands have only made 2 buy -ins, yes only $20... lol
So I made a new account on FTP and requested rakeback from rakebackpros. I wanna deposit 600$ and make use of the 100% sign up bonus and just play from there.
Problem is I have made an FTP acc in the past (without rb) but i dunno the details anymore and it's been quite some time since i played on that account. If FTP finds out will the shut down the old one or will the freeze my money? How big is the chance they find out or should I just mail FTP to close the old account?
I've quit poker. I'll still be playing sometimes but just for fun, it's a shame I spent so long trying to get good and never made it and it feels horrible to stop now after putting in so much time, but the more i play, the more time I waste... It's just not a good option for me. This site has been a great resource over the last 2 years, thanks a lot.
So what now? I am applying for some jobs and it is looking likely I will get a job for some telecomms franchisor, customer service - it will be fucking horrible but much better than wasting my life sat infront of a monitor trying to chase a dream. Hopefully having a job will help me improve my social and make some real life friends, maybe even get a girlfriend and lose my virginity sometime this year. I'm hoping I can come up with a good plan to eventually make money from my photography, because I really don't think I will enjoy this job - if anyone has any suggestions on this let me know... Creating a career out of photography is very hard nowadays since so many people are doing it (badly i might add) and it its generally just oversaturated like hell, you really have to pull off some special shit to get noticed or open up your own business. You can check out some of my photographs at http://www.fluidr.com/photos/dfenner/interesting
I'm entering real life after 3 years of sitting on my ass doing absolutely nothing, what a fucking waste. I've also started working out frequently and have improved my nutrition, running is good as its something I am actually improving on... Started this year running for like 2 mins then needing to take a break, now I can nearly run 5k without a break, fast improvements! I'm not fat or anything so thats probably why I'm improving so fast, just not used to exercising at all.
My advice for anyone who is beginning is to take comments like "anyone can beat nl100 easily" lightly and if you've invested like 6+ months into the game and you're still stuck below nl100, just quit. Unless you're playing this game PURELY for entertainment, which I doubt many people are.
Heres my lifetime graph for you all to laugh it, I believe I started late april/early may 2007, with a total of 2150 hours played. Cashed out about 4-5k, if i worked a minwage job I would've made like 40k probably and I would have a much better social life, work experience and everything. fml .
laptop lagging a lot with the dual screens. thought of buying a desktop but ended up spewing alot more than i should as expected lol
fpps will pay for this shit so it's really no problem anyway. getting coached past few days and it seems that first few sessions were kinda rough changing bad habits but lately ive been noticing that im starting to get used to it and having better results/ less spews and leaks. i dont have a heater yet but im pretty sure this purchase activates my life boomswitch since i notice everytime i spend on computer stuff i go on a crazy crazy heater haha.
im already using a 17inch hp laptop and razer salmosa mouse (which i bought in vegas last summer) and have 2 22inch samsungs and 1 26samsung tv monitor to pair with my new desktop and make my laptop just a backup or for when i travel which is around 4 months from now. here are the parts i bought and getting them tomorrow.

ill be buying new tables and prob chairs tom, rearrange shit all over here coz i really wana take poker more seriously this year and all the clutter tilts me alot. past year i realized was really all my fault and let emotions get the best of me. anyway gl everyone and ill post pics of my new war room soon
took a shot at the rush games and got doomswitched. fish everywhere but o well. i think i was 15 BI under EV?
couldnt care less actually. not even gonna bother with the whine HH and graphs etc.
it's kind of a relieving feeling.
gonna focus on university and working out, studies as well as my social life etc. all i lost was 50$, and that'll be it.
I can honestly say i had fun on liquidpoker.net and enjoyed the community as i was here. Thanks to everyone who offered friendship and advice. GL all.
