| | Moving up Limits by Mayday, September 02
After grinding the tables at 1/2c blinds on stars for three weeks, I've finally reached my goal of $100 profit!
I actually hit it late last night, but I then started to run crazy bad, getting sucked out like crazy, running into coolers like set vs overset, getting aces busted.. I played for the whole day today, and for the first five hours I just couldn't hit a hand. I kept playing my best though. It was really funny what some people would call with. One guy called giant bets on the flop and turn with air, and hit a two-outer gutshot straight vs my flopped set.
In the end though, solid playing prevailed. The hand that pushed me over $200 the second time was pretty funny.
The FR game I had been on had slowly dropped to three handed. One guy (call him bob) started betting 20-30c every -single- round. I just started folding my marginal hands since he'd just raise. I think he was looking to get busted. Anyways, he raises 30c in one hand, and the other guy at the table shoves all in. Bob calls.. with 8s 6s, and hits an 8 vs the other guy's Js Ts. So Bob is now at around $5 stack. I'm deeper than him at around $7.50.
He continues betting 30c pf every single round, and I keep folding to him. I keep getting shit hands like 72o and 34s etc. Nothing worth pushing. Then I get dealt AJo. He bets, I call. Flop comes 34J, 2 hearts. He bets, I shove, he calls. Jack falls on the turn, 6 on the river. Flush draw completes but I take the pot with trip jacks. Woo!
Now its time to move on to the bigger fishes at $5NL !

| | weird day by PplusAD, September 02
So today i started my Poker session with lots of motivation
70 hands later i was down 30 $ = 3 buy ins.
what a bad start for a session.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/hand/hand.php?hand=263633
AK vs AJ on an A flop he caught a J on the river
Also lost QQ vs KJ on a J high board all in cause he also caught a J on the river
and i lost 3 of a kind 7 vs a Full hosue 88877
jeha so basically all the money i made the last 3 days was gone in 10 minutes T_T by 2 bad beats and a cooler.
I still managed to make 35$ back in the next 1200 hands
and so i got today into green
http://img57.imageshack.us/img57/299/pokerde1.jpg
Good thing is definitely that i am playing a shitload more hands than i did in teh past.
3-4 month ago 500-700 hands was a whole day of poker for me
now i do 2100 hands /day on average.
Also played some live Poker with friends
Run shitty as always.
3 euro buy in with rebuy SNGs.
Lost 66 vs 99 on a 569 rainbow board all in.
and lost the second one when i raised with A8 with 4 players being left and the sb pushed. I called he flipped ofer KQs and hit 3 of a kind Kings ...
I didnt rebuy anymore cause i was pissed
-6 euro ( 8.10 $) in live Poker for today.
So all in all i am in the red again and gonna play some more tonight
GL all
EDIT _
after 2 hours of hard grinding , a few bad beats , some coolers and
a 500hands card dead stage
http://www.liquidpoker.net/hand/hand.php?hand=263729
lol
mission accomplished
1,5 K hands played
+ 14,50 $
i am in the green for today

| | changes (?) by SneakrFreakr, September 02
So I decided to change a few things about my life.
#1 Since I gained like 10 kilos in the last 8 months or so, I'm gonna stop eating that much and most importantly I'll stop eating so much junk food. I wanna drop like 10 kilos, but I wouldn't mind 15 Sounds like mission impossible but I'll give it a shot. I'll also try not to eat after 6pm since I've heard it helps a lot and it's healthy. I'll try to limit eating out to once a week.
#2 Because of the same reason I'm gonna start working out and running. I hope I'll be able to go to the gym twice a week and run once or twice a week. I have no idea what sort of exercises should I do to lose weight and reduce the fat (mostly from my belly and legs) so any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
#3 I need to get a better sleep routine. I can't remember when was the last time I went to bed before 3am and because of it I haven't gotten up before 11am in the last 2 months. Usually it's between 12am-1pm.
#4 I'm gonna drink less. In the last 10 days I got really drunk 8 times. I don't think it should be like that. Gonna be really hard cause I'm going to the uni in 2 weeks but I'll try. I'll also try to smoke less. I was thinking about quitting but I can't imagine going out and not smoking while drinking or not having a cigarette after a good meal.
#5 I'll try to stay away from ugly and mediocre girls (in terms of making out and stuff).
#6 Damn I finally have to start playing more poker!
I'd like to hear some suggestions and advice on all that's written above (especially the working out/going on a diet part). Thanks in advance.
--
I'm also pretty pissed off cause apparently Jessice Alba got together with my biggest villain - Cash Warren. But whatever - one day I'll http://img369.imageshack.us/img369/1023/sexsa8.gif and her. But for now..

| | Let's go! by Verbloten, September 02
Ok Guys - a few regulars on this site that I respect have had a little dig at me on a thread that I resurrected which I'm sure is OK in their minds - even if in my mind I believe they might have taken my comments about Anon not quite as they were intended.
I don't wanna talk about that though and they have reinforced for me my goals for the rest of the year. As most of you that know me probably already know - i am a full-time senior consultant for a telecommunications company - I travel interstate on business pretty much every second week and I also have a wife and two little boys. I don't get to play poker that often. However when I do I don't play the right limits and I don't play long enough sessions.
Loco said it perfectly:
Maybe this is why you've been stuck at the same limit for so much time with the fear of moving up, your goals are set pretty low and you are easy to impress, that's no good for a poker player.
I'm easily impressed by players on this site that have so much success but that's slightly misspent as I know how much time and effort they put into it.
I have always played with at least 40 buyins for my limit and I have never stretched myself or put myself to much of a test. I think I have always been scared of failure (?) I guess.. I mean I have grown what was ostensibly $13 to what I have now and I definately don't want to lose that however my 2.8K BR is one month's mortgage payment..
So I decided (last night - before I had Loco and Ket make comments about me - though as I said these were reinforcing) that I would take a shot at this game and see how far I can go.
Ramble ramble. Cliff notes:
I'm going to play solid sessions - at least 1.5 hours a night, 5 tables. I'm going to progress like so:
50NL till 3K
100NL till 4.5K
200NL till 8K
And then we will see where from there?
1 January 2008 I must have played 100K hands and play my best and hopefully the results will put me between my 100NL and my 200NL goal.
GL to all and GL to me! I'm going to keep this updated more often so I can track my progress!

| | NL50 & Final Table & Analysis by NeillyJQ, September 01
Today was a great day, I woke up n watched the WPT Legends Of Poker, then go to my session at around 2:00.
I started the day on a stretch of serious coolers, losing 3 buy-ins in 5 minutes. No worries though, took a few minute break and came back to try again.
Things really heated up for me after the break and I won back what I lost, and kept the grind on. I decided to play in some tournies as well, and got to the FT of a $20 180 man SnG to finish 5th for $250. At the end of this tourney RainKhan saw the rail thread I had up, and msn'd me and railed along. He taught me about 200% more about FT poker than I knew in about 5 seconds. This guys a genius when it comes to tourney poker, its a given why hes FT'ing the WSOP ME.
A great day to say the least, up about 10 buy-ins by the end of the session with the cash & tournament winnings put together.
Heres my stats from todays cash session;
During current Hold'em session you were dealt 3714 hands and saw flop:
- 321 out of 740 times while in big blind (43%)
- 124 out of 742 times while in small blind (16%)
- 230 out of 2232 times in other positions (10%)
- a total of 675 out of 3714 (18%)
Pots won at showdown - 116 of 173 (67%) *BALLIN*
Pots won without showdown - 421
Heres alot of key hands I played (pots of 60BB+)
vs mckh and xxmelvin1 - Best hand of the day by far, and my biggest pot in the last couple months. I call mxkh's raise PF with 99 oop, and melvin comes along. Check flop that brings a straight, a flush draw, and multiple open enders. mxkh continuation bets very strong, and I reraise from OOP trying to represent a hand like JQs, or TPTK. To my suprise melvin calls all this action and mckh reshoves! I instantly call with my set and we take this to the river. Lovin this pot!
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262911
vs Milan8 - UTG shorty pops it up, I call with 55 knowing theres alot of bigstacks at the table that will like to play with me here. Bigstack repops it to $7, I lick my lips and we head to a flop. I lead my set on the flop for a PSB trying to induce the FD to reshove or have any overpair stack off. Guy behind me reshoves and I instacall to take down the pot.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/263041
vs VictorFH - This guy was playing back at me constantly for the first hour at the table, and I was giving him a ton of respect. Then saw one of the hands he showed down at the river was 56os in MP. After that, he lost all my respect and I couldn't really believe any of his bets. He minraises in MP and I reraise to isolate with AQs. Flop comes K93 and he donkbets out 1.50 into a pot of $10. At this point I feel like I'm probably ahead of a gutshot straight draw or he something like bottom pair so I call. Turn brings out nothing and he donkbets small again. I'm thinking he obv has nothing since hes not betting to protect vs the draws out there so I call again. I river my ace and it brings out a flush. He donkbets $25 into the pot, but it makes no sense he would bet that with the flush since he would want value. So I call and see his 58os and scoop the pot. weee
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/263037
vs BosesGenie - Boses opens in MP 4x and I repop with AA IP. I flop top set and figure he can't really have an ace so I check behind. turn brings out a queen, and its time to bet. I drop out a 3/4 pot bet and get called. On the river he checks and I fire out a strong bet trying to rep JJ stealing or smthing and he reshoves for $3 more with QK. Weee
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/263000
vs NineMil - I open raise 88 in MP and get called in the BB. He donks out on the K8x flop and its pretty obvious he has QK/AK. I reraise to build the pot and he calls. Turn brings another junk card. I bet $13 into a $19 pot, hoping that if he calls the pot will be $45, which will get his last $27 in easy based on pot odds (27/73 river he can't really fold a king) He does me a favor and reshoves though, so I take it down vs his AK.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262961
vs cutslother - he open limps UTG and I isolate with A7s IP. I flop the slot machine 777 and lead strong trying to rep a cont bet with two face cards. He falls for the bait and we're off to the turn. Turn brings a gutshot that completes and a flush draw. He leads oop for an 80% pot bet. At this point I have a decision, does he have the flush? I didn't think so, I think he woulda checked it or bet it smaller for value, so I make the optimal shove. I expected him to have AT with the As or a hand similiar to that, but he shows down A6os with the As..lol..sweet
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262943
vs Baby1 - LOL!
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262962
vs Phobia101 - button raises and I repop to 3.2x PF, and he calls. I flop TPTK and lead strong, get called and figure he has a weaker ace, maybe even AQ for top two. Turn comes out and his stack is same as potsize so I shove and get called by JQ. River top two not that I needed it, sweet.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262938
vs ezymonyp - I open raise A6h otb and get called by a laggy player in the sb. I flop gin and lead strong. He reraises me even stronger and I flat in position to discuise the strength of my hand. He open shoves when the turn pairs the 4, its pretty obvious he didn't have a boat or he woulda bet for value, so I instacall! TOO BAD! RIVER 4, his top pair turns into a fucking boat hahahhaaha. oh well.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262877
vs ezymonyp - I raise 45s to isolate a adam UTG. We both have $70 stacks, the implied odds seem good enough. I get reraised light IP by ezymonyp and call as he gave me good odds to crack his hand. I flop two pair on a flush board and it goes check check (was going to check-raise him strong on the flop). Turn brings a 3, and I lead the pot. He instantly reraises strong and I shove, figuring him for an overpair or TPTKwAd. He has AA and rivers a diamond, wahh wahh.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262875
vs duffryder7 - I isolate the limper with 77 IP and get called. Flop my set on a board that contains a flush draw, straight draw and a Q for top pair. He donks out strong OOP and I repop 3x his bet. On the turn we get it in and my set over set dominates his. Like what.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262545
vs Seanrabi09 - I just sat at this table behind a superstack in seanrabi09. I decide I wanna atleast take a big chunk of it and reraise him IP to isolate his minraise PF with 46s.
He calls and I flop an open ender. I bet out fairly weak to see if he has a King or air, he reraises so its sure he has a king. I flat and turn gin. He checks, I know he has a king, I bet 14 leaving 24 to get in on the river and he reshoves me. I got the nuts dude, the nuts. CALL. Weee
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262529
Thats most of the big pots I've played in the last couple days, very happy w/ the results and look forward to continuing NL50 6max. I've been loving it here and running fairly well most of the time as well.
Gonna go watch some TV, drink a beer n relax.
GL everyone,

| | is my new room sweet? by nolan, September 01
yo yo. just moved into the new place. it's an old firehouse that has been converted into a living quarters. i live with like a million dudes or something. i'm on the third floor and it's pretty dope. my brother who is closest in age to me (19 going on 20) is moving across the street with his girly girl which is whack as shit but i'm glad we'll be able to hang out more cause he's the man and i trained him correctly so he's super legit.
anyways. here are pics of my new room. i went for actual style with this one. there is a 40" plasma (the one on Stars FPP store) coming in any day now that is going to be wall mounted above my two monitors so keep that in mind.
If you got any suggestions for improvements I would appreciate them. Even if they're a bit negative in context .

| | (^_^) August record by lachlan_fearn, September 01
Ok, here's the history of my poker career.
August 2006: Downloaded an episode of the WSOP 2004 final table, where some lady won it against Eric Seidel. I found it really entertaining and went on to watch a few more episodes where Raymer won the WSOP. Didn't do much else to do with poker though.
Jan 2007: Played poker at a friends house, $10 buy in, for about 5 days in a row during holidays. Ended up with about $50 profit.
February 2007: Downloaded pacific poker, and played a bit on the free money tables. Was ok, didn't get addicted or anything.
March 2007: Started getting into starcraft, pretty late bloomer but it fascinated me. Browsed teamliquid a bit.
May 2007: Saw some link to liquidpoker.net, had a look around. Didn't really interest me, didn't understand what it was.
June 2007: Downloaded Poker Stars, and played a bit more on the playmoney tournaments. Thought I was ok at it, seemed to win pretty often.
July 2007: Read a bit more on liquid poker one time when i was bored, and it was amazing to see all these people, such as rekrul, a former starcraft player, winning a WSOP title and stuff. I deposited $30 on party poker, lost it within a few days.
Mid August 2007: Went to a casino, really wanted to try live poker. Bought in for $100 (AUD) and lost it all.
I was pretty drunk and held AJ suited. Flop came out KJT, everoyne bet so i just limped in. Didn't realise it was costing me $5-$10 everytime i limped. Before long i was all-in and miserable that i'd called it.
Turn came a Ten, River came another Ten. At this point i thought i only had a pair of jacks, whereas i actually had a fullhouse, ten's full of jacks.
My mate who is playing next to me turns over AQ, a straight. I just throw my cards into the muck thinking i'm beat. The idiot down the table turns over Jx, same hand i had, and wins a huge pot. Felt like shit for the next week or so, probably not drinking again if i ever play live.
Late August: Have one more try at online poker. I deposit another $30 on partypoker, and $10 on pokerstars. Also get PokerTracker working and try to play really well etc etc.
So after about 10 days of playing on both accounts, things are going pretty well.
Have gone from $25USD --> $60 on PP and $10 to $30 on PS.

So hopefully i'll just keep this up and try and make my way up to 0.02/0.05c limits soon enough.
Does anyone know what i should have before i make this jump? I read someone said $250...
Anyway wish me luck? ^_^

| | August by KrappyKonnect, September 01
August was bad. Won like 400 dollars after being stuck for the majority of the month. Im really on my game at razz. It seems like I'm getting the luck and Im making some pretty nice bluffs. I really found a perfect aggression factor on every street in almost every situation. It feels good to be playing this well again. Im already up 1k in september, and its also thanks to the emergence of my sng game. I moved up to 9 tabling 60$ sngs.
After 4 sets of 9: $600, $300, $250, $250, for $1400 dollars worth of profit. Things are starting to pick up for me woohoo:D

I was looking through my emails and found :
A party Poker offer " free 50 $ to play with"
I was so not taking adavantage of that !

took me about 20 seconds till the dark side won
AT least i managed to stay away from playing SNGS
