Maybe not the best idea... by Rhaegar, January 09

I thought about those articles I promised to write and realized that I couldn't write that many without giving out too much or making them rather pointless. And teaching people how to play poker is really not that altruistic as it might seem, lol...

So I won't write on a regular basis, but I might write some more articles if I find a worth it topic. I can write a pretty good article about mindset/mistakes/self-control and self-improvement but I wont promise it will be soon.

If you can give me some good ideas, I might write some more.

50NL by devddd, January 09

850 hands. +$90. 13.3/8.

Solid, was a bit unsettled early. I find once i have a bit of a stack between $75 - $100 i play better.

I am off to melbourne for aussie millions on Friday. Not gonna play any tourneys, but going with a good friend and going to play some ring games & we are staying at the Crown casino. Looking forward to it.

I have had a good week so far. Lets hope it can continue.
Got some nice bonus clearing soon enough and also rake back is nice to have again...

good luck 2 u all. take care.

But todays session ran so fucking good +6bi over 1k hands.
Here some hands from todays session:

New beginning by True, January 09

I don´t like fullring. It prevents me from playing LAG, which i enjoy far more than just sitting there waiting for hands. So, i decided that i´ll move from Partypoker to Pokerstars since PP has no 6 max NL10. I consider this a new beginning, thus i decided that i´d start a blog to keep track of my own progress.

First impressions; Seems fine, took me a while to adjust the settings to suit me. I seem to have accidentally used some sort of cash cheat code since after my first session of only 500 hands i´m up 8 buyins :|

Back to the basics by NeillyJQ, January 09

Man...what a ride i've been on w/ poker lately.

well, i finally found myself bust online, with close to 3k in the bank.

I put $600 on stars and am going to start at NL25 6max, and move to NL50 6max at $1200 or so.

Raszi taught me HU a while back, I thought I was uber at it and lost all my online monies sickly...

still have a few G's left, gotta right this ship!

GL everyone,
Ryan (DReaMe)

bad stretch by Big_Rob_48, January 09

It could get muuuch worse, but when I start to run bad I think I try to play a low variance style and just donksmash more often to try to get my confidence back to make sure the downswings don't get crazy.

I'm actually up for the month cuz i played some 1/2nl for fun but i'm tryin to be strictly 2/4 pretty much now.

http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/3289/400nleventd5.jpg

I think this is standard shit but I only post when I do well so I might as well post this crap.

I really need to get serious once school starts again and put in like 80k hands in 4 weeks at 2/4 starting next monday

from donk test some highs by Gsr_01_integ, January 09

Tournaments

This is the ability to change your strategy, hand strengths, calling and pushing ranges as blinds and antes rise. It is most useful during tournament play, but is useful in dealing with short stacks in deeper stacked cash game play. It is important to learn tournament skills even for cash game specialists. Strong tournament skills should translate to more tournament cashes and deeper finishes.

Your Tournament Play score of 143 is exceptionally higher than your average score. This score is better than 99.79% of all persons taking this test.

Computational Speed

Solving problems quickly indicates a combination of experience and card sense. Experienced players can often play most hands automatically, and only require significant thought for the most complex situations. Experienced players should easily answer a good amount of the questions on this test, leaving extra time to focus on the more complex situations.

Your Computational Speed score of 125 is exceptionally higher than your average score. This score is better than 95.22% of all persons taking this test.

Hand Selection

It is important choose which hands to play by adjusting for position, stack sizes, and the tendencies of your opponents. Beginners often have no awareness of relative hand strength, often play weak hands out of position, or easily dominated hands against tight opponents.

Your Hand selection score of 118 is exceptionally higher than your average score. This score is better than 88.49% of all persons taking this test.

Everything else is pretty much on avg with everyone else

hard work pays off by Gsr_01_integ, January 08

Ok so i've been grinding at the low level tables from an 8 dollar start from money left on stars from years ago. Tonight I finally broke the 100 mark. Got my roll on all the way up to 109.45. still a long time to grind out to be able to sit nicely at a higher level. With stars playing the sng levels is very tricky cause the 1.20bi the next level is the 3.40 level any one know what the right time to move up to the higher levels or even wait just to sit nicely at the 5.50 tables for the sng. Im a solid tourney player and a pretty decent cash player but its easier for me to grind the tourney table. Anyone have any idea how much of a roll would be perfect to 10 table 5.50 tables. All comments are welcome thanks to all who reply
thanks,
B

Switched back to limit by angryfishes, January 08

So there i was grinding NL25 and NL10, got sucked out on the river over and over again, lost to runner runner - the worst things imaginable that could happen, happened.

I played solid poker, but still got tore a new asshole. My bankroll dropped to 220 and I was MAD, TILT MAD. But i still wanted to play. So i switched to limit to avoid spews and viola, in 4 hours my bankroll went back up to 560. Half of that was the $200 bonus which cleared sooooooooo fast at 0.5/1 limit so it means i still made 140 in that session.

I think im gonna give limit another shot now, while i play NL on DTD where my other bankroll is in pounds. Having 2 bankrolls is my busto precaution rofl.

Grindin' by bannabop, January 08

So I'm grinding away at 2 NL right now. Making some solid progress I think. Here's my tracker stats.http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/1148/ptrackbf6.png
I hope to keep winning, and lose less money in stupid pots lol Besides that I started my new term on Monday, my classes don't seem to hard so far.. SICCCKK. Won a sick bet against my friend Ben at the last Senators game I went to. They were playing the Lightning, and Ben bet me that the Sens would score six goals, even money bet. Sens didn't score six goals, so I was happy, they also won the game, so I was happy. Win, win for me. But so far betting with Ben I'm down 5 dollars. My two losses were in: 1) Sens scoring six goals against the Predators 2) Losing in Mario Party : (
The nice thing about going to the Sens games is my friend gets really sick club seats for free :D.

ok today by whamm!, January 08

still having a hard time at 50nl 9max fr. won just a buyin today after a mistimed shove (JJ hand). so played 25nl and won 4bi easy in 600 hands which is pretty good since im aiming for 4k by the end of january. i still need to beat 50nl consistently though, ive noticed im really not running well at all at that limit, not more so because of regs and shit, i feel its mainly luck and loosening up a little to steal pots from those nitty fuckers. gtg. and goodluck to all.

here's pt for today: no 50nl but won 1bi at my first session. 25nl for me is ++EV lol
