coming to terms with being a losing player is hard
CrownRoyal, Feb 08 2010
I cannot beat nl25 6max, my ptr is red, i don't understand.
I see the reasons why I should be winning, but I don't win. I'm clearly doing something wrong... when i watch how i used to play when i beat nl200/nl100 over 300k+ hands... I know that i can beat nl25 but i can't. I'm pretty sure I need a coach but i can't afford one
I cannot accept the conditions that i cannot beat nl25 and or am a loser in easy games(any game i have played for 6+ months)
i'm really proud of myself today for holding my game together through what was an interesting sequence of events. i even took a break during the worst of it, came back, and felt myself to be completely under control.

Sad part is I'm almost even for the week with brood war/super bowl betting
I threw a one hitter!!!! For those not familiar with the sport, that's good. Stats: 6 innings, 0 runs given up, 8 strike outs, 2 wAlks. 70 pitches. It would be longer bit this is from my iPod. Gl hf!!!
So I played poker with a couple of friends yesterday.
Some interesting hands
EP Limps MP limps. I Isolate with A9o. Two callers.
(The EP limper is loose/passive I say but in a diff way than MP limper. He is loose generally, but he is had some sweet pots earlier and has built a monster stack...So he is willing to gamble with alott of junk. The MP limper loves to limp and does so with most of his hands...Its hard to put my finger on exactly how loose his range is for limping, nothing too crazy but def v loose)
EP checks. MP bets like $9 into 1.30 pot on AQJ. He only has like $6 behind.
He cant have AQ, AK, QQ, JJ. So the hands that beat me are basically AT(8), AJ(6), QJ(9) KT(16).
I beat 9T(12), Anything below A8(8 each), QT(12), JT(12).
Its pretty close between hands the beat me and hands that I crush//am ahead of...So basically whether the call was correct//not comes down to reads. I still can't really figure out whether the call was good or not.
On the one hand, I have a read on him that he does NOT bet draws aggressively. On the other hand I also have a read that he often likes to slow play the nuts. Ex. I have seen him in a multiway pot where I iso raised with QTss from sb. He limp/flat called with like A3hh from EP. Button flat called as well. Flop was Lowcards//2 hearts. He checked his nut flush draw and when turn heart came he flat called (I bet after I hit a ten I think). Button flat called. Then he value bet river, where I folded.
Whether or not he would take this line with A8 and below, I cannot say.
Also, I have seen him tilt and spew chips when he is losing in a session in the past. (With some stupid calls, Don't remember any particular stupid overbets tho)
I call, and we get the rest in on the turn. (Hiding results)
Hand 2
I raise EP with TT. Caller from the big blind. Flop comes Q53 rainbow 2 spades. I bet for close to pot he calls. Turn comes non spade Ace. He dink leads for like 1/5 of the pot...I feel that he is really weak here, and tbh I dont think he has a Queen. I bet like 2/3 pot. He calls. River is a brick. I Shove what I have left, a pretty decent sized raise.
Anyway this hand was kinda interesting to me cause it raises an interesting question.
On the turn, can I be Bluffing and Value Betting at the same time??
My read on him is that he is bad enough to call with ANY GUTTER and any pocket pair in this spot, which I think he has alot of the time. (Fwiw in the session I raised EP once with AA and KK and he called from blinds with 66 and 55 and he stacked me after hitting a set twice...He was a really short stack both times).
So on the Turn I am value betting against a ton of junk hands. And although his dink bet//body language made me feel he is weak here, its reasonable that he can have queens here. And against Queens, I can bet the Ace, and barrel any decent river to bluff against that part of his range. So on the turn, is it possible to be Value Betting his gutters/pocket pairs and bluffing vs his Queens at the same time??
Would anyone be willing to help me clear my 100% bonus for 600$, i have basicly no points toward it, and realized im not going to have the time to play to clear it. So if anyone wants to clear it for me n take half I would much appreciate it.
Tomorrow is the beginning of a new season. I am the #1 pitcher right now at my school, and am probably at the highest my career has ever been at. Our first game is near my home town, so all my family gets to watch me play. I couldn't be any happier right now. Everything is going well, even poker! I'm very blessed right now to be in the position that i am in.
My one friend jsut got a little puppy husky. The dog is 8 weeks old and a female dog and shes trying to get some names for it. Its white and black and has blue eyes any good names from lp?
Letting everyone know I'm in LA for LAPC right now. Just wondering who from LP is here and playing. If anyone wants to meet up, I'll be playing cash games (10/20 NL in the smaller room) all day starting at 1:00pm PST tomorrow til like 9:00pm. I'll be wearing a blue hoodie and possibly a beanie. Don't be afraid to say hi if you see me! I don't bite! I'm here with GoGators86, A2SteakSause, TradeByDay, Hardcory, Webzilla, and BMW_Golf_Pro2 so I'll introduce ya to the gang if you find me. Ok GL!

january was the worst month so far... I started grinding at the 8th because I was @ my parents for the holidays
Yeah. I can't just be flooding threads with my ramblings for review purposes. So i decided to kinda copy mariuslol and write any notes I have that I would like to hear feedback from in my blog. Of course, any interesting hands I think are thread worthy or that I really want feedback on I will just post of course.
But if I can get feedback on stuff in my blog, thatd be awesome too.
I think a big part of poker is reviewing your hands effectively // ranging based on reads. The two are inter-related I think. Problem is I have for many reasons, taken half assed approach to hand review. And so this is my attempt to work on that part of poker.
This hand is a hypothetical one from a thread i was reading...But I wanted to try to work on ranging it nonetheless for the reasons mentioned.
6 Max game, you are on the button. MP raises and you 3bet. He calls. 100bb stacks.
Lets say he is a 20/18 player that has a fold to 3bet of like 60%
Flop comes KT4 dd.
He checks. You bet 2/3. He calls.
Turn - Bet is better than check I am assuming? I would assume this because he can't have all too many Kings here, and theres probably more draws than made hands. Its just that I can't be compeletely confident because I am not sure what his 3bet calling range is here. How often does he show up with KJs and KTs here? What about offsuit? Do you put 44 in his range?
How many suited connectors // Ax suited type of hands can he have. I thought a decent estimate be a 56s - QJs and A5s-AJs... But what frequency do you think is an accurate estimate to apply to these type of hands? 50%? 25%?
And over a large sample, What type of fold to 3bet% would indicate he calls with suited one gappers?
Draws : 56s-QJs, A5s-AJs
Small Pairs : 55-99
TP : AK(How often??), KQ, KJs
Monsters : KTs, TT, 44, AK
In terms of the turn play...Lets say your reads on the opponent were that he seems the be aggressive with his strong draws, passive with his weaker ones.
you dont have any reads on how he plays his monsters vs TP type of hands.
Of his draws, how strong of a draw do you assume the opponent check/raises the flop with versus hands that he flat calls?
Do you assume he check raises with KQ, AK, KTs, TT, 44 the flop close to 100%? If this is read dependent, what type of read do you look for to know how this works?
Anyway I guess the moral of the story is bet turn is better than check turn cause his monsters and Kings are few and he can have JJ, and a ton of draws.
