Rare session -- afterthoughts
  T8Suited, Sep 20 2008

Basically there's too much stuff going on in my life. So I have quit playing intense poker. Nowadays I am playing once every 2 weeks.

Hands from an enjoyable 500-hand session:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/530794 97c I had a moderate feeling he was slowplaying a set, but I was too weak-tight to shove with a backdoor flush on the board......
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/530791 AA ......but I trapped the dude for his stack the next hand......

...more fun trapping:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/530790 AA Aggro vil time-called PF and snap-pushed on flop

...and more...
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/530792 86s hmm okay......

...and more...
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/530798 AK nice outkicking TP
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/530801 AK same situation, slightly bigger pot

2 encounters with megadonk
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/530796 QQ Now I realize a backdoor straight+flush is worth 10% equity
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/530795 22 ......and then lol'ed it back after I outraced the donkey within one orbit

Reraising PF with AA/KK
  T8Suited, Aug 15 2008

is terrible,
becoz more often than not villain couldn't call a reraise,
and we can win many cbets and some medium pots if we let villain flop top pair or a weaker overpair.
Agree or disagree?

Strip poker......sucks
  T8Suited, Jul 01 2008

Strip poker sounds horny, but it's not my thing. At least IMO not a good way to start romance, because even after the strip my mind is still full of poker.

Or maybe because I always end up losing as I a) run really bad and 2) always do retarded things?

So earlier tonight me and Arielle decided to play some SNG style strip poker. Just a few hands in I called preflop with T3, b3b-pushed a KQ9r flop, she snapped with KK and turned quads, gg.

A few hands later I LRAI preflop with A4 sooted. Arielle called with QQ, and no help for me. Byebye pants.

Last memorable hand we saw a limped flop of 732r. I b3b all-in with 54, she snapped with J7 top pair, but I turned the wheel.

But we were about to go out and meet friends anyways so not much developed.

Around midnight I made almost 4 buyins in 200 hands of 100NL 6max. No skills required -- just run good.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/475708 A8c dream flop vs 2 good players, best hand held
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/475707 KQc RR pot dream flop didn't know opponent was this bad
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/475704 AA needed a suckout at the end but I was way too committed to do anything else

Pretty good day.

BTW what if I had won a few more strip poker games?
Ans: There would be no blog

HU SNGs with girlfriend
  T8Suited, Jun 27 2008

Heads up poker with my girlfriend

I was owning her on this night. I am up like 6 games to 2 over 30 min of play.

First notable hand. Blinds 1/2, her stack ~140 I covered

She standard raised to 7 I flatted with KK in the BB.

Flop KQ5 (lol), I literally laughed out loud and checked. She checked behind.
Turn 8 didn't complete flush, I lead 10 she raised I insta-shoved she instant-called.
"What do you have" I asked
She flipped over an 8.
I flipped over one K.
"I've got 2 8s" She confidently flipped over the other 8 for a set
I faked a frown and then dispiritedly flipped over my other K
River was Q. I burst into laughter and then got physically abused

Next notable hand I was dealt Tc2s in the SB, 1st hand of a new match, blinds 1/2, stacks 160 I completed she standard-raised to 7 I called.

Flop A74 rainbow. She c-bet 10 I float-called.
Turn 4 completing the rainbow. She bet 15 I raised to 40 she called.
River J, she open shoved I snap-called

"What the hell do you have?"
"Nothing. 10-high~" I flipped my hand over.
"Why do you call then? Obviously you lose~"
And then she mucked my hand, and then sheepishly mucked her own hand face down!?
"Hang on" I said, as I quickly grabbed her hand and pulled her 6d5d out of the muck.

Owned.

And then the very next and final hand of the night she got dealt KK and pushed into my AA preflop.

Long Break
  T8Suited, Jun 09 2008

Took a 1-week break after losing like 10 buys at each of NL50 and NL100. Solution: Make them back at higher stakes.

I recorded a nice $700+ today at 200NL:
1) Buy in 60BB deep
2) Pay close attention
3) Watch out for regulars replacing fishes and leave shark-infested tables

Hands
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/462691 KK vs nitty squeezer
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/462690 87d really regret this one -- opponent was loose and not overly aggressive, so it was more likely that he had a better made hand than he picked up extra outs
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/462689 AK dude snapped this preflop and showed his furiosity by 3-betting my next 3 or 4 opens (before I swallowed my pride and left with his money)
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/462688 T8 cute bluff for a nice little pot
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/462683 AA glad I didn't miss value after flatting preflop
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/462682 AK TPTK successful correct fold
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/462681 JJ couldn't put this weirdo on any hand, but I had an overpair so I shoved
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/462680 QQ shrug

I made a sick call
  T8Suited, May 26 2008

This won't make me look like straate, peachy or any renowned online pro. Still, this is probably the sickest call of my life.
This made me full of myself, grinning from ear to ear

OMG I cried
  T8Suited, Feb 15 2008

I had a church choir practice earlier tonight. I'm leaving Canada for good Sat Feb 23rd which means this weekend will be the last time I meet this group of people.

So at the end we gathered around, and as someone was saying the closing prayer all of a sudden I found teardrops rolling down my cheeks!?

This is the first time I cried for a non-girlfriend-related incident in like, what, 15 years? I couldn't believe I did this.

Before people open their eyes I turned away and headed for the bathroom. I hope no one saw it.

Seriously, these people have been genuinely nice to me, I feel grateful to them, and obviously I'll miss them.

Onto something less depressing:

-15 buy-in downswing / recovery
  T8Suited, Feb 05 2008

So one day (last Friday) I decided to play poker and poker Gods decided to deprive me of whatever little poker intelligence that I had. Results: Worst session evah! 511 hands 21/17/4 -$555.2 -54.32 PTBB

It all started with this mild bad beat:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377529 AQ Reraised pot top pair

Next in line
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377528 KQ Opponent was an avid 3-bettor preflop that's the only reason I called and then I flopped those stupid 2 pairs

From there on I lost my ability to play sanely. Such as this:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377527 ATd FAIL

And this
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377525 JJ Not as bad as the previous hand but I snap-shoved this preflop

And this
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377526 AK Probably standard

Finally I decided to quit after this hand
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377530 65d I got extra outs on turn, but it became HOTW material for my opponent.

Saturday. Longest session evah, as I tried to atone for my tilty Friday session. 4282 hands 20/13/2.8 -$74.45 -0.87 PTBB. Hands are listed chronologically

It started of extremely well:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377532 KK Opponent must be thinking: "Does he have top pair? Maybe he does have trips. Now no way he has quads."
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377533 KK Flopped Ace turned out to be innocuous

And then this hand happens
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377534 42d HOTW. For my opponent. I didn't like him very much, and I thought playing 200BB deep would slow him down, but instead he pwned me good

The wheels fell apart quickly
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377535 QQ ABC opponent, stacked
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377536 T9s What the hell was that turn bet? "When in doubt shove" didn't work here
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377537 53d Looked like a combo draw
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377538 ATh No reads at the time. Opponent turned out to be squeaky tight
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377539 85c One of many failed bluffs on this night. No one would fold top pair for me

At this point I bottomed out at -9 buy-ins. Finally some positives happened -- I caught some hands and ran into some donkeys
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377541 KK
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377542 AJ Brutal turn sexy river brutal opponent

And then I decided that I have to bluff off another stack
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377543 AQh Reraised pot, had a few outs, but at the end it was smash head against wall time

Luckily that was last debacle of the night. Things were all rosy from here on. I managed to earn $400 stacks on 2 tables and $200+ stacks on 3 others just when I was about the quit:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377544 JJ I thought the extra large reraise meant he wanted a fold.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377545 QQ Tough situation for otherwise decent opponent
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377546 KK Letting opponent hang himself
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377547 AKh Nice hand nice pot
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377548 65s Botton pair+FD didn't get there, which was a good thing.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377549 44 No one would fold top pair for me on this night. Good thing here.

And finally a productive session tonight (Monday): 1687 hands, 19/12/3.4, $732.10, 21.70 PTBB/100. And I was 8-tabling, too. 4 more than what I usually play.

Even though results were good I played quite scared tonight. At one table there were 2 really aggro players trying to run over me with preflop reraises EVERY SINGLE TIME. And then there was nutshot2 making plays at me at 2 of my tables. What did I do to you? Why do you have to target me?

Stacking events. These are all good:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377512 KK vs 2 players, one of which was a donk
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377513 JJ Standard cooler

And at this table SSDEX and Cookeman were taking turns trying to run over me. At one point I was playing so tentative that I folded KJs UTG and folded AT on the button. In any event I got the last laugh against SSDEX. Twice:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377510 QQ "Perhaps he's got AK instead"
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377511 KK "Perhaps he's really got AK this time"

Finally, some adventures against the MTT master:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377516 44 Standard, he couldn't outdraw me
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377514 AK I was saying byebye to my 1.5 buy-ins when I saw my hand fail to improve on the river.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/377515 99 I had a decent bluff-catcher

I played like a retard yesterday
  T8Suited, Jan 29 2008

Played 2 session on Monday. Didn't have my A-game on either session. Lucky to be up overall.

Afternoon ~800 hands stats missing +$200+
Evening 973 hands 21/14/2.8 -$175

Afternoon. I was doing all kinds of retarded stuff like this:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372589 T9s Thought I could push this nit off his overpair

And this
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372591 72 nuff said

And this
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372592 QQ

I was up a bunch only because I stacked this standard TAG Ace Merrill 3 times. Even though I pwned him on this day I still won't want to play with him again:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372603 AQ When he snap-called me PF I thought I was in trouble, but I flopped good.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372605 33 Didn't make me feel glorious, but I am never embarrassed to show down the winning hand
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372608 AA He was extremely fed up with me after I pushed him off with a 4-bet AI PF another hand, not long after the 33 miracle, but here I flopped good already with the goods.

Evening. Had a few run-ins w/ fellow LPer JBalkenede

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372260 AQd Easy fold PF until megafish got involved. Flop was good enough for me to hang myself.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372261 AK Full-o-sheit line, only slightly better than a coin-flip vs 7-high
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372263 AK Probably standard

Two other hands:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372259 98s Totally butcher this. I checked turn in order to represent a smaller PP testing the waters on the flop, and hope that he would fire again with a big PP
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372262 AA bvb Standard against semibad player
