New Bankroll Challenge
  acdawg712, Dec 02 2008

Due to my recent massive downswing/awful play/tilt i am down to a mere $72 in my BR though it's really more like 119 with joedeertay owing me 22 + 25 in rakeback. This means nothing to me IRL but i still want achieve success in online poker. I am going to grind 1.25 45 person tourneys since they are extremely easy, non-stressful, and fun due to the great structure. I might also throw in 1.25 9 person turbos for the same reason and maybe some 2.25 9 persons when I get all my money.

I had an awful start yesterday with hands like

Today went good only got fucked a little bit , got a 2nd and 3rd in 5 sngs for a $12.20 profit.

In my 2nd place, frustrated my opponent to get in with K9 against my 99 and flop has a K gg.

IN my 3rd place, the players were literally retarded, one player called all in with As3d on a J64hhh and beat a set of 4s. Unfortunately both toned down their aggression/retarded 3 handed and I went out in 3rd.

In one of others, one player had been shoving 50% of hands so i limped AQo and had the misfortune to run into KK.

I have exams soon so I might play sparingly for the next 2 weeks but stay tuned to LP's worst player's blog!

SCtrojans may have quit poker
  acdawg712, May 13 2008

but that doesn't mean he didn't quit without a bang.

I was watching ftops and wondered where sctrojans had gone so i went to P5's to try to look for it. I stumbled upon some of his great recent posts. I'll share a few.

And

Who would give the best reaction?

Hal Lubarsky

Anyway, I suck at poker so there is no news. I can't beat 6.50 sngs, -14 from a peak of +133. I have been running bad, but obviously playing bad too. I won a HU tourney at school so that was fun. I'm going to my internship for the summer, then start playing a .50/1 homegame and some 1/2 and mtts at turning stone in august. GL All,

Got an internship!
  acdawg712, Feb 28 2008

Well, I just got my official offer letter from Aon Consulting. I came home during Spring Break for an interview on Monday. I thought it went well and when I received a voicemail the next day regarding a followup to the interview after missing the call, I didn't really consider that it might be important. Yesterday, they called twice(and I missed both calls) but I finally called them back and they gave me an offer! It's in Somerset, NJ which is about 90 minutes from my house and pays $20/an hour. So I am pretty excited that I won't be bored as hell this summer.

In poker, I have continued to crush live games for about $200 this year. This is playing only 5 times at .25/.50 so it's not bad. I recently deposited $50 on FTP for the bonus. Well by the time the bonus was done I had $97. One day, I saw Stinger885 at his table on FTP. So i flipped for a bit with Gambler2K4, after losing about 10 $2 flips, i won 3 hands to go from $2 to $45. I then picked up KK and I'm like YES. I got it in against gambler's 72 and stinger's 65. The flop was all blanks. Turn 5, river 5. NO!!!!!!! I was down to $80 and that's when I decided to take a break since i had an exam in about 4 days. After the exam, I started playing and just plain losing until I lost everything on Sunday. I was losing 88/12 left and right. Well, that allowed me to concentrate on my Interview which paid off. Well turns out i have $78.94 in rakeback in just 7 days of playing microstakes! I guess I can continue during the summer when I am bored as hell living by myself . Gl all.

Razz
  acdawg712, Jan 03 2008

been playing some razz recently. Decided to put up rest of $24 roll and brought it up to 57 before today. I admittedly played poorly/ran hot in order to make this money. I was very up and down yesterday. But i played well today, maing 23. No huge pots, biggest pot won was $10 so i was able to win many small pots. Anyone else here besides wiredc_4 and buzzard play razz?

Year in Review/New Year's Resolutions
  acdawg712, Dec 31 2007

This year was my best in poker. I used to be a fish and now i know that. I probably made around $1000 this year and that is a lot to me. I was able to pay for some vacations and a lot things that i wanted.

Favorite online hands of the year:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/175428 - Won the $5 360 max tournament. Allowed to start playing online poker seriously

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/178948 - My biggest "real" pot of the year.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/181537 - most satisfying hand of the year. This hand had a humongous suckout on me in my shot at NL50. I won it all back and more. Why i would call a raise with A9o is odd to me, but whatever.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/293369 - 912 BB pot? cool

I'm making the standard resolutions that never make more than a month.

1. Work out more. I'm pretty skinny, but I'm not in great shape and I'm not very strong. I was doing ok earlier this school year, but then my workout partner stopped working out and I don't want to walk 15 minutes in the freezing Michigan cold.

2. Get better grades. I go to University of Michigan and am majoring in Actuarial Mathematics. It's hard. But that doesn't mean i should get a 2.9 and 2.6 in my first 2 semesters. I got a 3.1 this semester and I was lucky to get that. The teachers appreciate effort and will help you out at the end if you show that you care about the class.

3. Pass Exam FM/2 To be an actuary, you have to pass exams in order to get jobs. I already passed the first as a freshman, which is pretty good. If i pass this one, it'll look great to companies.

4. Get with girls? I'm pretty bad with girls, so I have improve that, not much else to say.

5. Spend less money/eat better- this going hand in hand since i just randomly waste money on late night/unneccessaryily expensive food.

In poker, i don't have any specific goals besides continue to get better. Sometimes you feel in that zone and you bascially just play the best you can. I want to get into and refine that "zone".

Good luck to all in 2008
Alan

That's it for now
  acdawg712, Oct 18 2007

After my immense heater on Friday, I didn't run/play as well on the next couple days. I was down to 35 after paying back the original 20 on saturday. I was able to grind back to 74 at my peak but fell to 60. I guess that'll cover food for a week. Stay tuned for another valiant attempt around Thanksgiving time.

Good return to online poker
  acdawg712, Oct 12 2007

It's fall break up here at U Michigan so I decided to play some online poker this week. I had played 2 100ks thanks to casino and one day after i was drunk. I got a $20 transfer and started my way up.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/293235 I felt bored and the people from the past few hands seemed way to aggressive so I tripled up immediately.

Gary_to_cool or whatever is my hero, complete donk.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/293359 he played this hand weird, o well thanks.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/293358 I thought my hand was actually good, 2 pairing river didn't hurt.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/293365 Got a little scared but had to send them in

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/293370 Against most player id have to flat here, but this guy would have open pushed a boat here and his line was nothing.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/293369 huge hand. I got lucky enough to flop a set and the monies came in.

163 hands played and saw flop:
- 19 times out of 29 while in small blind (66%)
- 20 times out of 28 while in big blind (71%)
- 41 times out of 106 in other positions (39%)
- a total of 80 times out of 163 (49%)

Pots won at showdown - 14 out of 26 (54%)
Pots won without showdown - 20

This includes 38 random hands. Not bad.

Been watching the WSOP and HSP and reading a lot of LP so maybe I'm getting better just by doing that. Good luck all.
