Movin' on up!
  JoeDeertay, Sep 22 2007

The past 3 days have been very good for the BR and I think I'm going to move up to 25NL ring games. My BR was at ~$325 just a few days ago, and I've taken to $5.50 single-table SNGs to build up faster. I thought I'd try it out and it's been working, so I'm going to keep at it for a while and see how that goes.

!

I've been running 6 SNG tables for the last few days, and I might start playing the $11 SNGs. I'm just glad to be done with the micro donkament FOs and move up to the low-limit MTTs. w00t

Ughhhhhhhh
  JoeDeertay, Sep 22 2007

So after last night I learned how much pregaming too hard can really fuck up your night.

Before we left the dorm I took 9 shots of Captain and then went to Sig Pi to party with my old roommates who are in the frat, and when we went up to one of their rooms he pulled out a bottle of Calico and someone else brought a bottle of Jack. I had the brilliant idea of challenging someone to a chugging match until the first person stopped, so I grabbed the Jack and he grabbed the Calico and we went at it for about 10 or so seconds. That's the last thing I remember until about 5am, where the story gets really interesting...

Apparently I tried walking home myself and ended up getting stopped by a cop, who said that I was walking the wrong way to get back to campus and apparently had only boxers and a t-shirt on(wtf?). He took me home and cited me for underage, and now I don't have my student ID, phone, or room key.

I woke up with a shitload of cuts and bruises all over the place and feel really soar with a bad headache, so I have no idea what the fuck I ended up doing. I kind of remember trying to climb a fence and just falling over the other side. Musta been soooooome night...

Fail
  JoeDeertay, Sep 18 2007

Well it was fun while it lasted, but of course I run cold at the worse possible time. Came in 20th in the round 3 where top 18 got money back and 16 got seats. I got 4+ gapper shit for the last 35 or so minutes of my tourney and ended up pretty much forced to go in in the SB.

So there you have it, I have hereby failed to win the money and I was so close this week. Guess I'll just have to come back next week, and of course then I'll just sell the T$ for cash because I won't have to play in any tourneys with them. Ugh it sucks how close I was too

Almost there...
  JoeDeertay, Sep 17 2007

I have completed the first 2 steps of my 3 step plan to play the $1050 NLH event on Sunday, and it was actually much easier than expected.

Step 1 was playing a $6 Super Tuesday round 1 turbo satellite and winning a round 2 seat, and step 2 was winning the round 2. Now all I have to do is play the round 3 tomorrow and if I win that then I'll be set to use the T$ for the WCOOP event. In the round 3, 1 in every 5 entrants gets a seat, so it's not too hard to win theoretically. The round 2 paid a seat for 1 in every 4.5 entrants, and that was surprisingly easy to play...hopefully I can pull it off. Wish me luck!

Busto...worst beat ever
  JoeDeertay, Sep 12 2007

I'm now busto on my LionCash account after taking a horrible beat by the laundry machines.

I did all my laundry today because I of course waited until I had absolutely no clothes left, and I combined both loads into one dryer, which costs $50c per use and 50 minutes to dry. So it ended up taking me 3 runs through the dryer for my clothes to actually get dry, and on the third one I split both the loads into 2 dryers, so instead of paying once I had to pay 4 times. Now I don't even have enough in my LionCash to run a load of laundry in the washer for $1.50. Looks like I might have to reload and maybe move down stakes next time.

Vector calc is kicking my ASS =[
  JoeDeertay, Sep 11 2007

I'm trying to get this homework done for class tomorrow and I've already been working on it for about 45 minutes, but I've only managed to complete 5 of 19 problems and I still have to study for tomorrow's quiz. I hear this class only gets harder to the point of impossible by semester's end too, so it looks like I'll be hitting the books more often and playing less. It took me about 3 hours to do my physics homework online earlier today too. Ugh college is such a bad beat.

I guess it's a good thing I've been able to log about 5700 hands of my weekly 10k goal so far already this week after Sunday's marathon, so I can spend some time to get ahead in some classes over the next few days. Maybe I'll see some TAs for help or something with this shit after I bomb the quiz

w00t!
  JoeDeertay, Sep 09 2007

I'm sad to say that one of the best weekends I've had at school so far has pretty much come to an end. Friday night was a "Pirates" and Captain Morgan shitshow in the room, and yesturday we spent the whole day BBQing during the PSU vs. ND game (because I don't have tickets this season ). We had about 15 steaks on the grill and 10 chicken breasts between 8 of us, and we washed it all down with a case of Coronas and Woodchuck Raspberry Cider

Watching the Nittany Lions asbolutely destroy the Irish on our home field in front of a full-stadium white-out inspired me to translate that Penn State tenacity to the tables today. I couldn't really sleep all too well last night so I just got up with the sun this morning and started a 6 hour 4197 hand session at about 8 12-tabling $10NL on Stars.

I finished up about 5 BI and brought my total for the last week up to +8 BI in ~13k hands. Here's the 10NL line from PT with some of my stats:

I still don't know how to make or get the graphs that everyone posts, so if someone could tell me that'd be great .

I'm gonna grab some lunch and get ready to play in the 100k with casinocasino's money later on at 3:30. Hopefully I do well and make us both some good money that I can use to try and get into the WCOOP by next Sunday's event through sats or whatnot.

A good session after a bad tourney
  JoeDeertay, Sep 03 2007

I just got back about 2 hours ago from the local poker league tourney off campus early because I misplayed about a third of my stack on a bluff that obv would have worked if I actually went through with it after floating the flop. That had me a little pissed at myself until I got home and vented to acdawg712 about it, then decided to play a little 2 hour ring session.

I just finished playing and the results are good. I got in about 1200 hands 12-tabling $10NL and won about $36. I think I played really well throughout and can honestly say I didn't make any stupid plays. I'm quickly learning how to properly handle 12 tables and still pay attention to everyone and what's going on. Hopefully I keep running well and maybe move up limits within the next month.

Stepping up my game
  JoeDeertay, Sep 03 2007

I finally registered my PT on Saturday and got it up and running again, and I decided to play a couple of ring sessions to try it out and get used to it's full range of functions a little better.

I started playing a lot on Sunday 8-tabling $10NL on my laptop, and while I played I thought I'd watch a couple of the High Stakes Showdown matches on the side (especially since Bautista decided to put up $10k on his "rigged" account ), so I had 10 tables running on my screen at once.

As I played I realized that I was still maintining my games while also being able to actually watch the HU matches. The overlap wasn't THAT bad and I thought that I might as well just try 12-tabling for a bit to see how it went. I was surprised at how relatively easy it is to manage and that it is a lot slower than I thought it would be. So I played 12 tables the rest of Sunday's session and for today's session as well, and got about 4100 hands in for a profit. I think I'll be sticking to 12-tabling from now on.

T$ Experiment Day 1
  JoeDeertay, Aug 31 2007

I went full force trying to earn the T$ to buy into the WCOOP today after I was done with my classes, and finished up $6.20 after playing 11 $2 100k satellites. I won 2, cashed for $6 in one, and lost the rest, but my ROI for the day is around 25%, which isn't bad at all. I would have played more but because my roommates want to pregame and I'm way behind in the tally for the week, I'm just going to quit while I'm ahead and try to catch up before we go downtown

I think I played well today but just ran into some bad luck in a lot of the tourneys I lost. I got my money in good most of the time but just couldn't win against 2 outers and donks 3betting hands like JT preflop. I posted a lot of my key hands in the tourneys today below with some commentary to help me evaluate (or explain, if need be) myself and help me improve for next time:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262422
I wasn't aggro enough after the turn in this hand and it cost me in the end, even if the result would have probably been the same anyway. He had been leading out the flop any time he paired and would always 2barrel if I flatted, so I let him bet again instead of raising the flop. I should have bet more on the turn and river, and probably should have folded the river to his all-in...but then again it WAS only a 70FPP satellite, so I thought he could still just have trips with that raise.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262427
I thought I had a good price to call against his range with better than 2.5-1 here, so I thought if I was going to call I might as well put him in for the last 725 preflop.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262432
Even though I have reasons for my play this is still a badly played hand. The table had been folding A LOT in this one and on that board I thought I could take it down on the turn. I didn't think anyone hit this board at all and that preside probably limped with a couple of high cards. Since he took a while to call my turn bet and because I didn't think this board hit his range and thought that maybe he was floating and planning to bluff me on the river. It was between that and slowplaying to induce another bluff with a boat, and when the river came I thought that he missed the high cards and that he might fold to another bet, but when he insta-pushed I didn't know where I should, so I decided to drop it and wait for the other little stacks to just get eliminated while I waited for a better spot. I also realized that even if he did float me he probably had a better hand anyway. Horribly played.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262438
I slowplayed this hand all the way for 2 reasons: to give myself a better price on every street if he has me beat, and to let him keep betting into me with something like JJ-KK. I thought a raise anywhere might scare him off of a lot of hands that I beat here.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262444
I don't really know why I insta-called here. I thought I probably had him dominated and if he had an underpair then I had a good price (although I didn't really think about the pot odds too much). He was being really tight too, which should have made me stop to think a bit more. I guess the poker gods made the 6 come to teach me a lesson.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262445
I probably should have just pushed pre here, but because he didn't reraise I thought I either had him beat or that he'd fold the flop, and if he did hit then I had a decent price on my push, at least against his total range of hits and misses.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262447
I probably shouldn't have even been in this hand, but I was mining for TP and got what I wanted, so I let him c-bet instead of folding off some hands that would pretty much put me in.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262453
I thought he would bet pretty much any 2 here the way I was folding a lot, and I also thought that he'd have to call with a lot of hands I'm still beating, so I value pushed bottom pair.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262454
I wasn't really comfortable at any point in this hand, but I had to bet here and just tried to give myself the best value I could on the turn, both if he called with a worse hand or pushed with a straight. Too bad I couldn't boat the river.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262456
I was betting for value the whole time here, because there are obv plenty of hands he might call with that I beat. The river made me feel even better about my hand, even if it did comeplete the backdoor flush.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262457
On this hand I thought that I had a decent price on the flop with the overcard, especially if s97 called, because I thought he could call a paired hand that didn't have an A kicker at that price. I obv had to call the turn, but just couldn't complete. Maybe I should have folded the flop, though.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262460
This one was for value if I had him beat, to discourage min-raising, and to help my image for later...kind of like early in a ring game. I failed to realize the fact that if I lost I'd be railing, however. I guess I was lucky not to be beat.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262461
Another hand that I wasn't very comfortable playing, but I though it'd be easier to bet then just check-calling without any real info. When he called the turn I thought I was probably behind, especially when the river paired the board.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262462
This guy had been pushing like every single hand, so I thought ~2.5-1 was a good price against his almost infinite range here. Even if he has an overpair I have on of the better unsuited hands to crack it.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262464
There are still a lot of hands that I'm beating here, so I feel this is an easy call.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262465
This hand just pissed me off...even though I didn't even play it. For some reason the internet at PSU has been fucking retarded, and this time it made me time out AA when I would have flopped the nuts in an action pot Ugh bad beat my Penn State

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262467
Just called here to either double or bust again the wide donkish range of turbo players early in tourneys. Good thing it paid off.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262470
I probably should have just folded this pre, but he had been raising so many hands that I was just hoping I caught him with overs and would double the shortstack. I know it's bad, but I was in a gambling mood for a little bit today.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/262471
I slowplayed this flop because I was sure someone would bet at it...and surely enough, someone decides to push in a multiway pot with middle pair on an A-hi flop.

Now that I'm finally done writing this post I'm going to gulp this glass of Captain Morgan Tattoo rum I have here and go do a line of shots to catch up to my roommates before we leave (Mmmmm...it's like candayyyyyy )
