WSOP $5k 6-max event II
  Joe, Jun 25 2008

So,
it seems that I am going to play in that event. I didnt manage to get cash for PS money but I ran quite ok in cash games so far + my wire transfer deposit just arrived, so I have enough to buyin for the tourney and still have some roll (although marginal) to play up to 5/10 cash games.

I also sold part of my action like I wanted. Following are the people who bought action from me, just for the record:

lostaccount 20% (paid)
Blizzy 10% (paid)
Pulda 10% (paid)
Andrew 2% (paid)
Bohus 2% (paid)
Nogin 1% (paid)

So thats total of 45%.

I am very much looking forward to playing the tournament because it will be my first WSOP event ever! I would also like to know, which other LPer's are going to play it. I think there will be quite a lot of us and I have a feeling someone from LP is going to make a big score in this tourney

WSOP $5k 6max event
  Joe, Jun 22 2008

This event starts in 4 days (on Thursday, June 26) and I am contemplating playing it.

But there are 2 problems:
1. I dont have a lot of cash here in Vegas, only like $9k.
2. I am not sure if I want to invest that much in one tournament. This one is much less important than the first one.

There are 2 solutions for me:
1. I run good in live cash games and win like 5k+ before thursday.
2. I find someone who has enough cash here and is willing to trade some for PS money or to partially stake me.

Also, if I somehow manage to solve problem #1, I will be probably trying to sell about 40% of my action in that tournament.

If I dont solve it and dont play this event, then I am probably going to play the $2k NLHE event few days later, to get some WSOP experience before starting the WSOP ME

See last blog post pls.

Also, if someone wants to swap small part of action in ME, like 2%-5%, let me know. (Swaps count the same as sells => maximum of 40% total swapped + sold).

Hey LP,

I would like to sell part of my action in WSOP ME ($10,000 buyin). Minimum share is 2% for $220. I want to sell maximum of 40%.

Sold/reserved so far:
Ket 20% (booked)
pinbaLL 11% (paid)

lostaccount 2% (paid)

UPDATE: so all the 40% has already been sold or reserved, so unless someone cancels it, I am sold out

May was gay (in poker)
  Joe, Jun 01 2008

In the beginning of May I started to play primarily on Unibet, so I dont have stats for this month (only for the PS part, but thats less than 50%). After pretty bad April I hoped I would make up for it in May, but it didnt happen. My poker results continued to be pretty shitty during the whole month of May. I usually had like 3-4 winning days only to have a big losing day right after. Basically I kept breaking even during the whole month and only managed to save it a little bit in the very end.

The final results for the month: +$5,229. Not sure how many hands I played, but probably around 35k. Pretty bad considering this is what I win or lose during 2-3 regular sessions. Well at least I am finally up from poker overall since April 1.

But apart from poker May was a nice month with the weather finally getting nice and all that stuff

Anyways, I am looking forward to June and I hope to have some decent results before I leave for WSOP. I am coming to Vegas June 18.
Btw a friend of mine who was suppossed to go with me just cancelled it so atm I am looking for a roommate (must be someone I know at least a bit), so if someone is interested PM me asap. I have reserved a nice room of ~700 sq. feet with 2 bedrooms, internet and all kind of stuff, for about $94 / night (for the whole room together, not per person).
So looking forward to Vegas time and to meeting some of you guys there, cya!

April: a losing month
  Joe, Apr 30 2008

April is over, so here I come with a little summary.

Pokerwise, April was a pretty bad month for me. I actually ended up in negative numbers, which didnt happen to me in the last 10 months and only like 2-3 times since the beginning of my "poker career".

Here we go with the results:

So, about -8k for the month. Second worst month ever. Well, I won a little in tournaments and live poker, so it is actually a little better, but I am still down more than 4k overall.
But I feel pretty ok about it, I am definately not down mentally or even close to it. I think I used the downswing well and was able to realise some things I do wrong as well as try out some new things which I might have not tried if I ran better.

For the next month I hope that I will do good again. I would also like to put a little more hands in, but I am not sure if I will be able to, because a) the football (soccer) season began and b) the weather is getting better, so it is more tempting to do something outside.

Also, since WSOP is getting closer, I am gonna have to finalize my plan and get everything arranged in the next weeks. I am still looking for some accomodation in Vegas, so if there is any LP group still having a few places left in their Vegas houses, let me know

I guess thats it for now, later.

March summary: solid cash results + WSOP package
  Joe, Mar 31 2008

March is over, so lets make a summary about what happened, especially poker-wise.

I started this month not very good being about breakeven after the first week. Then things slowly started to go better again, which was good because I was going to play in the Vienna's Spring Poker Festival 3,150€ tournament and confidence was definately needed.

So, I headed off to Vienna for about a week. I met there with Kon (CasinoCasino), who is a cool guy and who bought some action from me, because I didnt feel very comfortable paying the whole buyin myself. The tournament was very good and I also did pretty solid, but failed to reach the money - I busted in 30th place ouf of 172 players after 2 pretty gay setups (AQ vs Q9 on Q94 flop and 96 vs A6 on A96 flop). But it was a good experience as I also played with a few very good players at the tables, for example with DevilFish, who played really good and gave me some inspiration on how to play tournaments. Apart from the tournament, I also played some live cash games there and made back the buyin, so I ended up about even for the whole trip.

After Vienna, I went back home. Kon went with us to stay for a few days in our house. It was definately good as he sweated me a few times and definately helped me improve my game a bit. I think my game became more solid especially preflop during this month and I really like my style now (of course I also run good which helps to it too) :-) .

So, I continued to run good in online cash games and started to play NL 5/10 as my main game, only playing 2/4 and 3/6 when the 5/10 games werent good enough. One of the reasons that I started playing 5/10 more was that I put some money on FTP, where the games seem somewhat softer than at PS plus having money on more sites allows better table selection.

Apart from Hold'Em, I also started to play a bit of Pot Limit Omaha. I am a newb in that game, so I lost a small amount, but I think I am somewhat getting it recently and with the competition being really weak at PLO 1/2 I think I can soon become a winner there.

Ok, enough talking, here are the stats for the month:

Amount-wise I made slightly less than in the 2 previous months, but I also put in less time, so I consider this very good. Obviously I continued running very good as you can see from the stats.

The last, but probably most important, thing happenned today - I won the WSOP MAIN EVENT PACKAGE! The package is worth $12,500. I am really excited about it and looking very much forward to going to Vegas and playing the Main Event. I won it via PS WSOP Steps - I started at step 5 for $700, 4 times I ended 4th to get my ticket back, then on the 5th try I won it and got the step 6 ticket. I wanted to play it right after, but saw mig.com and some other good players playing like every single one of those tourneys. So I waited till the line-up was somewhat softer, then registered and was lucky enough to win it on my first try .

Staking into 3k Euro tourney
  Joe, Mar 03 2008

I would to like to play in the main event of Spring Poker Festival in Vienna. The tournament is a 3000 + 150 Euro (= cca $4800) NLHE freezeout. It starts in 8 days from now (tue March 11).

The thing is, that I am not completely comfortable paying the whole 3k Euro myself, so I am looking to sell part of the action.
I would like to sell at least 40%, at most 70%. I am selling 2% shares at 75/25 (meaning for every 2% share you buy you make 75% of the profits on your 2% - inspired by rnbsalsa ). The price of 1 share (2%) is $96 (or 63 Euro).

Quick summary:
Tournament: $4800 NLHE freezeout
Date: starts March 11
Place: Concord Card Casino, Vienna, Austria
Price of 1 share (2%): $96

As for my tournament poker skills and accomplishments - eventhough I am primarily a cash game player (my main game is NLHE 6-max $2/$4 to $5/$10), I am somewhat up on online tournaments as well.

My top online tournament scores are:
1st place in $10+rebuy tournament for $2,880
2nd place in Daily Fifty Grand ($55 NLHE freezeout) for cca $3,800
1st place in an APPT Sydney satellite for a package worth $9,000.

I play live tournaments way more often than online. I play about 3 tournaments a week in a local casino. Of course these are minor events with like 20-25 players in it. My success rate in these tournaments is pretty solid, but I dont have exact stats to tell you of course. (I think I made it to the money (top 3 usually) about 7-8 times out of last 15 tournaments.)

My MSN is j.samanek@seznam.cz if you want to talk about it more.

February was good
  Joe, Mar 02 2008

So, February is over and I can say that it was another very good month for me in poker. Another one-of-the-best-months-ever month

So basically I continued to run good and I think I improved in certain parts of my game quite some. I opened up my game a bit and was quite pleased to see the results of it. Again, I played mainly the midstakes 6-max games at PokerStars, with occassional NL1k sessions. I mixed up some heads-up too, but didnt do as good at it as I would have liked to.

I think one of the key points that I have been doing good recently is, besides running good, that I put some effort into trying to stay 100% focused all the time while playing. I played 3-4 tables most of the time and really tried my best to watch the action very close. Not only when I was in a hand, but also all other hands. It definately gave me some more information than if I werent doing that and helped me make some good decisions.

As for March, I am sticking to the same game plan - mostly midstakes 6-max @ PS + some NL 5/10 6-max + some midstakes heads-up. I would like to increase the number of hands at NL 5/10 a bit. Although I dont expect to continue winning this much every month, I will certainly do my best to do so or even better

Also, I intend to go to Vienna for the Spring Poker Festival, which starts March 5 and ends March 16. I am probably coming on 10th and staying for about 4-5 days, not sure yet. I know CasinoCasino is coming too, so if someone else is coming, let me know. I am not sure yet if I will play in the main event, but I would like to. I am thinking of trying to sell part of the action because I am not completely comfortable with playing tournaments this expensive. I will probably make another blog-post about this later.

Non-poker-wise, I successfully finished all my remaining classes early in the month, which is nice considering how lazy I am as far as school goes. Later in the month I went to the mountains for snowboarding with my friends for about 5 days. It was a cool trip, eventhough the snow conditions werent that good.

Thats it for February,
Joe
