post book results + coolers
  RICHI8, Nov 17 2009

Last few sessions have been really lame. Today I recoreded a nice -4.5 buy ins. My last 5k hands I ran 10 buy-ins under expectation alone and my W$SD is around 45. lol I'm playing really well but I'm just getting coolered and setup like no other. My poker game has grown leaps and bounds these past few weeks though so I'm extremely happy for that and I know I'm killing NL50 and will continue to do so. I wish I wasn't running like ass or I'd be rolled for NL100 shots. Hopefully I can get my BR to $2500 and take some by the end of the year.

I'd post hand histories of all the suck outs and setups but that doesn't matter and it just crowds the blogs imo. I'm going to post some graphs. After 11.1k hands is when I read SlowHabit's new book. Take note of the HUGE difference in my red line. This book IS the real deal.

This is my November month to date:

This is since reading the book:

I've already played almost 20k hands this month which is awesome because that's my regular monthly hand goal! I'm aiming for 35k hands.

Goal Achieved!
  RICHI8, Nov 15 2009

A few blog posts ago I set that goal that if I did not get my bankroll to $2000 by the end of the year that I would quit poker. Right now I sit here and can gleefully say that I will not have to quit poker. The last few days I've been on absolute heater. It's interesting that I'm running above EV but it's because I'm getting it in ahead and my hands are actually holding up! The other thing is I'm getting tons of action from regulars and I can tell they are getting irritated at some of my moves and spots that I'm putting them in that they make horrendous calls. After hand 11.1k is when I read SlowHabit's new book. Here's my graph of November month to date:

I'll consider taking shots at NL100 when I have 25 buy-ins.

7bi career day
  RICHI8, Nov 13 2009

Ship the run good + play good! Only 12 hours after finishing reading SlowHabit's new book I had the best day of my poker career in terms of winnings and just overall play. My decisions felt all around a lot more crisp and defined. I deployed a couple of his techniques against some of the regulars. A couple of them didn't work but I took notes and hopefully it will set something up for the future.

You can find my review for his book in the official review thread in main poker. As for the day, here's my graph:

I really wanted to keep playing but unfortunately I have to go to work!

SlowHabit book review + today
  RICHI8, Nov 11 2009

All of my bitching and moaning the last few days has given me an opportunity to review SlowHabit's new book for free. I'll be taking some time off the tables the next few days so this will give me some time to read through it and hopefully learn a lot. I'll be posting up a brutally honest review after wards and let you all know how it is. You can read about it SlowHabit's website. This is the same site with the CTS' book that was greatly discussed on here. I should have the review up in a day or so after I finish reading it. Here's more info:

As far as poker goes I've been going out of my mind recently. Sessions have been ridiculously swingy with me starting off going negative immediately, grinding back, and then slamming back down. I've just been grinding it out and sticking to it. I probably would have given up had I not recently bought a 24" monitor but it's kept me motivated to grind and I'm on pace to play the most hands I've ever played in one month + I was on vacation for a week away from everything and I work full-time. I probably bitch and moan as much as everyone on here, and maybe even more, but I'm also the kind to celebrate when something goes good too.

This hand gave me so much joy preflop, crushed my heart on the turn, and gave me life on the river. I'm not close to going busto but I am close to going insane. So here it is:

+ Show Spoiler +

And here's my graph for the month:

Fuck me, right?

Basically gave FTP the middle finger and decided to play the most hands I've ever played in a day.

Also won my biggest pot ever today for ~$196. Aces held up versus Kings! OMG INSANE!!!!!!

oct sucked nov prob too
  RICHI8, Nov 02 2009

Changed the name of my blog to Trial and Tribulation. I felt it was only fitting. I've been running bad for about 800 games of the $12 6mans. It's making me kind of sick and frustrated. I hope it ends soon.
