1/2 godmode (live)
  JoeDeertay, Nov 11 2008

Last night was my first session back in the NL200 games here on campus in getting instarolled in UB donkaments, and boy what a comeback it was.

I decided that I'd only fire one bullet so I just brought $300 in cash with me to the game at about 9pm last night, and at first things weren't going too well. My stack got down to around $98 by like 11pm and I wasn't seeing much and anything I did get just whiffed, but I figured I'd stick it out since the entire table was just LAGtarding and spewing chips around everywhere. Eventually I got my stack to around $450 and then hit perfect-perfect against some overly-loose reg with AKdd on a Kh7c5c flop against his 77, and a 50BB shortstack who had K6 or something. It was thin and somewhat marginal but I know it was the right play to shove over the SS and try to either iso or maybe even get some kind of combo draw to call from the covering reg, especially since we have LOTS of history and he had already shown what kind of hands he would call a RR with and lead the flop that session. Anyway, big pot #1 gets my stack to around $1k.

Then comes the uber pot of all time on campus. About an hour after this hand I was still somewhere around $1k, and some other reg with a lot of history who was in for about $750 had me covered IP. He raised and I called with 77, flop comes A7A, and basically I get a 4bet all in called by AK and scoop the 10BI pot. SHIP ITTTTTTTT!!! Then we keep playing until around 8:30 in the morning, mostly 3 handed for the last 4 or 5 hours, and I make about another $400.

In the end, after ~11 hours of play I managed to turn my $300 into $2315, so I made a profit of $2015 XD. After the game broke I went right to my psych test and owned the shit out of that too. Now I'm just waiting for my roommates to meet me for lunch, go to sleep (because I've been up for about 24 hours now, and I'm sick), then go to another 1/2 game tonight. Hope I can keep running in godmode there too

GL all!

Iowa: 24, Penn State: 23

Thank you Clark for shitting the bed for the second game in a row and giving it away when it counted most. Learn how to not throw the ball 5 yards over the fucking reciever's head into the safety's chest with 4 minutes left up by just 2 next time.

Guess I'll see everyone in Pasadena instead of Miami (if we can somehow not fuck it up against Indiana or MSU...watch us lose to the Spartans too).

FML I wish I wasn't sick or I'd be drowning myself in alcohol somewhere right now.

At least "Tropic Thunder" was good and got me laughing a bit, though.

*sigh*

Halloween...what to be?
  JoeDeertay, Oct 29 2008

So Halloween is friday and I still don't know what I want to be, but so far I've narrowed it down to 2 possibilities:

1) Buy a full Phillies uni and be Cole Hamels (since people say I look like him and they obv just PWNED the Rays in the Fall Classic XD), or

2) Go buy a "deerwatcher" hat, a pipe, and a magnifying glass and get a good old Sherlock Holmes costume going. I think it'd be fun to annoy the shit out of people by going up and "inspecting" them at whatever party/parties I end up going to XD.

I can't decide which one I should do, although I might just do both and go out on friday and saturday night anyway, especially if they are both cheap. I'm sure there won't be a shortage of parties in downtown State College this weekend =].

Anyway, I'm open to suggestions because I need to be something! Let's get those brains churnin' LP!

Thanks and GL

<3 Donkaments + overdue updates
  JoeDeertay, Oct 24 2008

It's been a looooooooooooooooong time since my last update because I haven't really been playing all that much this semester because of school, but I figure now is a perfect time to get back up to speed. I think the last time I made a blogpost was last semester. Since then I've been doing some big things.

At the start of the summer time I decided that I was going to move from stars to FTP to get the deposit bonus and rakeback after paying Ja Hunta's stake money back. So after I paid him I got my roll to $600 playing NL10 on stars and cashed it out to deposit on FTP for the bonus and to get some RB. I played on NL25 and NL50 and started a small shot at NL100 when I hit $3k, got my roll to about $2500 before getting kicked off of FTP because I apparently had an old account that I deposited like $20 on 2 years ago that I forgot about. FTP moved my money to the old account and closed the RB account, so I decided to just cash it out and go somewhere else.

Then I had the bright idea of bonus whoring for the last month of the summer and did some research. I decided to split my roll on UB and PlayersOnly and grind out their bonuses+rakeback and try to clear the bonuses within a month, so by the time I got back to school I would have a big roll that I could move back to stars, play like NL200 and try getting Supernova before the end of the year.

PlayersOnly went great and I got my $500 deposit up to about $1550 before cashing it out (and I forgot to get rakeback there too so I didn't get anything from that). However, I first tried cashing out like 6 weeks ago, and I had to cancel it once because they were backlogged and wanted to give me a free $230 bonus (15%) which I decided to just take and try withdrawing again. I still don't have the check, but it says that it takes them 3-5 weeks to process it so I'm not calling BS just yet. Overall, despite them taking forever to process my cashout request I really liked the site and esp the software and would definitely play there again if I didn't need the liquidity.

As for UB....I completely and utterly hate that website and their software with a passion. I deposited $1k on there, got it up to like $1400, then went on an epic lifetilt downswing to like $130 total on the site. There was a point at which I literally could not win a hand and I was playing terribly as a result of the tilting that occurred. Needless to say, things were not going according to plan, and as of about a month ago I was close to busto (or at least had no access to any kind of real BR to play with considering how my Players money was locked up) because by this time I also used the rest of my liquid roll to pay for rent and other things that I needed money for irl. What I ended up doing was just moving my UB roll to stars and grinding NL5 lol.

I was literally busto after I had to once again withdraw all of my stars roll to make more irl payments. The only stimulus I got was a $5k RTR freeroll on UB last month in which I won $90 for getting 6th or something. I moved that to stars and got it up to like the $125 I have there now by playing just a few random sessions and playing the 200k every sunday for kicks.

And then this week happened. I somehow was able to play in the RTR freeroll again on UB last sunday, and I ended up taking 2nd for $960. The next day I played a few tourneys, one of them being a $27.50 7.5k guarantee that I got 4th in for $600. Then last night I played a $44 deepstack 3k guarantee (500BB starting OMGGGGGGGG loved it =] ) and took 2nd in that for another $600. Less a -$150 session at NL50 and 2 other tourneys I busted, my BR went from $0 on UB on saturday to $1933 and change as of midnight last night XD. Also, PlayersOnly emailed me and said that my withdrawal was processed and that I can expect a check for $1780 and change within 10 business days. So basically my roll is going to go from $0 to about $3800 in like 2 weeks lol.

I'm planning on moving back to FTP to play NL50 on a deeeeep roll while also maybe taking some shots at NL100 again on like $3k of that roll, since FTP decided to give me their own kind of rakeback deal that everyone got in the emails. I'm going to cashout like $800 to pay for rent and some other things that I need this month and the rest is going to go to grinding FTP + rakeback. Since I have a real job in Food Services at school I don't really NEED to make money by playing, so I might just spend the month datamining FTP games for my expected playtimes and trying to keep pwning UB MTTs and such in the meantime trying to get a big score (I still have $790 of pending bonus money there, too). Either way it feels reall nice to have a BR again and I can't to get back to full-time grinding!

GL all,
-Joe

PlayersOnly--->Cake
  JoeDeertay, Sep 09 2008

I'm trying to move $1780.98 to Cake from PlayersOnly because I don't really want to wait for the cashout to process if I don't have to. If anyone can help me out with a transfer that'd be great. Thanks.

May...long overdue update
  JoeDeertay, Jun 01 2008

So it's been a while since my last update, but big things have been poppin' (so to speak) in the last few months.

I had a fantastic run at 10NL in April and May, winning about 45BI and getting my roll up to $600 before shipping it over to FTP for the bonus and rakeback. I just started 25NL on FTP on the 27th after the check got here but I've already managed to book 10BI. SHIP!!!

Here are some of the pretty graphs for all of May (I had the stars and FTP stats split up on different databases because my first one was getting kinda big, so the graphs come in pairs):

stars 10NL PT:

FTP 25NL PT:

stars graph:

stars game analysis graph:

FTP graph:

So as you can see, I've been running pretty well lately along with (I believe) playing well. I spent A LOT of my downtime while waiting for my stars check to clear going over all of my stars PT stats for April and May to see if I could find and fix any leaks before starting to play on FTP, and I found some areas that needed attention and did what I could to take care of them.

Also, last night I managed to book my biggest cash win ever! One of the biggest hands of the night came when I was HU 300BB deep against an overaggro loose semi-fish:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/456908

There was a lot going on that hand since we had been playing together for so long, so that is why I just flatted the flop. I thought he had a boat on the river and was surprised he folded...he later told me he had QQ =P. Anyway, here is how I ended up last night:

Hopefully I can keep running good and makin' that $$$!!! Sick life. XD

GL, all!

Crack the Nuts
  JoeDeertay, Apr 03 2008

Live poker is so awesome. So much fun and so profitable when the 10NL internet fish are playing 1/2 (lol...oops =P). Unfortunately, the 1/2 300max is the biggest game around campus, and all the non-regs and cheap donks buy in for 50BB or less, so all the real money is split between the regs. So I do what I can to try and recruit some new fish when I can...and lucky for me, I found a group of some real softies about a month ago who think they have a clue at a weekly tourney a play in (but apparently none of them even know what fold equity is). And they have some deep pockets.

One of these ATMs was at the game this week, and of course he got to a great start by stacking AKhh with QTo OOP with the flopped nuts vs TPTK+NFD after calling a RR for 1/5 of AKs stack. So he had a pretty nice $600 stack from the get-go, and after I had doubled up with the nut flush one hand I could smell blood.

Then he raises to 8 in EP and I look down at AA when it gets to me. 25 to go, effective stacks about 580, I cover. He flats and we see a flop of 894 rainbow, and he checks it to me. I put 45 into the 53 pot, and after about 10 seconds he says, "100 more." Now, he loves the check/raise-check-bet bluff line, and I know he will CR me here with a lot of hands, but I'm trying to think of the best way to get value out of him here and if there is any value in 3betting. So I do a little thinking as I look at him, and then he starts shuffling his cards and then rubbing his neck, 2 big signs of his that tell me I can be 100% sure I have the best hand and that he probably has a hand from TT-JJ, and because he likes to try being a hero, he WILL call me if I push. So then I announce "all in" and go back into my tank. I'm just waiting for the call, and he is sitting there agonizing about how "this would be the worst call I've ever made" and etc, and then finally he says those 2 beautiful words, "I call." I immediately flip over my AA and even think about tipping the dealer before he stands up and reluctantly flips over T9o (LOL). Now I am extremely baffled...I knew he'd be a hero, but not with that kind of hand, and now he is drawing almost 3x better than he would if he had just an OP. I know that some of you may think that this is nothing, but this was by far the biggest pot of my life up to this point at 1164 or whatever it was, and for a 6BI pot I didn't think I'd be sweating so much as a 3-1 favorite.

Then the cards come out. Turn 7. I know it's coming now. River 6. "Are you serious...are you fucking serious" is what everyone else is telling this kid as he puts his hands over his face in embarrasment and sits back down...I just ask him how much more it is, I give him the other 400+, and ask to be dealt out while I go to McDs. Then I go to get some food and cool off.

On the way back up to the apartment from McDs, I'm feeling a little happier now because I can't wait to eat my double cheeseburgers. Then when I get into the elevator up to the room, I notice a sticker above the door as the car begins to stop. It's a sticker for the student book store. And across the bottom, in big bold Penn State blue letters, are the words "Crack The Nuts." Obv I go on immediate lifetilt as I leave the elevator and go back to the room. Bad beat #2.

The best part about this whole situation (and probably the funniest) is that at about 6am that night I got a text message from the kid. Here is the transcript:

From: Scott Poker
"Im really sorry that the worst call in history got there. considering the situation, you took it extremely well. I don't know if this txt was a good idea but/If and it does not look likely but if i build a bankroll then i will give you 500 back. I really am sorry."

So this just managed to tilt me even more, because I know he isn't going to build a bankroll (after seeing that 1200 stack just go down to 500 or so before I left) so I won't ever see that $500, and it just felt like he was putting salt on the wound, but I give him credit for the offer and his intentions were obv good. All I know is that I hope he runs like god some more so I can get my money back XD. Sick life.
