First HU ever
  LemOn[5thF], Jul 10 2009

Yeah, I never played HU, but as I recently found out its the tables with 1-2 players that are the most profitable as nitty regs only join 5+ ppl tables.I watched a HU series at Pokerstrategy and armed with my new knowledge I went on cruising NL50 HU tables.

And although I am a total HU fish and have never played it before REGS WILL NOT PLAY ME 7times they just sat out, 3 times after just few hands where I played well, wtf is with this bum hunting at stars? One reg was even berating someone to rebuy before and he sits out after 10 hands wtf.
Well, I either want to play the best out there who are not bumhunting to learn (Primary HU objective for SH table benefit), or just play fish to get some slack ;o

Anyway, I sat with one $49 stack bronze star fish and it was much harder than I expected.
He seemed to be on par with me, playing 65/50/1/40WTSD Without 3bets playing kinda passive with only mild bluffs.

An easy prey for anyone of you HU players, but I had some troubles beating him.

I played about 57/50 with 20% 3bet, 3.70 AF and 67 AFq 40WTSD

Are these somewhat normal stats, or should I make it more open, calling down some more pre?

I must admit that I was really lucky in this match and after some of my (very logical imo)3Barrels didn't work I had to wait for a huge heater to finish him

HU is just fun for me and I will play a game here and there. Its not for me full time really because of the variance and my Tilt issues, but it is a great fun, great for hand reading and awesome for killing out boredom.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NL50 So far:

Run Good+ EZ mode when I mostly 3-6 table depending on how non-standard villains are sitting with me.
I still make some massive retarded spews here and there though, I have to fix that before I can even think of planning to move up, no matter what my BR will be.

I also am love with Supernova and even with my tiny tiny tiny volumes compared to past (I averaged about 107k hands/month last 3 months) the FPP are building up nicely

P.S. If someone still wants some free money by playing me at NL50 HU,in exchange for reviewing the session afterwards on teamspeak/teamviewer feel free to PM me.

BAN!
  LemOn[5thF], Jul 09 2009

That's right I ban myself from NL25 and lower.

I am just taking a piss, not taking the game seriously and disrespecting the money I got at my tables, so I always end up playing like a lagtard or mass tabling.

All because I was scared or sth of destroying my NL50 progress some bloody week ago

BR:1500
Move down: 1000

Also, I found it extremely profitable to start tables HU, if anyone can point me to a good HU resource, or wants easy money by playing me HU NL50 (But reviewing the session afterwards on teasmpeak/teamviewer), let me know

P.S. This is how I roll when 3 tabling

Session Review
  LemOn[5thF], Jul 06 2009

Today's session was a lot different. I ran into stationy/passive tables and I couldn't win through my red line anymore (although it was at 0 thanks to successfully 4bet bluffing regs twice)

Hand1: Shorties

43/5/1 30% bet turn fold to f cbet 64. 120 hands
These homies tilt me so much. Guess the best play if I cbet is to shove the turn myself here ?
+ Show Spoiler +

Hand2:
TBH I am kinda lost here. Standard swoop of the dead money pre, but what to do on a flop like this after a donkbet made by a donk? (unknown)
+ Show Spoiler +

hand3:
Original raiser was 8/8 over 80 hands, aggressive villain squeezing. 4Bet bigger/even shove?
+ Show Spoiler +

Obvious Spews:
A) Can't explain why, maybe I thought he was raising a lot,but his stats were 16/14/2 /216 hands - a very dumb spot for a 3bet.

+ Show Spoiler +

As I went to the hand I expected him to have a pair a ton here as he peels a lot of flops, hence the cbet and double barrel.
But he didn't have under pair at all lol

B)
42/2/21.
I came to the river with the intention of bet/folding. I simply can't get myself rid of these spews :/

YEAH BABY
  LemOn[5thF], Jul 04 2009

Around 50 days at NL25, 15 days at NL10, 1 month at NL5 and 1 month at NL2.

My grinding days are officially over-there is nothing to grind for until January 2010, and my full time job starts in 1 month.

Poker will all about fun and improvement, without the immediate pressure on results or hourly rate. Sweet.

Today
  LemOn[5thF], Jul 03 2009

I 4-6 tabled NL50, 14-19 tabled NL25 (1k VPP Till Supernova, then its full time NL50)

Some NL50 hands (All done with 20BI BR btw)

A very good reg with huge stack
+ Show Spoiler +

Here I could pot flop and bet more turn, lost a couple bucks there.
+ Show Spoiler +

His stats were tight (11/10), but my gut told me he might have been trying to pick the dead money a decent amount of time+ the turn bet was way too weak.

NL50 So far: (the drop is from a very standard AK vs AA against a Maniac PF All-in)in

Something tells me that red line will be my major source if income at this limit. I have been applying 4bet bluffs, double barrels, range balancing c/r bluffs and donk bets at NL25 for a long time now, with only breakeven results from the bluffs and benefit of metagame, But at NL50 it seems to be finally tipping into positive figures.

June
  LemOn[5thF], Jul 01 2009

First 10 days at old flat were about 10bb/100 over 10k hands which I all withdrew though, and after than purged my database.

Ended month at $900 instead of $1600 due to the withdrawals.

With the first 10 days that would be about 3.5bb/100, better than 0.5bb/100 that I managed last month -.-

Today +$130, tried NL50 for some, and there doesn't seem to be a big difference apart from people folding more which kinda suits me (The regs didn't figure out how much of a monkey am I yet, it might change just like it did with regs at NL25)

Lowering Volume
  LemOn[5thF], Jun 30 2009

Last month I played over 100k hands.
I think it was too much.

Its like an addiction, and I can't keep myself from 9+ tabling. The obvious symptoms are inevitable.

I read an article about Human Psychology and the ability of the Brain to multi-task, and I am observing some symptoms of overflow - lowered enjoyment, less focus even outside poker and increased stress levels, and its even affecting my social life.

And why do I multitable?

-Well I don't know really, perhaps I am used to it from the Starcraft days where I always tried to do as many relevant actions as possible.

-Perhaps is it my fear of losing and despair which inevitably occurs with a bad beat that is not offset on other tables and just one pot can ruin my session on 4 tables.

-Another reason may be the Pokerstars VIP level - Since May I had some hardcore milestones to pass and they were pushing my multi-tabling habits.

Yet I play much better when 4 tabling, and my learning curve increases, I hardly tilt and am much likely to cut my session when I am losing.

What to do?

As my Job starts in less than one month, I MUST get used to play super effective sessions where I improve rapidly.

The money will not be a motivation any more, my wage is going to be around $1.8k per month while my living expenses are around $1k.

Fun will be my main concern and the better people I play, the more correct marginal plays, bluffs and reads I make, the more fun and satisfaction I get from poker.

How?

I can't stop 9 -12 tabling before one last VPP milestone is reached - Supernova.

It is so close I don't think I could force myself to 4table. I won't. I will give myself few last days of grinding, and I will try to stay at least break even at 9-12 tables to own those last 3k VPP and get the red stars.

After that I will read psychology articles at Pokerstrategy, which I neglected completely so far, and after that I will try to get myself rid of the multi-tabling addiction, and try to faster achieve my ultimate goal in poker:

Play high stakes, the pinnacle of fun in poker.

Funny Tilt Session
  LemOn[5thF], Jun 29 2009

You know those days - you didn't get enough sleep, your head hurts, your neck is blocked and you feel terrible.

This was one of these days, when I should not play poker, or at least limits above NL2, as anything can get to me.

This time it was about 12BI I lost to shorties.

And then came something that always lurks in the shadows- denial -.-

Well, no harm no foul. 1BI down which is great considering my present state of mind (The usual-paranoia, strong hand=ship it, doing stuff because I feel like it -.-)

And tell you what, it was fun, and the 1BI loss was offset by FPP exactly in its value. Ship the VPP, and next time I will start my brain before I start my sessions. Maybe.

Now its time to watch LESBIAN VAMPIRE KILLERS
:

Since I moved flats: (NL10+NL25 -I had higher win rate at NL25, NL10 really really hates me. I also played NL2 for 500 hands and ran really hot 80BB/100 there ;o)

The flat period where my red line starts to go up was my experimenting with Monkey Style which was very helpful for me. Had I not done that I would easily reach the 3-4bb/100, but it was great for my learning and it changed the way I play a lot. I now try to have the red line at least at 0 (the downward sloping curve at the beginning was my standard to date)

I really regret I had to do the withdrawals, as I would have been at $1700 now instead of $900 and have comfy roll for NL50 shots :/
