Tiltlessness
  LemOn[5thF], Dec 11 2009

That is the name of the last episode of The Eightfold path to poker enlightenment.
I am about to watch it and I am so excited that I have to bore you with a blog post about it.
http://www.deucescracked.com/videos/1062-Episode-Eight

Recommended by my coach, this is the best series or anything else really that I saw in regards to poker. It had an impact not just on my poker play, but also partially on my real life.

I will now demonstrate the impact the 7 episodes I saw had on me with my with the help of my December EV graph so far.
+ Show Spoiler +

BOOOOM. Bathe in Sklansky bucks.
Anything like this would tilt me just a month ago. Badly. Very badly.

After watching the series and thinking very deep about what has been said and trying to apply some of the advice several times per day at poker tables and at work, I feel nothing else than pure joy from playing poker.

No bad emotion, nothing close to my C game, no sense of injustice, nothing.
I just find myself taking a deep breath after hands like this one,+ Show Spoiler +

and forgetting about it 15seconds later (after posting the hand with a comment like 'BOOM' 'POW' for entertainment purposes).

On the other hand when this hand happens+ Show Spoiler +

I feel hysterical joy, jump around the room and go bore my gf with a 10 minute story about it.

Also, when I felt tired I didn't play 3days in a row, while reading the forums and reading about poker. 3DAYS IN A ROW, not a single hand, even though I had a lot of time for poker and wasn't doing anything else!

I have also been practising advice from The Right Speech episode, and edited countless posts here on LP and didn't post with negative tone in so many good 'spots'.
I still need a lot of work on this though - I posted a 3week old graph where I was hypertilting when I had flu with the intention of not be let down by the obvious berating posts and not replying once.

I still had a huge urge to 'defend myself' and some responses hit my ego, but I didn't respond apart from one joke post that I immediately deleted (it was defensive humour obv).

As you probably will know now, I have huge expectations of the final episode (which is about 70% longer than the others).
Afterwards I will just dl the series to my iPod and listen to it once again, and then every year or whenever I start feeling negative emotions in connection to poker.
If you guys don't have DC subscription, this should be the only reason to get it (and you can always go for the free trial and dl the whole series btw).

I will now sit down straight, take 10 concious breaths, eat the light dinner my gf prepared for me, and let my mind submerge in the grand Finale called Tiltlessness.

EDIT: Halfway through, I have to take a break and have a shower. The stuff in this ep is too deep to watch it in one session.

Epic few days
  LemOn[5thF], Dec 05 2009

I didn't feel this good about my poker perspectives in a very long time.
The first 5k hands are multitabled at NL50 and NL25 10-15 tables, last 2.8k hands is 5 hours of grinding 6 tables today.

For the first time ever, I didn't get tilted. At all. Or at least not for more than 2 minutes.

The reason is an awesome series at DC by Tommy Angelo that my Coach recommended and partially also newly discovered stacking of tables for the multitabling part.

I just sat down, grinded through the ridiculous period where I lost all all ins, looked at my hand histories and felt nothing but positive emotions when it was me who sucked out or had AA v KK.
And I looked at my br ONCE in last 3 days and now after the sessions.
And sure enough - without stopping the deck gradually started compensating, I just focused on playing well and finished breakeven.

Needless to say, I see this break even period as the most successful since I started playing poker and I can see the light at the end of the spewy tunnel now.

You might say that this was just a small bump on the road and I have to prove myself when I start running really bad over longer period, but this is just the hope I needed (+I am just halfway through Eightfold path to poker enlightenment and had just one coaching session).

Thanks for reading,.

Joeingram wannabe
  LemOn[5thF], Dec 03 2009

So I tried stacking tables for the first time and masstabling like my hero JoeIngram does.
I must say that its a completely different experience than when having all tables tiled.

Every hand is played in isolation, and you almost never see results.
Its hard to tilt when you don't know that you got sucked out I must tell you, and playing stacked tables seems much easier than having them tiled as you have only one focus point and you don't have to search for hands on the screen (I am always under threat of hypertilt when I play 12 tables tiled and I see all of them)

Still, I need some practice doing this, and I will do 1-2 practice sessions per month on 10-15 tables to see if I am capable of playing well at NL50-NL100 like this.

There is absolutely no need whatsoever to multitable while I have a fulltime job as my goal is a mere $700/month including rakeback for next 9 months and skill>>>profits, but when I turn student again and will play 8+ hour sessions it will be nice to have the opportunity to grind it out when I am tired of 4-6 tabling and when reaching milestones.

I just can't believe this, wtf.
I got this game about 5 years ago for free with my PC magazine in Czech Republic that sold for $8 back in the day.
I never finished it because there was a bug probably that didn't allow me to solve one riddle. Now I am like wtf I have nothing to play and the new games largely suck, so I go online to buy it.
I had to pay $35 incl. postage, its a 'rare game' now.

Well I got it now and I have goose bumps from just watching the Intro.
I love the depressing story, morbid world, shit ton of talking, RPG stats, items, the fact that you can change your body parts and the funny dialogues between the main characters.

Lets dig deep to the times where graphics meant squat, and precise 2D animation, and most of all really awesome complex story with continuous character development were decisive for a success of a game.

November
  LemOn[5thF], Nov 30 2009

I spewed about 20 BI for no reason this month again.
No, this is not because I play too loose, and no, this is not because of FPS.

This is because I, much like Neilly and others, have a gambler switch in me and I still make plays that I would never ever ever ever do conciously when I am tired/tilted.
This month most of the spews account to me playing while having a flu (while I clearly agreed with myself that playing would be a very bad Idea), my body energy was at a total low and I went on multitabling again. Sigh.

/End negative.

+When I don't tilt I and I play 4-6 tables own/crush/destroy anything less than NL100 (which I didn't play yet. Super strict table selection is the cause of this from the most part.

+Worked on my HU as I start my own tables
I saw about 14 episodes of NL Grinder and 2 of NL Grinder Pro, 2 HU vids, one vd review with him nd Krantz and some theory vids.I plan on watching mathematics of holdem also from Wilt this month.

+Got some coaching pre-agreed, and I plan on taking shots at NL100 with the help of NL200 -NL400 regs during coaching sessions.

+My BR got a surreal boost
I started the month borderline busto with $400 at NL10

+880 Cash
+1400 Donkament
+800 RB
=400-> 3500 BR

Bottom Line: Best month ever so far in regards to
-My skill improvement
-Total $ wise results

Best month since I started working in regards to:
-Cash game Winnings
-Tilt control (Believe it or not, but the roughly 20BI I tilted out for no reason is THE LEAST I tilted during a month since I started working.
6bb/100 NL50 pre-job winner being stuck at NL10-NL25 = thats a lot of buy ins burned trust me -.-)

December Goals
-Reach 4k
-Dont tilt
-Get the coaching going

Weekend Baby
  LemOn[5thF], Nov 27 2009

1) Freerolls.

After Scoring $1400 in the 100fpp (Insane field of like 8k people lolz), it would be nice to hit something again.
I need to make 1.8k FPP tomorrow and on sunday morning to buy the Turbo Takedown ticket too.

If I manage that its 4 freerols during the weekend - a ton of donkamenting for a cash game only player.

2) Cash games
I put in 500 hands today only during 2 hours, and I am glad as I started to become bored.
I have decided to take shots at NL100 once I hit $4,000, or during my coaching sessions.I will just play the most juicy tables tomorrow (well its weekend, all are juicy) and try to boost my BR before December as much as possible.

Also, I will try avoid posting and looking at graphs as much as possible as it just tilts me (If I run good it makes me over confident, If it looks bad I get frustrated)

3) Coaching
I got some longer term coaching on the plate from a LP member.
I need to go buy USB Headset tomorrow as my normal audio connectors are funked, I will install skype and som IM software and hopefully I will get some coaching going that will make me focus more and spew less (you know, Its good to have to explain to someone why I spewed 20 BI in a session etc. etc.)

4) In case you missed it, check out this comic is so funny and there are so many strips.

http://plusev.keenspot.com/d/20060811.html

I go watch some movies on Chinese streamed site, get some pizza and be ready for tomorrow's grind.
Gl ya all and I wish the Fish don't suck out on you in next 2 days.

WEEE
  LemOn[5thF], Nov 25 2009

Started month with $400 in my account.

So what I won $1400 was a donkament and some rakeback, Its still fucking awesome feeling :D

I will hope fully get some longer term coaching soon - I seriously need someone who will tell me how retarded am I when I make my numerous spews, and I plan on taking shots at 100NL while staying at NL50 as a reg.

I don't think I would make my goal of 10K br, 3bb/100 NL100 reg with shots at NL200 in 10 months without some sort of external push, as I forced myself into rebuilding my roll for no reason so many times already. Hopefully this was the last time around, wish me luck people.

semi quit?
  LemOn[5thF], Nov 21 2009

I know many of you like gororok suggested i quit poker. well, maybe you are right.

there is still nothing changed wih my plan of funding my studies through poker from next september, but still find it really hard not to spew when i am tired from work or because of other reasons.

This wold mean that I would play just weekends and a couple days during the week, some 20 k hands per month or so. it would suck as i wouldn't be puting the required hours in, but ot the other hand my thought process and knowledge are well above the required to be a winning nl50, even nl100 reg, its just the endless spews that started since i begun working full time that drag me down.

my goal is to be a nl200 reg by september next year and to do that i need to go from 2.4k plus 800 shipped soon to 10k,
this would be easily achieveable even with ridiculously low amount of 200k hands during the period(i played some 160 k hands in one month during my supernova quest)

id just play when i am not tired at all, some 12 hours per week and just play donkaments or watch vids when i am not at least at 90% of my energy.

id just pull huge sessions during holidays, otherwise its just strictly 4 tables.

tell me what you guys think, remember my oly goal is 10k roll in 10 months. I am starting to save some part of my salary and my parents wil hopefully help out a lil, so being a wining nl100 reg with 100bi taking shots at nl200 should help me to grind through my last year of uni when i come back from my placement.
I just have to set out the best strategy to get there.

P.S. I am loking for some longer term cooperation, if some of you NL100+ 6max regs would like to have a shot at coaching or frequent sweat sessions both ways, please pm me, and i just might buy a headset finally.

I think i could provide a lot of input, but i also need someone to tel me how retarded am i when i throw out my stack for no reason.
