Thin Shot
  LemOn[5thF], Mar 18 2010

Yeah baby, today I will be making a thin, 70BI shot at NL100.
Last time I was there I ran at 9BB/100 over 9k hands.
Wish me luck!

P.S. if anyone wants to sweat me taking my degen shot in a couple of hours give me a holler on Skype (lp-lemon)

Thats it
  LemOn[5thF], Mar 16 2010

30K ands NL50 Challenge finished.

I played a few days without a tracker so the number will come to roughly 30K.

What Was it
Jan sale at Stars made me masstable. And lose money, where I played like 5% A game.

I decided that I will just fuck it all, rebuild from NL25 and play 30k hands at NL25 and NL50 before doing some other business.

I needed to prove to myself that I have the self control to play a steady 4 tabling poker with my A game at least 50% of the time.
And that I simply can win.

Results
As this challenge was not about money at all, but about my discipline, I will break down the results to categories

Number of tables
Score: 9/10

Yeah baby, I was in the zone!
I 4 tabled about 85% of the time, 12% 6tabled and only 3% 7+ tabled 2 days ago.

Tilt Control
Score:8/10

I played my A game some 70% of the time. A massive increase when compared to the past.
I played my still winning B game for some 22.5-25%
My C game accounted for only some 5-7.5%, and it of course cost me some 8 buy ins in total, including 2 today.

What are the rough categories?

A game:
Realise and take note of 90%+ pots that happen on all tables
Only make decisions for a reason with considering all alternatives at all times
Ideal table and seat selection - playing only the best tables.
Never spew

B Game
- Realise and note big pots that went to sd
- Make solid standard decisions
- Leave -ev tables
- Never spew

C game
- Note nothing
- Raise 30%+ hands regardless of oposition
- make spontaneus decisions that oppose my own mind and thinking processes
- Just spew away stacks for no reason, open more tables, quit way too late.

I largely avoided my C game by:

- 1 hour fixed period before coming from work and starting tables
- Taking mandatory brakes at the latest after 80 minutes
- Attempt to avoid playing when I am tired/have eaten too much/am too sleepy.

Whenever I breached the rules my C game occured in about 50% of cases. Sick.

Betting Patterns
8/10
This is what you interned kids call playing poker.

I thik I beat NL50 now.
What helped me a lot was playing 500 bb deep with one of the biggest fish I have ever seen.
The answer is simple: Call more, Limp more and generally see more flops.
There are only handful of people that play like me that widen their 3 betting range when a fish limps and reg isolates, or that isolate with large frequency. I found it more profitable to limp a lot of suited connectors or mediocre value hands behind fishy players, as my postflop edge is just massive and by raising preflop with weak hands I was just allowing them to play good preflop.
This will not apply for NL400+, where regs start to be very much aware of different rangesand will raise a huge amount of hands when you limp beind a fish or isolate small amounts with very wide ranges, but that just doesn't happen here.

I was also experimenting with overbetting with good sucess, and playing OOP with emphasis on donk betting, and thats an area I have to focus on.
I also have to study advanced math concepts, I just suck in that area.

And obviously I made hundreds of mistakes, but I go by the philosophy that its much better to play loose, try new things and learn by trial and error than by being a nit that never really evolves or adjusts.

Highstakes is my longterm goal, not grinding midstakes 40 hours per week.

Results
10/10

I ran extremely hot. Not in All in EV, not so much in setups, but very much in timing of my runs. When I played my B and C game, I almost always had periods of +EV, and the biggest serial suckouts and bad beats came when I was playing my A game.

When I am focused, cards have 0% impact on my game. There were sessions where I lost 8 flips in a row, but It didn't get to me at all. But when I am tired/tilted from work or whatever, I don't even have to get a bad beat and I start spewing. And I ran hot when that happened, reducing my tilt category a ton, and being a great help.

Graphs:
I stopped multitabling on February 5th, Purged my database and started the challenge.
Here is all hands/stats since then minus a couple K when I played without HEM on because of technical problems.

Whats next
- Get into NL50 HU here and there, move up after I make some 10-20 BI. If you want free money by playing me at those stakes pelas esend me a pm.
- 20K hands NL100 6max, shots at soft NL200 tables if my winrate will be above 2BB/100 at NL100
- Mass table NL50 in last few days of the month to keep my SN (I just love Stars too much not to at least try to keep it)

Skype
Sorry for being out of touch with you guys. There wasn't much to talk about when I was playing NL50 and just battling my own tilt and masstabling demons.

This will now change as I move up /move to HU and we should have stuff to discuss

If anyone wants to discuss hands or get some Sweat sessions going add lp-lemOn

5k Hands weekend!
  LemOn[5thF], Mar 14 2010

Yeah baby, I am going insane, but I did it , and I exceeded my target of 4,000 hands!

Well, to be honest I was also 6 tabling and also 7 tabling stacked tables for an hour while watching a movie
(Incidentally, thats where I tilted off more stacks than during the whole month combined lol).
Still, 5K hands Fri-Sunday is just huge!

Now only 3267 hands remaining until I finish my 30k hands challenge!
Tbh I want it to be over. I am trying so hard to get there and prove that I can be a steady winning player at NL50 over a decent sample that I don't play like I usually do.

Since I started, I was playing my A game like 75% of the time, which is a lot more than my usuall 10-20%.
I am tired? Boom, I quit.
A reg to my left is just too aggro and the table is -ev because of him? Boom, I leave the table, my ego bruised.
No Fish? Boom, I leave. I feel like a circus clown juggling tables all over the place.
Just came from work? Hungry? Too full? Sleepy? Boom. I don't play. (Well, most of the time, the 25% is still there, but only like 5% overall was my true C game :o))
All this just to prove to myself that when shit hits the fan, I can always go to NL50 and make money if I want to.

I will hopefully Finish by COB Friday and post graphs/progress/conclusion etc. - some 650 hands per day will be more than usual, but its doable.

The Grand
This must be the shittiest movie ever made, but I LOVE IT!
AJ really does look like a creepy old man on HSP and here he plays the part :D

You can watch the movie Here

2k Hands done! (Sick Weekend target- See below)
  LemOn[5thF], Mar 13 2010

2,000 hands in 7.23 hours just today from my sick 4,000 hands per weekend challenge!
Only 1650 hands remaining for tomorrow...sweet!
+ Show Spoiler +

I am very happy with volume, I haven't played 2K hands per day since my 30k hands 4tabling challenge begun on February 5th.
Only some 6k hands to go now!

After that I will re-evaluate if I should move up or not, and I will either move up to NL100 or 6-9 table at NL50 to keep my SN.

Sick target for weekend
  LemOn[5thF], Mar 12 2010

I want to play 4,000 hands this weekend.
Am I crazy? Will I go mad in the process?

Well, I started off nicely today, amassing 350 hands during one hour, but there was a decent amount of HU and 3 handed action included. 3,650 hands remaining, which is roughly 12 hours during 2 days, tomorrow's freeroll not included. If I do it, only 3,500 further hands will remain until I finish my mad challenge of playing 30,000 (THIRTY THOUSAND) hands in 45 days.

I will blog about my epic struggle and update this post. I am also thinking about moving in Chiren80's footsteps, and hopefully this sick hand marathon will help me get a PS pro status!

If I finish this, who knows what I will do next? 35,000? even 50,000 hands per month? Setting up a webcam channel and showing off my Asian GF for no reason? Only sky is the limit.

Nice Rakeback
  LemOn[5thF], Mar 09 2010

Wee...Today my team's manager said that he wants to see me alone and...I am getting £300/$450 extra out of the blue for my 5 months of hard work in 2009 :D

Its crap money you might say, but you must realise that I am on a student placement with 11 month fixed contract with no prior experience in my first non-menial job. The group our company is under (Lloyds Banking Group) made a combined loss of $9,000,000,000 last year, and there is nothing about bonuses in my contract at all.

Ship it, I don't even have to unlock it :o

Boring Life stuff
I am really glad that I decided to go for the placement. I have only 3.5 months left and I have to start writing reports to University, but thats irrelevant. What is really useful is the day to day stuff, time management, talking to people and a professional attitude that I pick up.
I will try to get a 1:1 (70%+ in all subjects combined) degree next year when I do my Honours project.

And my parents and GF wouldn't be glad to hear it, but I am doing this to have a real shot at Poker.
How will good degree and 1 work experience with good references help me in Poker?
Well its simple. I basically want to choose something I can do long term, and in poker that means to have the goal of being a high stakes/nosebleed player.
But from what I have seen its so damn hard when you are at NL100-NL400 to not be entangled with the burden of day to day expenses and the fact that Poker is your only solid option in life.

I want to think deep, play many variants, have proper swings and deal with them and never stop learning. But for that you can't keep it safe and grind your SNE and live off of rakeback, you have to take chances, take the hard way of thinking poker on few tables and take shots.
And thats something I couldn't do if I knew that if I am breakeven for longer time or busto...I am fucked.

Call it options in life, call it a safety net, but when I finish with the uni 1.3 years from now, I am sure that it will help me to go berserk and give Poker my best.

Brag+ Stars!?
  LemOn[5thF], Mar 08 2010

18BI below EV and still crushing @4BB/100 :o

I am two thirds through my stability test where I have to play 30,000 hands 75%+ 4 tabling and rest 6 tabling at NL50 and make a steady profit. I am doing this to test my discipline before moving up/playing some HU, and to simply prove to myself that I can win steadily over a semi-decent sample which never happened since I started my job at the end of July 09.

As a byeffect I might lose my SN and move to Some noname euro site with 50%+ rb which would mean:

- Lose my Pokerstartegy access (They do have good math articles)
- Lose Tableninja
- Lose the perfect software
- Lose my Cool Avatar and 5 Stars
- Lose the personal feel it has with other people's avatars
- No VIP store, no fame from playing on known site
- Fewer promos, no fun freerolls

+ more rb money, when I need them in hard cash
+ Less addictive VPP shit, no pressure to play when I don't want to
+ More fish, less gay shorties on higher stakes

I am still undecided if I want to stay or not (I'd probably would have to 6 table more and multitable again at the end of the month, and during the following 3 months before my Job ends), especially with the prospects of September onwards where I will rely on poker for some 65% of my expenses.
I will not come back until I can make SN in less than 2 months if I lose it.

Lose all this? -.-
SN leaving Stars, Madness or sound decision?

PC advice
  LemOn[5thF], Mar 03 2010

Hey guys here I go again....

I want to invest some £200-£300 ($300-$450) for a PC, just a base unit. I want it with Windows 7, and shipped to UK. Used or new.

I want SC2 to run on that thing if possible if I decide to try it out one day, and apart from that standard nerd multitasking (HEM/10 Chrome tabs/ HD film/2 Poker Clients open antivirus in background, all at the same time.

Can somebody tell me what to look for and where to get it?

This is an example of what I could get for £250 on ebay:
Chip Type: intel pentium processor E5400 Processor Speed: 2,800 MHz
Memory (RAM): 4096.0 Hard Drive Capacity: 320 GB
Brand: Medion Primary Drive: Daul Layer DVD / CD ReWriter
Features: Graphics Card, Keyboard, Mouse, Operating System, USB Condition: New

Epic February
  LemOn[5thF], Feb 28 2010

I went into the month with only one goal: To play only 4 tables.

Well, here is the graph:

Epic success!

I played my C game for about 4-5 hours this month in total - thats really really low compared to January.
It still did cost me a bunch of BIs this month.

Low tabling has also huge impacts on my off the table mood, as my brain doesn't get overloaded with the losing spots when I am tilting + running bad with more and more hands. Even when I lost 4 buy ins in an hour all because of pure tilt where I was feeling the usual desperation (on 4 tables), I stood up and completely forgot about it, my mood unaffected.

I used to be aggressive and grumpy, feeling worthless and had nightmares about poker when I hit a large downswing while masstabling for gods sake -.-

March
I want to get a decent sample size at NL50 to prove to myself that I can be a solid winning player there (tilt included) and then move up. I will go for 30k hand sample, should be enough.

I will keep 4 tabling, but throw in 6 tables here and there to hit the 7.5k VPP this month (Only some 4.3k VPP in Febn and 15k hands after purging my DB).

Gl in the Majors.
