The point you seem completely unable to grasp is that I am objecting to them painting themselves as the poor 99 percent as if they lived in one of those countries where 99 percent starve while the one percent fly around in private jets.

I support the right to protest and think there are some points to be made but their way is wrong

USA has wealth ginicoefficient 0,8 which makes it #5 most unequal country in the world in terms of wealth distribution, and #1 Namibia is not far ahead (being very far ahead would be impossible too, for gini 1 means that one person owns everything). So unless you are saying that their protest is silly because they are not doing as poorly in absolute terms as their african brothers I dont see what point are you making?

indeed it is laughable that some of the top 10% are complaining about their own supposed poverty, but what i find more disgusting is the people that won't join this protest to help the poorest people, only because they are afraid of looking like a liberal douche with an arts degree. You are probably buying in to the way the media could be trying to portray the protesters of OWS. There may be some dumbasses there, of course. Yet, that doesn't mean there are plenty of people with legitimate views. Lots of movements start out as decentralized and fragmented until they develop some sort of way of unifying.

It seems like everyone opposed to ows is opposed because of blatant lies and misunderstandings. I don't understand how one could fundamentally be against this movement if they actually took the time to read the declaration on the ows site, or actually went to a protest and took an OBJECTIVE view of what is going on. I have only seen ONE news article (not exaggerating) accurately describe why people are pissed. The American media (owned in every sense of the word by the 1%) has done an extraordinary job of bullshitting how this movement is nothing more than a hippy revival, a uniting movement for lazy low-class welfare workers, and a new place for the homeless to shelter.
