I've always said wisdom was one of the most underrated players (reason talentedtom and I drafted him way back in the LP tourney draft we had haha, where dickhead Myth lucksacked the first place in the SUnday!)

he was always real solid and def didn't bumhunt from what I saw (playing vs him at 3/6 and 5/10)
he was tighter pre (no idea now) but was real tough postflop, which I think is a better general style anyways and could lead to people learning more applicable things then just how to open tons of hands preflop and have no idea what to do postflop

so def not a player to bash considering he was played vs some serious players and held his own on some tough FTP games

sounds like pretty high standards. i'm definitely not a perfect poker player who has, like just about every other player, tilted off money, or played when i wasn't feeling my best, etc. however i don't think my 150k hand sample which includes a 8k downswing right at the beginning and still ended up at a reasonable rate is so terrible. i play 9 tables or less at a time of 6 max cash games, when usually the entire table is full of regs or sometimes with 1 weaker player. when you play almost exclusively against regs who play everyday, you can't always have a sick bb/100 like the good old days or at lower stakes (unless i bumhunt of course, but why would someone take lessons from a bumhunter over a guy playing vs higher skilled opponents who still wins?)

that said, even with the downswing at the beginning of my hands, an overall rate of over $100/hr is pretty decent in my opinion. that also doesn't include rakeback or any bonuses you'd get with player points. i also have gone to vegas every summer for the wsop, sometimes for long, sometimes for short, but every year after i turned 21, i have always played the cash games there and played in the main event.

if you don't think i'm a good enough player for you, then don't hire me. i've had some really positive coaching experiences as a student in the past, and know what helped me along the way, so i feel i have something to pass along to lower stakes guys. i have had fun coaching my friends in the past, and really am excited about trying to work with people i don't yet know. i'm even offering a free first lesson, and all my lesson costs are less than my hourly rate when i am playing poker myself. i've been really passionate about teaching in other aspects in my life, so i decided, why not do the same with poker?

You are right, those are pretty high standards. I think a coach should have 2 qualities. One, he or she has to crush the games, and two has to be good at actually coaching. Obviously, everyone is free to make their own choices and since you are offering a free sample lesson people can make a better choice. In my opinion though, unless that sample seriously under-represents your true winrate, you have no business coaching because at that winrate you have some pretty significant issues with your gameplay that can be passed onto the student. Therefore, as a student I would be extremely cautious of getting advice from someone like you.

As for milzo's post, I actually don't have any problems with wisdom. In fact, we've never interacted. What I see here though is just another average grinder trying to supplement his income with sham coaching. I believe coaching from this level of player would be a disservice to one being coached and as another long-time member of this community I feel I should point that out. If people feel that barely beating the stakes is enough for them to hire the person as a coach, they are free to do so. In my opinion it's not enough.

Also just to emphasize. More than barely beating the stakes is high standards? wtf halp. lurn2play. I have a bigger problem with that statement than with your results!
