I think about this all the time esp when watching basketball.. in the NBA finals game 7. Ray Allen takes a lot of good open shots, but only shot 3-14. You can tell hes a strong discplined proffesional cause he keeps INSTA shooting whenever hes open without any hesitation (unlike many people who are results oriented who will a winning strategy because of temporary varience).

i think often times the difference between a clutch and non-clutch athlete in sports is a little randomness at the right times. those situations, of course, will never come close to seeing the long run.
