I love GSP, but apologizing to his fans for having a fight where he was totally dominant go the distance is retarded imo. |

I usually like Rogan but he annoyed the shit out of me last night. " Mir has the best guard at hw. " Really? pretty sure its werdum and its not even fucking close. Even shit nog, fedor, barnett all have better guards than Mir. |

mir does have a very good guard at HW even though he is outclassed in the bjj area by nelson, nog, werdum, gonzaga, nog. werdum is much more of a top position guy, so is gonzaga. i think mir/nogs guards are more dangerous vs the majority of HW fighters even though he wouldnt tap out the best fighters, but who would lol |

I dunno about you guys but I'm really pumped to see carwin vs lesnar all of a sudden.
I've heard some people say that carwin's wrestling pedigree is on par with lesnars and that its uncertain who will dictate where the fight takes place. Anyone care to comment on that? |

Mir has never accomplished anything in the BJJ world and has been GNP tko'd almost as often as he has submitted guys from his back.
only semi impressive thing hes done from his back was when he armbarred tim sylvia. and it wasn't even a technical armbar that sylvia tapped to. it was a sloppy one that frank used raw power & his cup to break tims arm.
also traven was rocked before mir subbed him. |

Carwins wrestling pedigree isn't nearly as good as Brocks. |

true but he'll ko him standing bad unless lesnar takes him down. carwin has more speed then lesnar does in the hands department. |

and imo mir is more sub heavy then most BJJ world black belts. And he attacks that way which is more geared towards mma. now in a bjj match he'd lose to a lot of those guys, but he's also submit a ton of people those guys wouldn't. |

Maybe it will turn out to be a good fight, I haven't kept up with these guys much, but my guess is that Lesnar will destroy him. If Carwin's speed becomes a problem, Lesnar might take the option of just ripping off one of Carwin's arms. |

mant he HW division is looking really good finally, Velazquez impressed but after seeing Carwins scary wild punches i think he is a much better choice to fight against Lesnar.
Lesnar got hurt on a stand up even against Mir so i dont think there is a chance in hell that he will engage with Carwin on a stand up, he will get KOd in a second, so if Carwin is very aware of this and is prepared with a strong take down defense he will take this.
Its going to be interesting if the fight is long tho because Carwin gives me the impression he has cardio issues and Lesnar is just too fucking huge to last more than 2 rounds.
Also u have to consider that Lesnar will be back from serious serious health issues, if i were to put a line id probably say lesnar is around -130 vs carwin and no better. |

just saw the event today.. so sad to see mir lose. woulda LOVVEDDD too see lesnar and mir have a converstation in the ring afterwards. Carwin is too softspoken. GSP vs Hardy was everything I expected.. except for hardy not tapping to the armbar / kamura... i dunno if hes if hardy is double jointed and his arm can handle those extensions or hes just a retard who dosnt care about his long term career, in either case dont mind watching 5 rounds of GSP domination, it's the same kinda pleasure I get from watching Federer dominate some random nobody
also WTF to that guy who did the kneebar and didnt stop when his opponent tapped, should get some very serious fines for stuff like that. IMO they need to make examples of people who do stuff like that |

dude abotu the last part, its a sold out arena, the biggest fight of his life, cameras everywhere, nerves running at 100%, and everyone screaming creating a huge deafening roar...pretty easy to not notice a guy tapping where u cant see his hand... the ref shoulda been there to split um up faster, this guy just made a very simple mistake and he even said sorry in front of everyone. |

Palhares is suspended for 90 days after that incident. The issue is that the ref had to tug on Palhares 3 times to get him to release and there is no way that should happen. He has also held subs in previous fights for to long.
Like Tom I only saw these fights today. Carwins hands were so quick. I thought I heard something about him having a 5 round plan if it went like that and he has a solid wrestling background, I doubt cardio will be an issue. Some of the stand ups by the refs during this card were flat out retarded. A mate and I were talking about it coincidently before the fights wondering how influenced by the crowd the refs are.
GSP looked as unbeatable as ever. No one is going to beat him in that division. Sorry KOS fag lovers. |

ahah well I was at the arena and it was definitely not deafening... the crowd fucking sucked barely cheering at all even for the 3 or 4 New jersey guys that were fighting..
I agree you shouldnt really let go to the ref breaks it up though I mean see what happened with GSp vs Hardys armbar it looked like GSP thought Hardy tapped and let go for an instant and hardy was able to standup |

Carwin was the NCAA div II wrestling champ the same year that Lesnar won the NCAA Div I championship i think it was 2000, so yea his wrestling is definitely good... Im also really excited to see this fight |

the reasons gsp didnt finish the armbar are this. first dan hardy used his free arms to cross gsps legs thus gsp couldn't control hardys body which made hardy able to escape and not give gsp maximum leverage. second I think because gsp was trying to straight extend hardys arm. From what i understand youre supposed to extend it kinda on your hip/pelvis area. There is a video of them going over it in the locker room after and then showing gsp.
to be fair though i think a lot of fighters tap to that. |

As for their wrestling in MMA, because yes there is a big difference between pure wrestling and MMA wrestling.
I haven't really been impressed with either. Brock struggled with 220 pound super old body looking over year lay off randy couture. I thought he'd steam roll him. Carwin I haven't seen much of other than him getting stuffed by frank mir. Don't care if he said his game plan was to press mir against the fence. he dropped for a single and didn't get it.
Brock is certainly bigger and much more athletic. They both have combine numbers somewhere and brock crushes him in every single category. as for stand up carwin definitely has more technique and way better combination's. but in terms of just pure speed. as in who will beat who to the punch, I think brock has him beat their too. I think carwin still beats him in the stand up though due to better technique & combination's.
Think its a close match mainly because I don't think lesnar likes getting hit. Why else would he be diving for take downs against BJJ blackbelts in his 2nd fight?
I'll be rooting for carwin for sure. GO carWIN. |
