Lol? how about 5 dollar glass of tap water?
Yea yea, shut it, villagers!

Yeah I wouldn't buy that either. I say that Europe is awesome and you jump on my nuts. And I'd really like to see this $5 tap water. Certain really nice restaurants have expensive drinks and charge an arm and a leg for bottled water, but it is far from the norm. Most places in Europe don't have free refills on fountain drinks and feature shitty service from their salaried employees.

Of course it was a good shove, I won

I hate it when people come on NY and talk about how dirty the subway is, how crowded it is, blah blah. Sure there are shitty things about NY but there are a ton of great things too. If you came to NY to visit and have a good time, why not appreciate all the great things the city has to offer rather than bitch and whine about the dirty subway?

So you go to europe, which has so many beautiful places and so much to offer, and the best you can say about it is that a restaurant charges 5 bucks for a coke?

THIS!!!

wow ignorant lol....

Average person in developed europe makes much more then the average joe in USA. Thats why prices are much higher, everyone makes more money. Its all proportioned.

And i think charging 50 cents to use the washroom is a good idea, it prevents crack heads from doing drugs and other illegal activities in there, at least you know the public washrooms are clean and kept, nothing worse then using a dirty washroom you dirty american ahahaha

i really want the coke and the money but ill settle for your necklace

I went to a nice AMERICAN restaurant here is the good ol' USA last night and a bottle of san pellegrino cost 8 bucks. Sure I could of gone to costco and got it for a buck. I could of also gone to McDonalds and spent 10 bucks instead of a 150 bucks on dinner for two.

Ignorant because you disagree with me? Fuck you. I checked salaries for my job across Europe and someone with my exact experience makes 50k euros. Even at 1.48 dollars per euro, that's still way less than I make here in the US. Also, the bathrooms were not fucking clean at all. I love paying 50 cents then walking into a bathroom that smells worse than your mother. Get a clue

ok fine but the place I went to, there was no meal above 10 euros and then a coke costs 5? Doesn't matter how you spin it, that's still rape

Yes, Europe is beautiful, and I saw a good percentage of it. But seriously, once you've seen some of it, you've seen all of it. Green mountains and pastures the first time? wow, beautiful. Not so much after 50 fucking times though.

You make 75k a year and you're bitching about paying 5 bucks for a coke?? But it does not really matter.. Don't like Europe -- don't go.. What's the urge to indiscriminately insult strangers?

I make quite a bit more than 75k and yes I don't like getting raped

edit: and I won't be going back to Europe for a long time despite the fact that I was born there and whatnot.

OK agreed, the ratio is a bit excessive. Good thing u didn't go to london or you might've killed someone. What you have to understand is that business conditions vary greatly in different countries. Generally speaking, if a place is charging exorbitant prices, then they will not stay in business too long. The reason for prices being what they are is mostly a function of what their costs are. Take an example of the movie theater business, overall profit margins are average at best. Now, of course you will get raped for the popcorn/soda/candy, but the alternative would be to pay a higher price for the ticket. They made a choice to shift the higher prices to the concessions. Same thing is probably happening there, but the thing is that you don't have to buy the concessions in the theater and you don't have to buy the overpriced drinks at a restaurant. But at the end of the day, they need to make the profits somewhere and if it isn't in the concessions/drinks, then they will have to raise prices on the core product. Bottom line is a business needs to make profits or else they will shut down, and if they make too much profits, then competition will take over. I'm no expert on european labor laws, but I'd bet that wages for restaurant employees are much higher as well as payroll taxes/benefits. And consumers can afford to pay higher prices for goods and services when you don't have to plunk down a hefty sum for medical insurance premiums.
