I think they are just parodying documentaries in general. Drug rehab ones especially seem to take this format with useful facts popping up throughout. It could be a parody of a specific show/documentary but I'm not sure which, although it did seem familiar. I agree it was pretty lame, got a few chuckles out of me but that's it.
