Friday night. Friday night lights. Listening to Balam Acab. ACAB. Let's go!

I remember the days when Friday night lights meant something. It meant me, captain of the lacrosse team leading the way trotting out to More Human Than Human by White Zombie with the moaning at the beginning under the Lights. That is a check mark for this blog about romanticizing the past.

{Lasagna Recipe}

I've been quiet but I predict hiems will eventually try and go after me. At this juncture I am an easier target than Loco and that is just a fact. I don't even have enough money to fill up the gas tank so I can go out tonight so I am stuck here eating my nephew's left overs:

2 chicken tendies
about a cup or 2 of mac n cheese
3 sugar cookies with coffee

It cost me $0 + whatever the fraction of a coffee bag is.

hiems, making fun of me for roping or seppuku I don't think it goes down like that in my current state. I've only thought about it deadly seriously once and I had 60 units of alcohol in me. I'm not violent enough. It would probably involve Ativan but once I take the Ativan I would feel better unless I overdose on it but I don't want to do that and I don't want to drink alcohol even though my life appears to be in a dire situation which it is but I am not miserable like you claim. This could change obviously but I am not even mad I'm not going out tonight. Last week at the ending prayer I was holding hands with an attractive female and my hand started to tremor because of the medications I am on. I was going to let go of her hand but she grabbed on tighter and finished the prayer. I told her I am sorry about the tremor and she gave 0 shits. That happens to me all the time by the way. It's annoying. It's really not a bad enough outcome to avoid AA altogether it's just annoying. As long as there is no proselytizing, socialization with this group is actually more interesting than many. We've been to hell and back which just brings a more extreme sense of humor and levity I have not come across anywhere else.

Dude tendies and sugar cookies, you could be doing way worse pal. Tendies is like one of the top foods you need if you want to increase benchpress.

How do I reconcile saying All Cops Are Bad (ACAB) and liking Palantir within the same hour?

As much as people might want to believe I don't want the USA to collapse. I just think it is inevitable. Why would I want my quality of life even worse than it already is?

How sick can I be to like Palantir which is a company that helped streamline putting kids in cages (ICE)?

That is one of their rougher tasks. Palantir also probably saved many lives with helping the CDC with the distribution of the Covid vaccine. Palantir is rumored to have found Osama Bin Laden. Palantir improves the chances that the "good guys" will find the "bad guys" and not civilians. The better software wins. The better AI wins. In our world we must think in these terms. Oh yeah, we are Earth citizens. Let me migrate to Germany and live for $0 but most Germans don't think in that matter and most USA don't think in those terms, and China thinks in completely different terms, Saudia Arabia, Russia, etc. We have to think in terms of us vs them or we might die one day because of it. We live in a way different world than a small, secure village thousands of years ago. There is state power and corporate power. They are so interlinked that the USA is not a democracy but an oligarchy. It's hard to see either power whittled away. Do we want {insert fascist here} fascism or Googlistan ruling over all. Well, it will always be a little of both in my opinion. The corporate oligarchy treats a lot of people well.

I don't think there is anyway that rooting for Palantir and yelling ACAB at any random sampling of cops is not hypocritical. The government buys Palantir's software and Palantir obviously agrees to this so now Palantir is a bastard. Maybe less of a bastard if they are finding actual terrorists and saving lives and upholding Western values. I have to say I am not a fan of what exactly values the West has ended up with but I am a fan of Western thought dating back to Kant, Schopenhauer, Hegel, Nietzsche, Heidegger, et al. That is something worth fighting for. That is something worth protecting. I mean God damn it the UK courts just ok'd Assange's extradition to USA courts. It's fucking bullshit. The whittling away of the 1st amendment will be the death of all of us.

I wish for their to be a group of all of the best minds making software and AI to save the world. Time will tell but I have a feeling Palantir falls short if one counts all their projects but if Palantir develops the next nuclear bomb in the form of AI that wins against China maybe they are not total bastards. No time for revolution. Cold war and collapse is on the menu. I am just a rat clinging on for dear life.

I think I look like a Frenchman appropriating the Haka. Pretty ballsy or idiotic to dance and close my eyes on the front-lines of battle.

Does anyone else besides me think about skills and relationships?

I remember when I was a young teen I could play all the golf I wanted for free and a lot of my friends played. So, guess what I did? I played golf. I got pretty good. My high school included a lot of rich kids that belonged to country clubs so we were pretty good. I never took it that seriously but I had years worth of practice that basically lasts for a lifetime. Except I resent the game and all the time I spent playing it now. I don't enjoy playing anymore and am too broke to partake even if I wanted to.

It's the same with lacrosse. It was free besides the expensive equipment that my rich parents were more than happy to pay for. Don't get me wrong. I don't feel resentment for lacrosse even though I turned down scholarships to basically play Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne and later poker alone in my room. Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne is also mostly useless but I guess it was fun while it lasted. I don't think I would have found poker if it weren't for WC3:TFT though. I picked my major (history) because I liked one of my professor's in a general history class and I had to pick something after sophomore year. My major eventually became poker anyways. That was a valuable skill at the time. I got to meet a lot of really great and intriguing people.

Well, anyways, that is how that went. I was in the right place at the right time. History gave me skills that a lot of people are horrendous at but it can be difficult to monetize. Like how in tv and film people think that if it says based on a true story that the story is going to be true 100% of the way and that drives me crazy. That is typically what I use my history degree for these days.

Well, I am re-looking at myself and I obviously need a job to cover the essentials and then after that it is figuring out how to work on skills that I like that will be relevant as I age and the same with relationships.

- I want to learn how to sail
- I want to learn how to code (this time with no strings attached on it becoming a career) print("""I just want to learn how to hack"""
- I can't think of anything else tai chi? it's fun making up songs on the guitar

The point is skills + relationships > career + money

but

Without any semblance of career + money there isn't really any means to develop skills + relationships and skills + relationships lead to career + money

My guitar was $150. Amortized over how many times I've played it it is rather cheap. I can play until I am 80 or older probably. That is pretty good.

I can paint into my 80s but painting can get pricey and I need a studio.

Coding is free besides time spent on it.

In a way I am fucked though because none of my skills lead to a job besides culinary skills and I don't want to do food and bev. It's not like there are data scientist boot–camps where I live. That's more of a Silicon Valley thing and I don't like Silicon Valley. I would love to learn more about software engineering, cryptography, cyber-security, hacking but I don't know if it is in my DNA. I don't know what is in my DNA.

So, yes, hiems, I will admit that I am dumb in that I have a history degree and no real marketable/relatable skills for jobs I want. I am dumb for not even knowing what job I want.
