I guess when I asked for descriptive answers, I wanted to know what makes X a good place to visit or thing to do. I wanna be inspired to make changes and do new things in my life. This probably wasn't the best place to ask.

Does anything resonate?

If so then maybe we can get more detailed.

Traveling seems cool but do I go solo?

Thailand - been thinking of going for awhile
Rave - went to my first rave this year w molly
BJJ - always good to learn how to take someone down, but i'm a all or nothing kind of guy. when i learn stuff i put 110% of my energy there, so no time for that atm.
The Wire - tried watching it years ago but didn't make it past 3 episodes. would prob watch again. everyone loves that show.
Hike a mountain - natures cool. down to go to any national park. i'm athletic too so I like challenging hikes.

Bar crawl - not much of a people person but gotta learn at some point right.
Improv - maybe but would need a lot of work

maybe my post was too asshole as you weren't trying to splurge or anything

it's just unusual most people think they're money-limited in terms of what they want to do

a lot of stuff doesn't cost money. like reading, meeting people, studying or working to get better at something. of course you can take lessons but what do you WANT?

for me something like;

Habits: this is the thing what are your hobbies? or what do you want to learn? most things it's not about the money like you can't buy skill or fulfillment. just need to devote time. I would basically try to reframe the issue as, how can you leverage your money to give you the peace of mind to focus on developing yourself without just drifting
One-time activities: threesome
Long-term skills/achievements: investing/trading, marriage broker. also a lot of hobbies should be like skills, some are just recreational though
Vacations: fuck that unless it's domestic in a country you know about, you gonna go to paris and take a picture of the eiffel tower? come on
Anything: invest in yourself in terms of shoes, watch, computer, phone, stuff like that, not saying go luxury but go for quality and value because these are useful things

It seems to be not very profitable in the long run to play those kind of hands. - Gus Hansen

I never went traveling solo so I can't really comment. I was planning to do Thailand solo though.

You are surrounded by great parks and forests. Explore muh man! This is something great to do solo or with people if you want.

The last two might get you out of your comfort zone.

I would suggest to start is to pick 1 bar nearby or one you really like and pick one day a week and go for some drinks solo (or with friends). Make sure to go every week. Just talk with the bartenders if they aren't too busy. Talk with the people next to you if they seem open to it. Give it some time and things will develop. Expand to other bars on other days if you feel like it. Eventually you'll get invited to a bar crawl or you could bring it up yourself. You could also go on a bar crawl right off the bat so you can see a lot of bars in one go but going on a bar crawl by yourself would not be as fun.

Improv feels like some massive jump but everyone is in the same spot so then once everyone embraces it it's a really good time. It's a good way to meet people also.

mmm i need a life coach. my life is in disarray.

First things first.

You have $10k.

Don't spend it all in one place.

Probably time to work on yourself?

What do you want?

drone666   Brasil. Nov 14 2019 06:13. Posts 1821

do things that you think you should do but you don't because you are scared to leave our comfort zone
I'm confident most people already know what they should do

basically find things that would take you out of your comfort zone, when you are used to be ballsy breaking this comfort zone barrier over and over again, you will be doing shit that you never imagined you would have the balls to do, you will feel real freedom, and then you will feel reborn with an entire new world of possibilities for your life

could be different for everyone, but most of the time this has to do with socialization or punching someone in the face

Dont listen to anything I say

real freedom is punching someone in the face?

The thing about wants and desires is that many times they are perverted by the structures in place. Why do I want those shoes?

The key is to temper wants and desires to reasonable amounts. What is enough? Is this an act of repression? I don't think I am convinced on any of this. It just doesn't seem reasonable to chase all our wants and desires in this life. Or maybe I am just being a pussy. I tried chasing all my wildest wants and desires and it didn't work out well for me. Maybe it can work out well for you? Who knows? There are seemingly people in this world who operate in that fashion.

It is natural to want some connections, novelty, adventure, life enriching experiences. It's up to you to find out what you truly want. I am unsure if it is necessary but getting a good therapist might help. Stay away from life coaches and PUA coaches. I agree with drone in that most of it comes down to dipping your toes in the water and seeing how things go. I disagree that assault = freedom.

Go to more raves.

- 1 or so good energy drinks
- about 4 or so units of alcohol
- clean, good ass molly

You'll be free

But then that wears off and what do you do?

I think the best maybe to get a therapist and keep things kind of local. Explore your city. Explore the forests. Explore the mountains. Find a bar that is walking distance or find your favorite bar and Uber. Do improv or something to get social and meeting people. This all may be terrifying. I don't know. Actually a hiking meetup group might be something to try.

I feel like for some of the traveling it's nice to have someone that understands the culture. I don't know though.

You have to get to the core of the issues though. You can't runaway from yourself.

I mean I am in a similar position. I find myself content most times sitting in front of a computer or reading or whatever but it always bursts through that I am discontented. I want the connections, the novelty, the adventure, the life enriching experiences. I am just going off of my experience on what has worked and what hasn't worked so far. It helps that you are presumably not an alcoholic or a drug addict. It's much easier to be social with drugs and alcohol not off the table.

I agree. I feel like money is a currency unit for time and opportunity, but only if spent wisely. I'm trying to figure out what wisely means.

do things that you think you should do but you don't because you are scared to leave our comfort zone

What's this for you? I'm asking because I'm not sure I know what they are for me or what it means to leave my comfort zone. Maybe move to a new place by myself and learn something I've never done.

Yeah same. So after doing all the things you suggested to me, do you feel more content?

RiKD    United States. Nov 15 2019 00:25. Posts 8520

I felt more content spending time with friends. Traveling there is a contentment that comes as well as a special kind of stimulation. Like, I don't feel more content NOW after doing these things but I felt content at the time. But these things did shape who I am and I carry the knowledge I learned from these experiences.

I will say that having good friends is better than the situation I am currently in. Having a good girlfriend that elevates me. Being in Paris for a few days would be exciting and inspirational. Paris is expensive though. A walk in a forest isn't. I am always content in a forest.

If you are ultimately worried about contentment it might be wise to read some Stoicism or Buddhism.

What is something that you've always wanted to do but never did for whatever reason?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fell into that. I wanted to do that since I was like 13 but never could. Finally, even past 30 I decided to try it and had a great experience even though I ultimately don't do it anymore.

Painting and improv also fall into that as well as some of the places I travelled to.

You could also go like the capitalist route and start lifting weights and strategizing a new wardrobe. Not that lifting weights is a bad thing but I'd rather go hiking in the forest and spending my money on experiences rather than materialism.

for me it was related to travelling, socializing, taking action, etc, which is usually kinda the same for everyone
I had a girlfriend in brazil for 4 years, and my relationship was kinda shit for the last 3 years, I had no excuse to break up or anything, was just too mild for me, not much happening in my life and I was afraid to leave my comfort zone and I knew that, I was basically a RIKD with a girlfriend

finally I decided to take action and I broke up with her, moved to Asia without knowing anyone here

also socializing is something that everyone should work on, sometimes you want to talk with a girl, or give your opinion in a group of people and you dont dare
I can easily talk to girls in random places now after practicing a bit

but one thing that I really hate is travelling, I am not sure why, there's a chance that is because I traveled a bit already and getting old
but I feel it has to do something with having to ask questions to strangers, look dumb, look lost, look lonely
seems like I still care about other people judgement about me in some specific situations, which is funny since in some other ocasions I am at the other end of the spectrum ( rikd blog, jk )

but whenever I feel like there's something that I think I should do but I dont because I think ill look dumb, I just remind myself that is my reptilian brain trying to trick me and I just go there and do it and feel great, not for the outcome, but for the action itself

another thing is that I think I should play another game other than NLHU, seems obvious, but I keep making excuses, im not 100% sure if my excuses are not legit arguments to keep me playing NLHU

Dont listen to anything I sayLast edit: 15/11/2019 07:59

Kanye West does the same. Could be good or bad company depending on how you look at it.

I just rub one out to pornography that turns me on and then Stroggoz berates me for objectifying women and being a hypocrite.

I can never win.

I used to watch this before going to the gym.

It's funny watching it now. There are some attractive women but it looks like a pretty beat club. Also, at this time my fashion was not so great. The solution in a club is all black Prada and not be fat. It also helps if you can drop a few grand with out batting an eye. That's basically it.

The being a regular at a few bars is such a better route unless you actually like the club scene. Make sure to get jacked and obsess about your clothing (it does work) but the best is to elevate above that and just be awesome. It does help to learn all the rules though so then you can break them later if you want. What would Picasso do? Ultimately, what do you want to do?
