- A light heavyweight bout between Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Jared Cannonier, briefly linked to UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs. Pettis, was instead scheduled for this event. However on October 19, it was announced that Nogueira was pulled from the card after being notified by USADA of a potential doping violation, which resulted from an out-of-competition sample collected on Sept. 27. The violation was due to a positive test for hydrochlorothiazide. He was replaced by Jan Blachowicz on November 7.
- A light heavyweight bout between former UFC Light Heavyweight Championship challenger Glover Teixeira and Misha Cirkunov was expected to take place at UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs. Machida, but was moved to this event after a recent hand injury for Teixeira was slow to heal and required surgery. (This means Teixeira needed an extra 1.5 months to heal his hand, which tells me he wasn't using it in training during those last 1.5 months...)
- Former WEC Featherweight Champion and two time UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo was scheduled to face former title challenger Ricardo Lamas in a rematch in the co-headliner. The pairing met previously at UFC 169 in February 2014, with Aldo defending his title via unanimous decision. However, Aldo was removed from the bout on November 10 in favor of a rematch against the current champion Max Holloway two weeks earlier at UFC 218 after Holloway's scheduled opponent, former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar pulled out of that fight. He was replaced by Josh Emmett on November 27.
- A middleweight bout between Vitor Miranda and Julian Marquez was expected to take place at this event; however it was announced on December 4, 2017 that Miranda was pulled from the fight, citing injury and was replaced by Darren Stewart on December 4. (Stewart recently lost via submission in Round 1 on November 11)
- Sultan Aliev and Sheldon Westcott were removed out of their respective fights against Nordine Taleb and Danny Roberts for undisclosed reasons. Taleb and Roberts are now expected to face each other. (Both Taleb and Roberts were originally scheduled to get easy wins over two shitty fighters, but now they have to face each other in a touch match-up)
- A flyweight bout between Tim Elliott and Justin Scoggins was expected to take place at this event; however it was announced on December 4, 2017 that Scoggins was pulled from the fight, citing spinal fracture injury. He was replaced by promotional newcomer Pietro Menga on December 4.

A lot of these greats who have been through wars with incredible chins seem to have a number on their durability. Lawler's might have been unlocked by that KO from Woodley, could be USADA too since Lawler didn't always have an iron chin (vs Nick Diaz of all people). USADA doing too much of a good job there might be some shit regarding Conor now smh. All of these guys are on something, feels like they just opt to take the risk and just fight as long as they're not caught and just move to shit leagues or bellator.

Lawler isn't the same man after USADA, not to mention all his wars. I mean he struggled with Cerrone.
Despite all the RDA USADA stuff, he looks as good as he ever has.
I'm thinking like 60/40 RDA, as Lawler still has the power, boxing, and size and if he lands big RDA in trouble.
