- Peter Sobotta was expected to face Dominic Waters at the event. However, Sobotta pulled out of the fight in late March citing injury and was replaced by Leon Edwards.
- Paddy Holohan was expected to face Willie Gates at the event. However, on April 25, Holohan abruptly announced his retirement, citing a rare blood disorder. In turn, Gates will face Yuta Sasaki.

Want to believe arlovski can pull this off but don't see how he doesn't get picked apart then prob tko'd.
Going to be on Tumenov and little on Tuck and Madadi
Can't bring myself to bet Struve/Silva. Both suck so much at this point

Why the confidence in Tumenov? Only fight I've seen his grappling tested in was the Alcantara fight where he was taken down several times and beat up there and lost a decision. Also he comes from a striking background.
I do think Gunnar is way too small for WW though. Hopefully if he loses this he finally wises up and moves to LW. He's only a tiny bit bigger than Conor.

Yeah, it's a super tricky fight. I've seen a lot of people mention they're putting large bets on Tumenov, as if he's a lock. I personally think it will go to a decision, unless Gunnar gets a submission win.
Regarding their size, they are both 5'11 (according to Wikipedia and Sherdog), and they both don't have thick bodies, nor are they "ripped."
Gunnar is better at keeping distance between himself and his opponent, and he has better foot movement and BJJ. Tumenov has the better boxing and power in his hands.
Ildemar Alcantara was able to use his massive size advantage (6'2 vs. 5'11) against Tumenov, and just LnP him. Gunnar doesn't have the size advantage, but his BJJ is much more effective in MMA than Alcantara, and he would lock in a submission if he was on top of Tumenov like Alcantara was.
I'll make a final prediction after the weigh-ins on Saturday morning. Neither guy will look any different than usual, I just don't have time to theory-craft at the moment.

I actually predicted Rick Story would wreck him along with a lot of other people. Failing to take down one of the best wrestlers in the division =/ unable to take down Tumenov. Rick Story is a beast and is a really tough fight for just about anybody besides Maia.

yeah thats true.
Nelson's latest previous fights vs stand up guys, he was initially striking vs Thatch then he knocked him down then submitted him, he did not really initiate, grapple or shoot for a take down, so he usually starts fighting stand up. Another example is the Rick Story fight where Nelson just kept getting tagged in these stand up exchanges. VS Tumenov then, well you get the idea if you watch Tumenov's latest previous fights.
Obviously Nelson can win most likely by submitting Tumenov, but a slim chance this will happen.

I wouldnt describe Overeem as picking apart anybody, its not how he fights.
Both these guys are glass chinned hard hitters with alike re-shaped styles by Jackson trying focusing on movement and not getting hit but with fundamentally different "bag of tricks", I think more often than not Overeem KOs Arlovski with a counter

The Thatch fight lasted 2 minutes... So your point is that Gunnar throws some punches before he tries to take guys down... like everyone else in MMA? He tried to take story down a bunch but Story stuffed him.
Not saying Gunnar will win here, just curious why people think Albert is a good bet at -170 against a good grappler when the only other time he's faced a grappler in the UFC he lost.
I like Tumenov though, his striking is fun to watch.

"Nick Hein injured, UFC seeks replacement opponent for Jon Tuck at Sunday's UFC Fight Night 87 event."
Sucks for Tuck. Since it's not within 1-2 days before the fight, the UFC will either find him a short notice opponent (which means he is facing a guy he knows nothing about), or they will pay him his show-money and not his win-money. When a fighter pulls out 1-2 days before an event, the other guy is usually paid his win-money and show-money for his troubles, but that's not the case in this type of situation, unless the UFC feels really bad for Tuck's financial situation (yeah right).

Overeem > Arlovski - Slight lean toward Reem after seeing how easily Arlovski went down to Miocic but it's a good matchup style wise for Andrei and I think the fact that they've trained together favors the guy who is less afraid to actually exchange (Andrei)
Struve v Silva - Pkm, terrible
Tumenov > Nelson - Tumenov if he can avoid the takedown will probably just tear up the lead leg and then beat that ass for 3 rounds, but if it goes to the mat early obv Tumenov is in trouble. Line seems right.
Randamine > Elmose
Krylov > Barroso
Kowalkievicz > Clarke - Clarke should have like 0 outs here.
Wade > Khabilov - Split decision seems imminent
Cedenblad > McClellan
Cabral > Medadi
Horiguchi > Seery - Seery got that Irish heart but Guchi is is ridiculously good and I could see him getting a finish
Edwards > Waters
Gates vs Sasaki - Slight lean Gates but who really knows

I personally never watch them because it's all shit I already know, and Dan Hardy's co-host doesn't know anything about MMA, so it's basically Hardy doing everything by himself.
However, some of the episodes are kinda cool, but it's only when they're in the main studio with the large touch screen in the background where they can do a bunch of cool shit with a fight video. I don't remember if they're only in the main studio for PPV events or not, but I do know they do low budget episodes when they're on the road in Europe, just like they're doing in the video above.

Yeah, you like value from underdogs that could likely/potentially be a coinflip. It's a pretty solid strategy. Since I didn't have the time to test it over a good sample, thanks for sharing.

Also have Overeem ML and Horoguchi ML. Also have O1.5, but I'm worried about it now. I took it largely because were teammates, unlikely to want to murder each other.

I like both, they are great JackSlack writes and uses GIFs.. have some sporadical videos but they are mainly about old time boxers like Willy Pep, BJJ Scout vids are really good too

Have a hard time seeing Arlovski beating Reem. He is just spamming his right hand this days and Alistair is too technical on the feet to let that get in. You can never be too sure with Overeem thought, as his ability to lose a fight out of nowhere is second to none.
Tumenov and Nelson - very fun match up, I think Tumenov will avoid the takedowns and smash Gunnar on the feet, but Nelson definitely is a live dog. He has sneaky stand up and if somehow the fight goes to the ground his edge there is huge.
I don't know how Bigfoot is still allowed to fight. What a piece of shit co main event. Struve as bad as he is should be taking this fight easy.

he is not Roy Nelson, you cant just prepare for the right hand and cruise to victory he throws hooks, straights uppercuts and mix it well with the left it wouldnt surprise me if he catches Overeem the fight is far from being one sided

If Arlovski wins, its not through outboxing Overreem, its through KOing him. After watching Overeem vs JDS, hes way too technical and experienced to be outboxed by Arlovski.

Yeah Arlovski isnt remotely at the boxing level of Overeem but he is very explosive and I think there is a decent chance he connects and Overeem tends to collapse when hurt under pressure quickly

Depends on which Arlovski shows up.
Thug Arlovski version who destroyed Browne. Gave no fucks and just went hard. If he does this I give him an ok chance. 35, maybe even 40%
Or please don't hurt me Arlovski that showed up against Mir and Schaub I think he gets crushed badly. When he fights like this he is completely afraid to commit to anything.
Theres also the x-factor that Overeem is the best in the world at losing fights he shouldn't via being stupid.

Jackson and Wink coached Travis Browne perfectly to exploit Overeems guard, and now they know even more about him and they ditched Reem to coach Arlovski so I seriously doubt he is coming out with the wrong plan

Travis Browne only beat Overeem after Reem gassed out going for the kill. Many referees would've stopped that fight, as Travis was curled up in a ball against the cage, eating punches.
Travis did nothing against Overeem that made me think Jackson/Wink prepared him for the fight.

Yea that was more Reem gassing and being stupid than some master game plan. I mean the kick was a good one against Reems guard sure, but he threw it like 7 times in a row without connecting before it finally hit. That was more Reem being too gassed and dumb to stop it.
Gunnar looking more muscular and lean in this fight. Looks to actually be in great shape, by far the best of his career.

Arlovski was a lot more muscular and lean back in his first UFC run.
While he does still have plenty of muscle, he also put on more body fat, which is natural as you get older, even if you're in-shape. For example, his stomach is soft, and he probably gained weight in his thighs, which are two areas many guys gain fat first.

Horiguchi always slows down his striking after the first half of the fight. At 2:50 of Round 2, Horiguchi was still fast, but not nearly as fast as he was in R1.
Also, Seery has one of the best chins in MMA, so yeah...

People get way too overhyped on strikers who haven't really had their grappling tested yet.
Gunnar did much better striking than expected.
I really want to see Gunnar at LW, think he'd be a top guy. He's just too small for the top guys at WW. He wouldn't even be a huge LW, about average size.

I LOVE the way Gunnar positions his hips in side control and makes his body feel light/weak/off balance. His opponents never expect his left leg when it whips over them like a bullet, and he secures full mount.
Great performance from Gunnar. Improved striking and his already legit BJJ.

Damien Maia is all I can think about after seeing that Gunni performance.
Tumenov didn't fight very well though, I expected him to be more patient and pick apart Gunni at distance instead of leaping in and getting taken down like that. Props to Nelson tho, obviously his striking was getting to him or he wouldn't have made those mistakes.

That's pretty ridiculous since Gunnar is like the complete opposite of Conor. Super quiet, reserved, humble, nice etc.
I think your chances with Struve are pretty good, but it's obviously a massively high variance fight.
Got Reem and Struve/

Tumenov got fully mounted twice, just about anyone is fucked after the 1st one. Only reason to roll over on ur stomach is to save urself from a face smashing which gunnar was not putting on him. Just a mediocre elbow game. He shoulda tried to wait it out from the bottom and knock him out in Rd3 as his only out. Giving up his back like that from full mount was straight suicide with that much time left.

And Gunnar actually knows what he's doing on the ground, both in defensive and offensive positions.

Why even bother making other betside when that is available. Dumb

Man you just gotta feel bad for bigfoot. He legit needs trt because of his condition, and without it he's been instant KO'd in 3 of his last 4 fights. Really hope he retires.

That's by far the cleanest punch I've ever seen Struve throw.
I know it's Bigfoot but I don't think people will realize what a difference in speed and technique that punch was from prior Struve strikes.

Bigfoot's look nearly convinced me to place a bet on him after the weigh ins then I just remembered his fight vs hunt with no TRT, and Struve vs noguiera

Bigfoot may as well keep fighting to provide for his offspring.

IF Reem ever gets a fight vs verdum, miocic or even prolly Cain I'm betting everything I have against him
Why? Outside of the first like 2 minutes where it looked like he was thrown off by Arlovskis bull rush, he looked good. Completely controlled the fight and didn't allow Arlovski to land anything at all. And that was against an Arlovski who fought to his full potential, not scared Arlovski.
Overeem is a tough fight for all those guys you listed. His grappling is very, very good and so is his striking.

Got 1st place in today's DraftKing event; however, it's a 15-way tie, and the prize pool isn't as big as usual, so what originally looked like an $800 score ends up being a $201 for 1st place. Also won $55 in additional minor placings.
This is the 4th time or so that I've gotten 1st place and had to share the prize with several people. I'm still searching for my first big score, which is anything over $500. I still haven't done well in a PPV event on DK. Most of my scores are $100+.
that would be a sample size of 1 sir; not a good indicator of general trends. you know what i mean. All the DFS pros stack 10 of the same lineups figuring each will be +ev even though winnings decline from 1-through whatever since they make way better picks than the field. It just shits on the casuals

I just think arlovski is pretty dam washed up and reem fights like his face is made of glass (which it is) so i just don't see him beating those guys in any sort of brawl. just needs to land his 1 hitter quitter. there is a reason his sig strike % is 75% while the average of the division is 46%

He isn't going to brawl with them... Since his last KO loss he's pretty extremely hard to hit. He's stopped being a stationary tank and has learned that you can't just cover up in MMA like in K-1. He moves around a lot and is very hard to hit. He is very defensive and picks his shots now which is absolutely the perfect strategy for a guy with a mediocre chin who hits like a tank.
Arlovski fought the best fight he could tonight, he came out very aggressive and went after Reem. Arlovski's offense when he isn't scared is still really good, and he couldn't do shit to Reem.
And Reems grappling is beastly.
Obviously he's always one shot away from a loss, but skill wise I'd say Reem is probably the best HW right now.

I went here!! Was awesome. Made a bunch of money off of the main event by betting on Overeem. I thought Arlovski's gameplan with rushing in early was good, but difficult/impossible to keep doing that over time. I hope Reem will become a champion.
You almost twin-caracked his AK - JonnyCosmo

Overeem is good, he can probably beat mostly anyone except Cain. Arlovski is better than before, but nowhere really. He doesn't have anything special, with a weak chin and bad technique, what he has isn't enough against the top-level fighters.

overeem seems like a terrible matchup for cain I think that might be his easiest fight

Seems the other way to me, after a few minutes he wouldn't be able to really technically counter and then its gg.
