- It was expected to be headlined by a potential UFC Lightweight Championship title eliminator bout between undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov and The Ultimate Fighter: Team Lesnar vs. Team dos Santos winner Tony Ferguson. The fight was previously scheduled for The Ultimate Fighter: Team McGregor vs. Team Faber Finale, but Nurmagomedov pulled out due to a rib injury. The fight was eventually rescheduled for this event. On April 5, it was announced that Ferguson pulled out of the bout due to a lung issue. Therefore, the Teixeira-Evans bout was elevated to a five-round main event status. Two days later, it was announced that Nurmagomedov will now face promotional newcomer Darrell Horcher in a catchweight of 160 lbs.
- Mauricio Rua was expected to face Rashad Evans in a bout between two former UFC Light Heavyweight Champions. The pairing was originally expected to meet in Rua's first title defense in March 2011 at UFC 128, but Evans pulled out due to a knee injury. Once again the bout will not materialize, as Rua pulled out of the fight on March 9 due to injury and was replaced by former title challenger Glover Teixeira.
- Caio Magalhaes was expected to face Cezar Ferreira at the event. Magalhaes pulled out of the fight in the week leading up to the event citing an ankle injury and was replaced by Oluwale Bamgbose.
- A rematch between former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida and former Pride Welterweight and Middleweight Champion as well as former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Dan Henderson was expected to take place at this event. Their first fight ended in a split decision win for Machida at UFC 157 in February 2013. However on April 13, the UFC announced that Machida declared the usage of a banned substance during an out-of-competition sample collection last week. Machida stated that he was unaware that the substance was prohibited both in and out of competition and, in accordance with the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, his disclosure of usage will be taken into consideration by USADA during any potential results management and adjudication process. Therefore, he was removed from the bout and Henderson will be re-booked for another event at a later date. He later released a statement announcing that he used a supplement which contains 7-Keto-DHEA, an anabolic agent. He also claimed ignorance in the situation and apologized for the situation, as well as accepting full responsibility for his actions.

Khabib vs Ferguson, Rua vs Rashad, Machida vs Hendo. All gone : (
My possible bets:
- I like Evans at +180 (I still have a little faith on him).
- I like Tecia at +190 but I am going to watch again her fights to be sure
- Swanson -125

Personally don't see how anyone can confidently be on Evans given how tentative he looked in his only appearance in the last almost 3 years and he's a dude nearing 37 yrs old that relied fairly heavily on his athletic explosion coming back from another stretch of inactivity...even if a good bit shorter than the last time. Talent isn't a question so wouldn't be so surprising but I mean...kinda just banking on 2008-2010 Rashad Evans to magically show up
I'm still interested in seeing Nurmy fight anyone just to see if he's moving as well as he did pre-injuries
Like the Tecia odds as well especially in a 3 round fight where she doesn't have to worry about gassing herself out for rds 4 and 5, trying to continually press with flurries and grapple Rose to the ground and keep her there. Kinda tough for me to root for her though since she would muck up potential fun fights in the women's straw weight division that Rose is close to. It's not like she doesn't try...but I'm not sure I've seen her ever come even remotely close to finishing anyone in any of her fights. Power-less 'Tiny Tornado' with no real submission game
Like McGee for the slight upset as well and Cub > Dias. Not sure I'll be on Pennington because laying nearly 2-1 on her just sucks in general but I'd be pretty okay with Bethe never again sniffing a high profile fight so I'm kinda interested in that one

Beth has been at AKA for at least 2 months, which is why I picked her. I expect Beth to use wrestling against a non-wrestler who throws and eats a lot of strikes and won't be knocked out.
It won't be pretty, but Beth by decision, with a small chance of a RNC if she can take Pennington down, which then Pennington will squirm and give up her back at some point.
I care very little about seeing Rashad fight at 205 sadly. Seems like a real cool dude, but as far as I'm concerned go to 185 or retire. I wish he had gone down before.
Just went down the list of fights and finally arrived at Dodson vs Gamburyan, that's actually really cool love that fight.

Khabib and ferguson are the top 2 lightweights imo; either would handle RDA or McGregor imo. Woulda been a sweet fight but maybe they shouldn't be fighting until it is for the belt
Pretty poor Fox card.
I personally actually liked last week's card more.

Darrell Horcher (162) vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov (160.5)#
Hacran Dias (145.5) vs. Cub Swanson (145)
Michael Chiesa (156) vs. Beneil Dariush (156)
Bethe Correia (136) vs. Raquel Pennington (135.5)
Court McGee (170.5) vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio (171)
Drew Dober (156) vs. Islam Makhachev (156.5)*
John Dodson (135) vs. Manny Gamburyan (136)
Randy Brown (171) vs. Michael Graves (170.5)
Oluwale Bamgbose (183.5) vs. Cezar Ferreira (185.5)
Omari Akhmedov (171) vs. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos (170.5)
# Horcher has one hour to lose the additional 1 pound
* Makhachev has one hour to lose the additional 0.5 pound
Horcher was breathing heavy and looked nervous when he got on the scale, and he weighed in at 162, which is 1 pound heavy. He also looked sweaty and had red skin. The cut must've owned him bad.

Hammering bangbose at -200? seems good.
Want action on khabib but -900.
So for action just Parlayed khabib, tex, bamgbose, Dodson.

Somehow failed to see the chiesa beneil matchup on first glance. Think that's a great fight and a really good test for beneil. Feel like the odds are spot on for it
Bethe looked to be really fit, something that didn't pop into my head in her previous appearances
Thought ponzinibbio looked better than before too. Bit more fleshed out, like the weight cut was more comfortable. Might pass on McGee after all
And Glover looked good. Prob my only definitive bet so far with bamgbose cept only doing a mini on bamgbose

Any particular reason you're on rashad? Matchup? Or pegging the rashad that showed up for bader as rust/fluky?
Maybe it's an insult to rashad but I feel like osp has some similar attributes. And Glover just murked a prime osp. Yeah I'd take prime rashad over Glover in a hurry but that gun shy rashad that showed up for bader is a long ways away from that

Forgot I have do some stuff early in the day tomorrow (Saturday), so I'm gonna miss several fights. I'll probably get home in time to see the last 6 fights.
If this was a normal UFC card, I would've been home in time to see all of the fights. Oh well.

Main reason is gut and the fact that a really good chain wrestler in Phil Davis gave texeira problems... I kinda just think he's overrated and one dimensional and stiff on the feet.
Osp and rashad are very different stylistically, osp being much more offensively oriented and unpolished... Rashad being tactical and illusive. I just favor the iq and speed over the brute force and size in this one, although rashad did look afraid to get hit by bader.
I also think the version of bader that fought rashad is a much better version than the one that almost kod and then got kod by glover (just the mma math angle)
Still, not a strong feeling or anything, so I could def be totally off and wouldn't at all be surprised.

Yea I'm prob reaching a bit too far in osp and rashad comparisons.
For me, wasn't mainly that rashad was a bit afraid to get hit. More that he just didn't seem to have any confidence in his timing and couldn't let his hands go. And at his age, it's more often an actual development as opposed to a one time thing. Bader is a bit quicker than Glover and does feint a lot more tho which maybe threw shad off so I guess we'll see right away how comfortable he is

Dos Santos > Akhmedov via 3rd round KO - Good fight, cardio and chin were the main differences, lotta bombs were winged
Ferreira > Bamgbose - As expected, Bamgbose dropped him and almost finished him in the 1st but because he couldn't do it and then got taken down, he gassed and then was basically worthless and couldn't throw anything decent without getting taking down again. Instead of actually trying to finish it Ferreira stayed in guard and just pitter-pattered him to death for a decision.
I'm not surprised the line on Rose vs Tecia crashed, odds were pretty wide for a competitive 115 WMMA fight between two girls who probably won't finish each other (maybe Rose gets a finish but it's not super likely)

Yah, excellent performance. He's been getting better and better. Super impressed with his composure, TDD, and strikes breaking out of the clinch to go along with his power and leg kicks.
He's great. No shame in his loss to Lorenz Larkin. He's got top-5 potential.

Michael Chiesa gets your back and it is absolutely over. I've never seen anyone even come close to getting out and Beneil Dariush is one of top BJJ guys in MMA. That's incredible.
Hes one of those guys who can beat a ton of guys that are way better than him but can also lose to bad matchups - a wrestle-boxer w/ good cardio like Michael Johnson would smash him.
Total wild card.

Decent win for Cub but honestly, I think he's gone as far as he's gonna go. Fighting with a fluctuating rhythm is a good thing for unpredictability but fighting with no rhythm at is meh IMO. Seems like he's always looking for the perfect strike instead of setting it up and putting the pressure on so that the KO just exposes itself.

Cub won't ever fight for a title again, but he went back to using good movement in this fight, showed improved kicks, and much improved TDD.
Cub always gets taken down in most of his fights, and Dias usually gets take downs in his fights. Dias probably felt dejected after the first 1-2 failed TD attempts.

Bangbus basically fucked all of us on DraftKings.
I won $70 on DK, but invested $27, so I profited $43.
I had several teams with 300+ points, but Bangbus held them back from getting 400+ like I expected.

If that's the case it doesn't surprise me. He's totally about that Fox money these days and seemed afraid to actually get knocked out vs Bader.
Thought he'd be coming in with a refreshed attitude but he should def retire if he's quitting. He had a way better career than he should of as is. No reason to pile up the L's and bore us to death wrestle-fucking scrubs.

Rashad so done. That first left hook was perfectly placed though and Glover's power is never in question. Looked like Shad was trying to matrix away from getting cornered but just isn't fast enough anymore. And shouldn't have let Glover just walk him down like that though easier said than done. Didn't really sound like he was going to hang 'em up after though upon watching his post interviews just now. Which he clearly should. After looking fairly strong and athletic against Rampage six years ago, he's really only looked good against Phil Davis and Chael. So twice in six years and he's going to be 37 soon. And Chael at that stage was a throw away just like Tito was so really probably only once
Ended up being busy with stuff and only randomly catching Graves-Brown and McGee-Ponz before catching the main then having to dip again the second after Shad got put on queer street. Graves performed well and was pretty relentless on the ground but got a strong feeling that Brown lacks heart and so won't be going anywhere real good. Facial expression was just discouraged pretty early before real damage was even done and Graves' finishing sequence had good technique but Brown offered no real resistance by that point even though he was still in clear control of his faculties.
Only bet was Glover and one of my five DK lineups turned out a pretty nice 458.5 score with Graves, Nurmy, Ponz, Glover, and Tecia. Apparently didn't enter contests very right though (buncha ppl with 462 pt lineups right above me as well) and only made $104 off of it. Which went straight into handing out some money to some NBA pro's after picking up Curry and Durant. Other MMA lineups did just ok with some barely there profits...305-350 pointers with mixtures of Ponz, Graves, Nurmy and 1 more of Glover getting shaded by a cpl Bamgbose's, cpl Manvels, 1 Beneil, and 1 more Tecia.
Looking forward to Jones' return next week. Pettis-Barboza should be a fun one. Hopefully I can catch them
