Rothwell is garbage but JDS is on an epic downswing, Overeem was in the exact same position JDS is now, he is given a shitty striker that he is supposed to beat, but he fought tentative and bad overall with a weak chin and got caught and I think JDS will do the exact same thing.

I think maybe you could've fit in more generic overstatements in the space of apparently one sentence. Actually nah that would've been kinda difficult

Pretty thin card but I guess some fun fights which is all you can ask for in fight night cards

Like JDS but prob won't bet or just be small on him. Going to be on Lewis and Cummings...though I thought Cummings would've been given a bit more generous odds against someone like Dalby

I don't think it's fair to say JDS has a weak chin yet. He's only really been knocked out once, by a shot that knocks out just about anyone in the world.

That said he's taken so much damage I wouldn't be surprised if that shot it was what cracks it.

It's definitely a favorable match up for JDS. Rothwell is a big, lumbering oaf with terrible striking defense and no wrestling game to speak of. And I don't think people will be getting caught by that choke anymore now that they're training/looking for it.

But Rothwell does have a concrete block for a head and hands and it's a 5 round HW fight.

Favor jds a little, but not a lot.

Utter trash card unless you like watching horrible hw's but hey, a lot of people do

Rothwell vs jds - pk
Lewis > gonzaga
Ngannau > blaydes
Tybura > Johnson
Blach > pokrajac
Moroz vs random - prolly moroz but no clue who random is
Dalby > Cummings - Hope the over is bettable
Taisumov > Hadzovic
Entwistle vs Perez - pk
Staziac is utter trash but dunno his opponent
Whiteford vs martins - pk
Cannonier > Asker

On the bright side with the addition of cyborg 198 looks like the deepest card in a hot minute and obv jones/Cormier and Ferguson/khabib coming up before than

Well maybe not jones vs dc because jones clearly has a mental problem. It's unreal at this point.

Drag incident would be completely w/e (still is to me and most people obviously) if not for the fact that it's a little disturbing he's still showing a ridiculous level of apathy in any of his outside the cage decision making. I would say...man...can't he just go train like crazy, which he clearly always does, then just go home and do his blow to let off steam. But I guess not so much this time around. Really kind of a shame that arguably the greatest fighter of our time is a bit of a mental midget in a few ways (not at all once in the cage...feel like his physical skills override some credit he should be receiving for how physically and mentally tough he actually is when fighting). Though honestly, I kinda like this version of Jones. Definitely infinitely better than his former, upcoming persona of being a fake humble Christian while in actuality, being a gigantic prick

Plus the fact that when you are on probation and get arrested it's supposed to be more serious regardless of the offense. I'm guessing he skates but I dunno for sure.

The thing that pisses me off is people in the media who put pressure on the UFC to give him tough love or some stupid shit when they obviously SHOULD act in their own interest.

Do you notice you tend to follow anyone at all in the media in particular in terms of opinionated stuff? I read a lot of mma headlines because usually I have no life but I've learned to just subconsciously block out almost all subjective garbage that's generally written on the major sites as I sift through the headlines. When they actually do real journalism work and go interview fighters at their camp or something, it's cool...but somehow pretty rare. I generally like Ben Fowlkes on mmajunkie. He tries hard to be funny though so maybe not everyone's cup o tea

yeah its not Overeem bad but he will go down fast if Rothwell connects, I wouldn't touch this line.

Rothwell will be at least +100 between now and fight-day. The only play I'd recommend -- as would most people -- is Rothwell at plus odds, or pass.

Aside from the ME, the fight I'm most looking forward to is Nicolas Dalby vs. Zak Cummings. Cummings is underrated by most, but he's a well-rounded fighter. It should be a close fight that goes to a decision since neither guy will KO the other guy, and Cummings most likely won't get Dalby to the mat to submit him. Dalby's distance striking and movement should be the difference here.

Since the end of last year when I blew those Cruz/Dillashaw and Pettis/Alvarez fights I've really disengaged, thank god.... but I've always thought Jordan Breen at Sherdog was the best, with Ben Fowlkes as a #2 for more light-hearted stuff, whereas Patrick Wyman who used to work for Sherdog and now works for USA Today/Bleacher Report writes by the best prediction articles... he's the only guy in the MMA Media in my opinion who actually gets the dynamics enough to make picks and points legit enough to factor into decision making.

Maybe underrating Dalby again (really liked Till against him) but Cummings is the only one on the card I'm sure I'm betting on. Speaking of well rounded, Dalby really is too but I just don't see him as really great at any one thing to make any sort of legit title run. Even his strength of distance striking like you say isn't exceptional and his power while good...same thing. Guess it doesn't mean he'll lose often to the Cummings' of the world but also like you said, Cummings is underrated...and even if his last opponent wasn't very good, definitely looked like he can show another level. He's using his bit longer than average frame a bit better too

- Oh wait oops also definitely on Lewis. But who really ever knows with a couple of mid-tier heavyweights

The suckers will be the people who spend all their money on their DraftKings team(s) for this event. I expect the winner will be a team that has $700 or more left over.

Ya I don't think I'm giving anything away in saying that Lewis is a major value but of course it's a mindfuck because gonzaga could easily get a finish as well and then your probably getting double value by going against all the smart players/the field. But then double mindfuck because a lot of people probably have the same logic and have teams with both.

Or there's the line of thinking that everyone will have 1 of the 2 so you can beat the field by playing neither and hope that it's a sloppy slow low out point boring decision fest. Who knows.

Probably best long run strategy to go just go with the best value, not overthink it like I'm doing right now, and have an edge on the fish who pick gonzaga and hope to beat the smart people somewhere else.

Alessio Di Chirico vs Bojan Velickovic is actually a decent fight. Watched a little tape and both have a chance to make a little noise IMO. Both guys are well-rounded with good gas tanks. I'll be keeping an eye on that fight. Pundits are picking Velickovic, he's favored, but I liked what I saw out of Chirico too.

Doubt any1 really cares but Pacquaio-Bradley 3 is about to be on. I wouldn't have cared or try to catch it either even tho I used to never miss a Manny fight except I feel like there's value on Bradley by decision +270. It would be a fairly major travesty for history to read Bradley 2 to Pacquaio 1 considering the robbery of a first fight but I mean, the sport of boxing in its current state has unfortunately become predominantly a travesty anyways so w/e. Go Timmay

iakim322   United States. Apr 10 2016 05:21. Posts 1335

So much for that 'value'. Ty to my natural bias in making this a mini bet. Rd 10 now and Bradley has had maybe two good moments while Manny looks back to being pretty explosive. Either fighting Floyd under boxing rules is like trying to hit an alien shadow or that shoulder injury of Manny's was very real

I watched it.

Manny looked great, considering how he looked in his two previous fights.

Sucks for Bradley.

Be a champ. I'm on the East Coast, watched Manny's fight some 6 hrs ago, woke up half hour ago at 7 a.m to make sure I wasn't a retard setting/entering DK lineups late last night, and go get a workout in before doing buncha excel busy work in front of the UFC card and then late season NBA later on. Beats NFL Sundays for me. By a mile if the UFC card was a bit better. It's just too bad the NBA has to end soon because players aren't super heroes who can play all year w/o injury.

Going to have straight bets on Cummings, Tim Johnson, and Black Beast. Maybe drop a little on Blaydes as well. Not actually confident in any but I feel like my run good from the Mark Hunt card will carry over. Or that's what I'm telling myself.

- Whiteford has the better chin, but I think he'll use his take downs in this fight, even though he's known as a striker.
- Whiteford trains with Mirsad Bektic, who is the guy who wrestled and TKO`ed Lucas Martins in his last fight.
- Martins has also been taken down a lot in the past by guys who aren't good wrestlers.
- Also, Martins still fights with his chin in the air, which is weird cuz he's been in the UFC for awhile.

Good stuff. Would like to see him tested vs a good distant striker tho...seemed like he could be vulnerable vs a disciplined technical striker. But yea he's got the goods...or most. That uppercut to finish was money. Time to move him up noticeably

Not sure why entwistle kept holding on to hopless leg locks after Perez fought off the close first two and then proceeded to punch entwistle in the face uninterrupted. Took like 9 seconds for him to realize he's being hurt and let go.

Poof 1 lineup

Entwistle ruined me, so it's whatever now...

Only live team is the main card team.

----------

Stanciu is aggressive early. Brawler style.

Moroz has boxing and BJJ advantage.

Good stuff. Would like to see him tested vs a good distant striker tho...seemed like he could be vulnerable vs a disciplined technical striker. But yea he's got the goods...or most. That uppercut to finish was money. Time to move him up noticeably

Yah Hadzovic was clipping him with the cross but to your point Hadzovic is a good distance striker. Maybe not top top notch but not at all a slouch.

I guess something like the winner of Pettis vs Barboza would be about as tough a test for Taisumov as you could ask for... that or a grinder but I think he'd wreck the Rustam Khabilov's or Michael Chiesa's of the world.

A lot of good matchups out there. Lightweight is just too deep.

iakim322   United States. Apr 10 2016 18:29. Posts 1335

Yea I guess I didn't like that hadzovic was doing a bit of work, had the range advantage established, but then negated it by closing the distance on his own doing

Caught cannonier fight that I missed. Impressive. Tho seemed to me like the ref shoulda been closer to the action as soon as the knockdown happened

Stanciu vs. Moroz wasn't a great fight, but I'll bone either one of them.

I'm not betting this card. Trying to take it easy and reset those biases. lol

Gl thO. I know you on that foo

I think Blaydes is a good bet though. Here a lot of good things about him and liked what I saw on tape. Just don't know about his chin yet because he literally hasn't been touched.

I was originally picking Blaydes to win, but I'm on Ngannou now.

The fight will be decided after the first take down attempt.

Great judging on this card, aside from the Serbian guy who I think was gifted a win due to Serbs being favored in Croatia.

^^

Blaydes definitely wasn't my final pick. He was only my original pick when I made the thread, which consists of me thinking for a minute and then just picking someone without doing any research.

After I saw the weigh-in and got more info, I picked Ngannou in my teams.

Meh. Blaydes was shittier than I thought and Ngannous TDD/ability to getup and gas tank was better than expected. Happens.

Black beast. Like fucking clockwork. Gets taken down but opponent gasses trying to put him and keep him there, then gets ktfo.

It's literally every fight he wins.

For JDS' sake, he better NOT* show up in vintage style. His old style was winging big overhand bombs without much footwork.

JDS has improved his movement and jab over the years, but still tends to get caught up in throwing big overhand punches when he starts to get tagged, as we saw in the Miocic fight.

Overeem kept moving and avoided the big overhand, and just picked at JDS until he found an opening.

JDS doesn't want to stand in front of Rothwell, or he'll get bum-rushed at some point via Rothwell's weird angled explosive attacks.

I think this fight ends in Round 2 at the soonest. Round 1 doesn't seem likely, imo, unless JDS tries to swarm Rothwell and gets taken out (which isn't JDS' style).

Betting ben was some wishful thinking. Shoulda just bet on the distance since ben is never getting knocked out and JDS on his bike this whole 5 rounds

I didn't want to see a 5-round heavyweight fight between these two, but whatever.

JDS used his movement and jab and looked good. His movement stopped Ben from successfully exploding on him against the fence, and Ben eventually ran out of energy.

Not a great card, but I didn't have high hopes.

Rothwell never managed to pin JDS to the cage I think he should have squared up and try to catch JDS when his back hits the cage, he literally runs to the side every time, he never counters but ruthwells pressure against the cage after the 1st were simply too slow probably all that body work tired him very early.

Rothwells kicks landed every time and they were hard he probably should have thrown much more of those and hopefully be able to hampers JDS movement which he was never able to tame
