Underestimating Weidman at this point is super undeserved. Give him Rockhold and if he beats him might as well wrap up this division for a year or 2 while someone improves

& DC isn't the interim champion ? JBJ is missing altogether from the rankings meaning they can fuck him up and not instantly give him the title match if/when he comes back?

I don't know if I underestimate Weidman or not, but I've always thought that 185 is a rather weak division even in Anderson's reign and I don't feel very different about it now. I look at that division as it is currently and think Weidman and Rockhold are the only world class guys.

Agreed.

Weidman and Rockhold are.still improving with each fight, too. The rest of the division is filled with aging veterans and young fighters who aren't good.

Really? You don't think Machida is world class? He could still probably top 5ish at LHW. Jacare has a pretty elite skill set. Yoel is a ridiculous athlete.

I'd agree that Weidman and Rockhold are a notch above, but I'd argue that MW's top 5 is about as good as any divisions. But yea it drops off in quality after that really quick. They lost two great fighters with Vitor coming off TRT and Silva being destroyed.

Disagree about middleweight SOOOO much. It's come so far from a few years ago. Jacare is an insanely dangerous fighter... wtf? I think he is more live vs Weidman than Rockhold only because of the styles.... he's much more dangerous from bottom and has much more power in his hands.

Silva's 'contenders' that he beat in his 'prime' - Bonner (ROFL), Sonnen twice (ROFL), Vitor (legit), Okami (ROFL), Maia (ROFL, not even a top 5 Welterweight), Forest Griffin (ROFL), Laites (ROFL, he's better now and still fringe top 10 in todays middleweight), Cote (ROFLMAO), James Irvin (ROFLMAO LMAO)... you get the point. Most overrated run in UFC history, Silva is nowhere near the GOAT. Jones, GSP, and Aldo are infinitely more impressive in their legacies, and that's ignoring the fact that Silva was juicing.

And Yoel Romero and Tim Kennedy are probably better than anyone Silva ever beat besides Vitor and Hendo (only argument really is Rich Franklin and I'm pretty sure Romero would have clobbered him). The division has gotten so much better. Never mind guys like Belfort, Machida, a better version of Leities (probably juicing), who are all still really good.

Rockhold is much closer to Jacare than he is to Weidman, everyone is trippin so hard because he raped Machida with his top game..... . Rockhold is the 2nd best MW in the world but he's not even as close to Weidman as DC is to Jones. I firmly believe that.

Rockhold's hands are B- at best, he has no power in them, his wrestling is B+/A- but he won't be able to initiate any semblance of a takedown vs Weidman because his hands are no threat and Weidman's wrestling is A++++, so his best chance will be outpointing him at distance with his very good left kicks (not sure how he's gonna land them going backwards though) or landing a sweep or switch in a grappling transition, but even if he does I doubt he can finish the Chris from on top, it would probably just win him a round and make the fight more exciting because his one true edge is probably cardio and that would take a lot of energy out of Weidman (presumably, since he's never had to play from guard). In the clinch Weidman wins, in the pocket Weidman wins big time, on the ground Weidman will most likely be on top so he wins there too. Odds on the fight are probably gonna be really close which excites me greatly.

I agree that after the Top 5 MW drops off big time, but it's much better than LHW, HW, Bantam, and Fly. Best division is lightweight, followed by a tie between featherweight and welterweight. Welterweight is deeper but FW top 5 is infinitely better (Aldo, Mendes, Edgar, and possibly McGregor are all better P4P fighters than anyone in the Welterweight division).

HEy Puerto, thanks for explaining, I didn't get it first time I read, and just got confused and gave up after a few minutes. But came back and tried a little harder lol.

I don't really have to much to add in these threads, since I don't do the betting thing, and it's hard to guess who'll win when I don't follow the scene in depth, would just be wild guesses, to many variables for me to get a grasp on lol. But I can at least give some cool links n gifs since I Reddit an awful lot lol.

Going through the rankings right now FW and LW are so fucking stacked. Jose Aldo is unreal to do what he has done in that division of killers. Hopefully he pulls out the win against McGregor and gets the credit he deserves. He also spoke out against the Reebok deal as as far as I know the only champion to do so. The guy is just an all around badass and closing in on the GOAT title as well as being one of my favorite fighters of all time. Anyway WW and LHW have a great top 4 and are probably ahead of the rest of the weight classes with that (so excluding FW/LW). I just don't think Machida/Romero/Mousasi are at that world class level Machida is now 37 and hasn't shown a new move in five years. Amazing guy with a great legacy but in his weight class I don't think he has at a level of a Condit/MacDonald/Hendricks/Gustafsson/Rockhold/Mendes/Edgar/McGregor have in theirs at all. I haven't had appreciation for LHW ever since Pride shut down, but I think with the guys there now it's doing well again.
