<img src="http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Pindarots/09/philivey.jpg" align="right" style="margin:5px; border:1px solid black;">“I think I can win 30 gold bracelets.” That quote by Phil Ivey dates from 2005, but the man has said it again after claiming his 8th golden bracelet, and who would disagree with him? Considered by many the best poker player in the world, Ivey topped a stellar field in the $3,000 H.O.R.S.E. event and won his first WSOP event this year, earning $329,840 in prize money.

Five of the eight finalists were former gold bracelet winners, including Bill Chen, John Juanda, Ken Aldridge, and Jeffrey Lisandro, who was attempting to win his 4th bracelet since 2009. Appropriately, the bracelet winners finished in 1-2-3-4-5, with the non-winners finishing in 6-7-8.

With this win, Phil Ivey becomes the youngest man to win 8 WSOP bracelets. He is now tied with poker pro Erik Sidel in 5th place on the list of biggest bracelet winners. Only Phil Hellmuth, Johnny Chan, Doyle Brunson and Johnny Moss have won more WSOP events than Ivey.

This victory also makes Ivey win the famous bet he set up with Howard Lederer last year. According to rumors, Ivey offered 1:1 odds in a $5 million bet that he would win at least two bracelets in 3 WSOP years. The bet between Lederer and Ivey was made after the latter won the first of two bracelets he would win in last year's edition. As Ivey won a second bracelet, he only needed to win one more, which happened this year, one year prior to the deadline.

Phil Ivey is still just 33 years old, so we are likely to see him winning many more bracelets until the day he decides to step away from poker.

i disagree. Winning a MTT is way harder than winning at cash games. Hellmuth is still the best by far.

Winning an MTT is harder than winning at cash games because on a MTT you need a lot of luck.

You need more skill than luck to be a winner on a cash table.

Besides i wasnt talking about results i was talking about the fact that PH is a complete douchebag and Ivey isnt. Thats why people talk about Ivey and dont give a shit about PH.

actually its the same reason no1 talks about johnny chan, he hasn't done anything recently. These guys won a ton of tournieys when the Main even feild was 150 players. It's literary 1000% harder to win a tourney today simply due to the overwhelming volume of people (which is a good thing BTW)

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us and as we let our own lights shine we unconsciously give other people permision to do the same
