PokerStars reduces multi-tabling, limits the number of tables to maximum 6 played

PokerStars will not allow a single user to sit at more than six tables simoultaneously - those changes will be tested on Italian market soon and are most likely to follow on global market.


Many pro players sit at several tables at the same time and the number often goes to 8, 10 or 12. PokerStars plans to limit that to just 6. The idea will be tested on the Italian market starting from July 17th, that is today.

All that aims to make cash games faster as PS claims, but this is disputable reason because pros sitting at a few tables make decisions at the same speed as other players. Only when they face a difficult decision, they slow down, forcing others to wait. The more tables, the more such decisions we have. Supposedly of all the complaints made by recreational players these are the most common.

– I understand that modifications like that will not make regulars happy. We know this is radical, but we also believe best players will focus more on fewer tables and win more there, thus allowing us to increase the pace of their game. Bigger wins can be achieved by getting more involved in pots and bringing more action to the table – says PokerStars poker initiatives director, Severin Rasset.

Changes will apply only to regular cash tables – Zoom, MTTs and other forms of poker will remain the same. If changes are accepted in Italy they will be implemented to the soft worldwide. So far no one knows the date though.

Interestingly, according to PokerStars only 0,3% players sit to more than 6 cash tables. Thus changes will impact very few players. The problem is that they play a lot and are regular visitors the PS client.

Italy will be another country, after France and Spain where “Seat Me” script will be introduced as well. You won't be able to chose the table, just limits you want to play at. One can expect that till the end of this year “Seat Me” will be introduced everywhere. How do you like the changes proposed by the poker room with a star in the logo?

6 Seems kind of low. They could make it like 10-12. They could also just track how long people take on average, and just lower the slow peoples table limits. Why punish the guy that can play 16 tables without slowing the action down?

This has nothing to do with delays at the table lol, that's just PR

At this point i just feel bad for people that stuck @ playing in PS. Unless its 500z to improve skills
