Dan "Jungleman11" Cates talks about resuming Durrrrs Challenge

Well, we are not joking and it's not 1st of April either. The topic of “Durrrr Challenge” has hit the public yet again after Daniel “jungleman12” Cates revealed on Twitter that the challenge could actually resume this year.

Topic came back after Doug “WCGRider” Polk commented on his Twitter that he thinks Tom “durrrr” Dwan’s challenge against Cates has to be “one of the most massive scams in poker history”.

Cates reacted quickly, responding to Polk’s Tweet with information that he talked with Dwan regarding the entire siutation and believes it can still be resolved somehow or even finished. The conversation between two continued as Polk commented the time it's taking is unreasonably long and shows disrespect towards players. Cates calms everybody down saying that Tom Dwan cooperates but he has had some problems so that is why the challenge was postponed till affairs are finally resolved.

The challenge started years ago, back in 2010 and the two players have still over 30,000 hands to play before we finally know the winner.
Cates is leading by $1,251,059 and according to the original terms of the challenge, Dwan would have to pay $1,5 million extra bonus if his opponent is up $1 or more after the 50,000 hands have been completed.

Resume? that will never happen tom is drawing dead. lol he either pays or scams. Playing is off the table for him now

There s actually a chance this might happen. Wasn't there some rumour that Dwan might become the face of a new asian site? Would be a good marketing strategy + he would be freerolling most likely, but thats the only way i see it happening

after dwan and co. winning millions from jungle at 6+ holdem, yes now the challenge will resume.

i don't really understand why people would think there's a bad relationship between Cates and Dwan. Cates is up over a mil vs. Dwan, and it wasn't like they played with playmoney and he wasn't paid for the hands he won, right? So, he's up over a mil vs. Dwan, and he practically proved that he was better. It was Dwan that ran in shame, which gave even more glory to Cates.

He may be missing another mil (and possibly more, if more hands are to be played) which is awful but, idk, hard to imagine he'd very super crazy upset in the position he's at. What's he got to lose by talking to Dwan at this point anyway.

Jungle escrowed $500k to Ivey before the match, don't know if he ever got that back since the challenge is still on "hold"

Wasn't this challenge a FTP promotion challenge? Durrr was probably compensated somehow for playing on their site. Now that FTP is gone, it DOES change things imo. Educate me.

How times have changed. Nowadays "escrowing" anything to Phil Ivey is a terrible idea lol
