headtheball is 17/16/58AFq and has a 13% 3bet, 14% from the blinds. He goes to SD 16% of time time. Sample over 293 hands. He cbets 71% of the time.

I am running 30/26/63Afq with only 5% 3bet, 7% 4bet, and I fold to 3bets 92% of the time. Att to steal is 61%. These stats are only over the current session I'm playing which is 214 hands. I probably am a tiny bit LESS aggressive in his HUD but the %'s will be very close.

Thoughts on raising flop vs flatting? Preflop isn't too terrible? And obviously call if he reshoves over our raise?

flatting is better... he has 3 bet you so his range already crushes you.

if he has air he will likely give up on the turn. if he has a good pair he'll just jam on you.
by flatting you get to possibly take it away on the turn and you also get more information on his hand.

i'd also pitch this hand preflop but maybe call with something like 87s+ and 77+ just because they will have more equity and are better playable post flop than 54s.

The only hands a nit balances in his range are the nuts, the second nuts, and the third nuts.

i play FR so take it for what its worth.

I don't like calling SC's against 3bet pf unless we are 125+ bb deep in position, i have a read that he fold after pf raise, or i see his 3bet is high from the blinds in which case i'll occassionally 4bet bluff.

as played, i think the raise is fine to try to take it down (open end/backdoor fd), just fold to any aggression if you dont hit since essentially your getting 2 free cards.

also the 9 is a gay card to have on the flop because if you hit the high straight you don't get very much value/he could easily have TT here.

edit: oops i thought you were on BTN. mah bad.

If she touches you 60% of the time, and is aggressive with her tits, you have it get it in before she crushes your nuts on the turnLast edit: 28/09/2010 04:59

Ok that makes sense. I guess I didn't think about my range in his eyes too much.

I guess in his eyes I am not flatting too much and usually 4betting value hands instead. So on this flop, it's kind of hard for me to have anything, even sets?

I guess I felt like his range is so wide (or polarized? not really sure yet for him) that I would rather raise to take it down than miss the turn and river flatting... but then like you said, he can't really fold an overpair here, or a set and all I fold is air.

So if he checks turn to me after I flat but I miss, I should still bet like 1/2, 2/3 pot to try and steal it?

3bet sample size from the blinds is 9 out of 63... so O_O. Not really as big as I thought? What's a good number for this kind of stat? Surely it's a tiny bit telling?

But yeah I am also in MP..

its a bit telling yea, but youve got to realize that plus/minus a few 3bets is going to change that % a lot at the moment. so right now i would just look at that number and say ok its possible he 3bets a decent amount. i wouldnt start defending with 54s though.
