or c/c turn b/f river
doesn't realy matter that much and depends on how often you think villain will be bluffing or floating you but in general i'd only bet another street for value myself.

The only hands a nit balances in his range are the nuts, the second nuts, and the third nuts.

i seriously dont understand how we cant bet for three streets of value?

i would never slow down here unless he raised me, in which time i would refer to my history/stats.

i check.

since i'm c-betting those flops almost 100% of the time, i ought to be checking a lot of turns (and giving up). gotta balance it with my good hands too. if he has a Q i'll lose the minimum, if he's floating i'm winning at least another bet from him, if he has a smaller pair he's going to protect it by betting.

a decent player will not pay off 2 more streets with a worse made hand than ours so i prefer playing deceptive than being over-optimistic and aggro

fuck I should just sell some of my Pokemon cards, if no one stakes that is what I will have to do - lostaccountLast edit: 24/04/2010 15:01

Thanks Loco. I did check with a similar set of thoughts behind it (though less robust, didn't consider that checking balances my range on the turn). Say he bets and I call, river bricks low, do we call again on the river? Or do we lead-fold. I guess lead-fold seems cool because he may still call a small bet with his various pairs.. and its unlikely he is going to bet river with those random pairs and I'm probably getting valuetowned when I x/call river?

btw caleb I used to have the same exact thoughts but I've been told that I'm being too optimistic on getting value for 3 streets like that.

i think it's very read dependent, timing tells and player reads are of utmost importance in making a decision vs the river bet.. nothing standard about it in my mind. i'm personally never leading though, it's just not part of my game and i can't balance that type of thing so i don't do it unless i see an opening making it extremely profitable in a vacuum, which i don't think this spot is. the problem with the small bet is that he should be able to see through it fairly easily and just jam. if you're leading small you kinda have to call a raise which may be bad if the guy is just playing his cards. but yeah i expect people to be pretty passive on at least one of those streets if they don't have a Q.
