here i was debating whether or not to bet the river
finally decided that he didn't have a T

maybe it was bad play... since he probably would fold if he had anything less than straight

I would most likely say that his flop call and turn call said to me QcXc so he called with top pair initially, got his backdoor draw then missed it

I will grind you into dust.

i cant figure what your opponent has, but as far as the river is concerned, that's a good bet if your opponent will call with less than the nuts, but if hes tight, try to show your hand down and dont risk a check-raise.

well, assuming he has a Q and he called a raise in first position, that can only mean AcQc, any other hand is just too weak. and if he did have TPTK on the flop, why wouldnt he check-raise or bet out with it? check-calling is just too weak of a play. i believe its something more along the lines of Ac5c, or maybe...

after looking at this it must be 78. double belly buster straight draw on the flop, check calls all the way to the river. it must be 78.

78 he MUST HAVE HAD 78, most likely of clubs to call that bet on the turn.

well it does make sense if you combine the probability described by ton and myself,tp on the flop tp+ fd on the turn, river misses he folds

I will grind you into dust.

Check/calling is a sure sign of fishing. You are right in thinking that he would fold anyways and checking would be advised to avoid an unlikely but disasterous raise. I would have put him on A-Qsuited from the way he played it but it is the quiet calling guys you have to watch out for ><

edited: perhaps he had a read on you and was playing his out but most likely just a fish that was pwned.

I have learned from poker that being at the table is not a grind, the grind is living and poker is how I pass the timeLast edit: 15/12/2005 22:43

the only hand that even remotely makes sense is 7c8c. you can take that to the bank.

think about how HUGE this pot was. 300$ by the river. if opponent paired his Q, he should at least CALL the 120$ bet on the river. opponent didnt pair, only other option can be 7c8c.

i'm starting to think AcQc... i don't see how he would call the flop with 8c7c with only a gutshot when i'm betting like 2/3 of the pot

tontonba   . Dec 16 2005 13:21. Posts 1281

wahaha, this is why you would have lost a LOT of mone if a 6 fell rather than a 10. he didnt have a gut shot, he had a double belly buster. 6 OR a 10 would give him a straight with 78.

tsk tsk tsk, fira. tsk... tsk...
