You may want to invest in a check book, I remember something similar happened to you about a year ago.

i have no way of getting a checkbook since i've been outside the US in forever and you usually can't cash checks anyway unless you have a bank account and i can't get a bank account in the country so i'd have to sign a check to someone and then if their bank accepts a foreign check (unlikely i think but not sure) then i have to wait for them to process it then i need my friend to cash out the money. Also we are at the mercy of his/her bank's exchange rates.

The problem is simply that the banks price fix and maintain monopolies with banking licenses. That's why they dont' get in trouble for all the criminal and fucked up shit they do and monopolies are notorious for shitty service in every industry.

anyone who travels as much as I do will have banking problems all the time. That's just one of the shitty parts of traveling.
