i'm pretty sure that by nature i'm a pretty leaky player. what i mean by this is, if i were sitting 500x all the time, everything that i do would be perfect, but sitting 100x effective my tendency is to want to play far more often than is mathematically correct.
a better way of putting it would be that i seek out confrontation in all forms at the table constantly, because i like poker and i like the socially acceptable form of fucking with people that is pokar.
this is not a bad thing. the problem is that when i start to add tables, the counterbalancing mechanisms that i use to keep myself in check and to play more mathematically correct than is in my instinctive game mode start to break down. over time, this leads to significant leaks.
now, it's fine that i'm physically able to handle 15+ tables and play 10k+ hands in a day whenever i feel like it. there are certainly circumstances in which these skills become useful. last month for instance, i faced imminent bankroll death and this was the best way out, so i did it. it's no big deal.
if i want to continue to build upon what i've learned lately i think that it would be best if i continue to 4 table, stay aware of what i'm doing at all times and why, and try to maintain an aggressive mindframe in terms of taking shots and minimizing my general expenses, with the goal of accelerating my stakes progress as rapidly as possible while also inhibiting general leak formation; alextexe1ra and wcgrider and that other guy showed me alot and i want to build off of what i learned, not regress and have to plug leaks for the sake of playing alot of tables just because i can as i go nowhere fast.

I'd say this is fine, but only if you are doing it for the right reasons. It might be a pretty big leak if you are targeting people because of past hands or bad beats, instead of their play style and skill level. |

sounds like a bunch of pretty words for massive fancy play syndrome.
you'd prob play ABC better than 90% of the bad regulars anyway. might as well get paid first then hit up NL2k 100 bb min 200 bb max and start raping souls then. till then you should just get paid yo. cuz getting paid is never bad! |

naw, it's more like this:
after the experiences of the past 2 months or so i really opened my game up and saw that there was no line, no technique that i didn't have at my disposal.
i didn't know how to dial it back tho, and learning how to do it nearly cost me my roll.
having learned how to dial it back, i wanted to see how many tables i could handle, basically out of necessity to win right the fuck now.
the answer was alot, but then i found out that i couldn't do it and maintain form.
i evaded bankroll death. time passed. i felt that i was leaking because no amount of runbad should cause me to basically run at 0EV at fucking nl2 for 40k hands. i knew this because it wasn't too long ago that i was demolishing it while similarly having nothing all the time.
while looking to see what leaks i had developed, i saw that i'd pretty much had them for the past year or so and that all that offense was just covering for them - even when dysthemic and hating life like i was last year i could still find a way to win the pot if i wanted to.
i do alot of things really well at the table, but doing things like calling too many 3bets ip or overdefending were leading to alot of tiny individual losses in hands which i can see now tended to pile up at a very high rate. it served to degrade my winrate into what it's become. that's alot of fucking leak. i can remember playing like 18/14 and winning 130 buyins in a month at nl1 by just mostly playing my hand and taking the pot away from guys when a clearly good opportunity presented itself. that's really tactically primitive.
the idea now is to remove the leaks and to be confident that the player that i am is enough and that it will be until it isn't, at which time i'll learn something new. |
