Well I've sent money to durrrr and viffer to contribute for their initiative of buying gifts for poor kids in vegas.
So I figured It'd be a good idea to actually copy them and do the same here in Quebec, I've got a few friends willing to come along with me, I'll put a few Ks myself, We're going to go to Wal-Mart or whatever to buy toys and food to donate to people in need for christmas.
I'll take any donation from 5 to 5000 bucks.

I'm planning on going to shop on friday. There's a shopping mall close that we can take these christmas balls and there's a name+gift the kid wants in each of them... gonna be more work but shud be fun  Also this organization called "Société St-Vincent-de-Paul" where they gather food and toys for kids...

i think its jsut better to donate money to some organization that already does this since they get a price discount but buying stuff and giving it to the kids makes it so much sweeter. i think you should just find a local organization and ask if they can help you set something up |

yeah I'm exactly going to do that, my dad also gather money where he works for food to donate... They usually aim on getting about 5k, so I'd prob give him 1k myself to help em out, and I'll call some organization I checked out online tomorow that are also taking food/toys and so on. |

I think if you but for a few Ks, it wont be a problem to get a discount. Plus, the satisfaction you get from doing it yourself will be far greater.
Got confused. Are you buying it yourself or collecting to give to an organisation? |

Got it. And you're right, its not very convenient to knock on the doors yourself. Just sent 5.5 to OMGDTDROP. Not much, but maybe more people could follow my example?

It may be more work for you to do it yourself, but I think it would be more gratifying. A lot of the time a good portion of the money that you donate is lost in the mix when you give it to organizations, no matter how reliable they are. Either way this is a really nice gesture. It would nice to see a trend like this run through the poker community. Not only would it give us a better name, but we are degenerates and their are people that need the money or whatever it is more than us. |
