-15bi's, 10bi's under expectation. Believe it or not I was so soulcrushed earlier today that I was ranting @ Panorama about seriously just cold turkey quitting the game - even though my brain understands that a 15k hand sample is literally nothing and doesn't mean anything.... (except for the very real possibility that I plain suck)

I was definitely playing pretty bad @ the beginning (albeit also running megabad), but of late I'm honestly confused what is going on.

I'm not sure whether I'm playing well or poorly; the fact that I've "learned" to c/f certain rivers depending on villain action "should" be +EV decisions, yet the fact that I have no confirmation of this just messes with my mind. The nonstop coolers, suckouts, setups, and ESPECIALLY villains hitting draws (or 2p, trips, etc) when I manage the pot based on what I believe to be their range is making me doubt my ingame decisions right now.

I wish I knew whether or not I'm actually playing well, that's really all I ask at this point. Worse is the fact that I 4-8 table (actually recommitted to playing only 4 now), so volume is low, variance is high, and it causes even more confusion over the reliability of my percieved results thus far. And when I tilt-increase my tablecount, robot mode ensues and ofc it's a disaster b/c Uptown-robot is a spewtardcallingstation catastrophe lol.

Conveniently I'm off of a 1 week vacation so hopefully clearing my head off in some remote island will help when I get back.

Cheers LP, run 10000x better than me plz X__X

Running bad tends to make you play bad out of frustration. Your A game will magically come back when your luck does.

idk if it helps u at any way and usually i dont like those whine things but i've already played 50k hands in august (i 9table so like 8h everyday) and i was up 18bi within like 5days and standard 4bi under EV etc but now i am at like 7-8bi for month and down 19 bi @ EV.

Just keep your head cool and grind it out when you are back, that is what i hope to do

also try to look for spots where you might spew due to swinging and maybe cut the small losses for bigger profit when u run good

redsnuff: bets all in with bad preflop hand and tell me to learn poker redsnuff: sencelessLast edit: 08/08/2009 11:38

Well as a typical Tagfish with downward sloping redline you rely on cards, and when they don't come they simply don't, it doesn't mean you play bad.

However, you could join us monkeys with positive red lines - you will know you played badly right away like I do :o

Thanks for comments~

Well I actually had a positive redline but it's reversed polarity as a result of me pulling back my bluffspew (I was shoving in my stack alllll the time). I could go back to playing like 28/25/10 but not sure I'm comfortable with it especially when my confidence is low while running bad .

I guess I could "go back" to nl25 stars for a bit and play like a spewmonkey for a few K hands and see how that goes lol.

edit: actually, come to think of it I probably don't really know the "proper" spots to be pot pot shoving on particular flop textures and board runouts hmmmm.

ugh w/e if I can't win playing "standard" then I'm not even going to try playing proper lag (30+vpip)

I dunno, I play around 22/19/3.5 and the red line is around 0 to positive when I 4table and even with 19/17 I keep it at least around 0.

Although I have to admit that I can't even remember when I simply folded to a reg's cbet -.-

And obviously I can't control myself not to spew in large pots as you said, but I think if you can handle it and can be very controlled your red line doesn't have to be so much downward sloping (Although if you can play aggressively with marginal spots AND not spew you wouldn't bother with lowstakes -,-)

yea I actually just realized that preflop stats are totally irrelevant to what we're talking about, b/c it's all about postflop tightroping textures and villain ranges and tendencies on turn cards, etcetc.

I actually play very similar to you preflop atm due to relentless limper isolation (my iso range actually might be toooo wide but w/e, I think it's far better than increasing my open range from EP / MP with low scs, mid suited gappers and being totally buttraped oop like I was when playing looser)

But god, I spewed sooo hard when shit fell apart when I pushed edges postflop and went mad aggro. It's great when everything clicks (ie the madly + redline) but so demoralizing when you lose your stack with air

who cares about red line. adjust to your opponents in the right way. why would you try to adjust your play based on some line in a graph instead?

Ask someone who you think is a good player to do a sweat session with you to see whether you are playing well and still losing or otherwise. I am not in any position to give poker advice but it makes sense to have a good player watch you play so that your doubts about your ability to play poker goes away in case you are running bad, getting sucked out, coolers,etc...

I think the redline is indicative of the fact hat I am in fact not adjusting properly haha~
