so i'm pretty bad with computers but I need some help. I have this laptop and I reformatted it without backing up any of the drivers. I reformatted using windows XP. In the system summary -> system information it shows a list of "problem devices" with the error code being "The drivers for this device are not installed"
they are
Ethernet Controller
Multimedia Audio Controller
PCI Device
PCI Modem
USB Controller
Video Controller
(although the usb ports worked when i plugged in my mx518)
I think that if i can somehow connect to the internet it will auto install the missing drivers although the drivers for the modem/internet card or w/e aren't there so that isn't working.
I could use a flash drive i think but i don't know exactly what hardware this computer has inside so I don't know what drivers to dl.
Suggestions?
Do I have to bring it to a specialist to fix it?

On the cd which you got with the laptop there's drivers for all those components, install them from that cd and everything should be fine. If you connect to the internet it doesn't automatically install them, you still need to install them manually. |

What you should first do is get access to another pc and google or find the product website for your laptops model # and download the ethernet controller which should be listed as network interface card on the website. Either burn that to a cd or a usb key and just install the driver. You can install other drivers once you get internet access from your laptop. |

Download and run aida32 to know exactly what brand and models are your motherboard, graphic card and all peripherals
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/AIDA.shtml
Then go the manufacturers' websites and download the drivers, install one then reboot and repeat until there is no more question mark in your windows device panel.
????
Profit. |

aight so i downloaded aida but i don't know where it tells me about my network/wireless card / modem or whatever the fuck it is in here. All i know about this computer is it is a dell inspiron 6000 piece of shit but i just need it to run internet explorer and FTP and PT dont care about anything else.
I downloaded the only chipset drivers for this model from the dell site but they wont install b/c it says it needs a fucking usbehci.sys file to continue. When i google this file i get an unreal amount of trash ppl trying to charge me for the file - viruses and shit pretty unreal.
like my comp seems to be working so i dont even know if i need that chipset driver (but i'm told thats the motherboard driver so ... ?? )
the dell site lists like 10 different wireless network card drivers and i don't know which one to install
I feel retarded plz help |
