Hey guys,

Since my spiritual journey began (read my last blog entry to understand), I started practicing Yoga. It is something I really love to do, and so I want to start teaching it in a year or so. I'm very dedicated to it as it is an essencial part of my spiritual development. I also reactivated my instagram account and so I'm starting to make yoga related posts there. You can find me there @arthuraml.

https://www.instagram.com/arthuraml/

I'm gonna try to grow this instagram account in the next year or so. Also, if any of you would like to reach out to me to ask me anything about my journey or related to spirituality or life in general, I'm here for it.

All the best to all of you.

After being on a spiritual journey towards "waking up", have you become to understand that spiritual practices like meditation are nothing like what people in the west think they are? For example, meditation has been touted as a great relaxation tool, that everyone should do! Not! Meditation is a tool that was created towards awakening consciousness, and has nothing to do with just "trying to reduce stress" and all that bullshit.

If you can tell, I am pretty pissed off about all the books I read about mindfullness meditation, and how none of them were upfront and truthful about the negative and perilous side of meditation and trying to awaken spiritualy. I started meditating in 2010, and developed severe depersonalization/dissociation after doing it for 2 years. I quit after 2 years because I finally realized how fucked up my mind was, but I didn't know what I was dealing with and had no idea what depersonalization/dissociation was, and if anybody else had it, because I had never heard of it before. I thought I just had mild depression or something like that. I just got done discussing my life with an experienced meditator and he said that to overcome meditation induced depersonalization I would need to quit meditation of all forms, and go to a specific kind of western psychology therapy to integrate myself again.

There are articles titled "The Dark Side of the Dharma" that explore why the adverse affects of meditation are unreported and ignored in the west. Its fucking nuts. On the meditation path growing towards enlightenment, there are many stages that one needs to pass through. One of them is referred to as "the dark night of the soul" by people here in the west, I forgot what it was referred to by buddhists, maybe jhanas? Anyway, it is quite common for a meditator to experience feelings of suicide when entering into these states that are actually improving themselves on the way towards higher consciousness. Pretty fucking shitty if you ask me.

The site for learning about this stuff is mctb.org and it stands for mastering the core teachings of the buddha.

Anyway, the spiritual journey can be dangerous and extremely unpleasant, and can change everything about your world. Do you want that? Are you ready for that? Also, don't practice without a fucking teacher/mentor, you could end up in a bad place and not have any idea what happened. If you haven't had any extremely unpleasant states of mind come up during your journey, then you are either not doing it right, or just extremely fucking lucky.

/rant

Edit - also this is not an attack on you Tutz, I just hope somebody reads this that needs to. The demographic that poker players occupy is highly interested in meditation, but us in the west usually have teachers that aren't qualified.

Hey man, I'm sorry to hear that. It's not the first time I've read something about what you are describing.

Since my spiritual journey began, I dropped everything from my old life and it has been the greatest blessing. I don't think I'm trained enough or have enough experience to help you with what you are dealing with... My superficial perspective is that when people try to meditate without first racionally understanding what it is that they are doing, they might face problems. The truth of the world we live in is that we are all divine beings, and meditation is the tool that allows one to access that truth. Not mentally, but in experience. But, if your mind can't make sense of what is happening to you soul, my guess is that the mind will resist a lot. That is just my superficial guess, as I never went through any of that. When I read the book 'A New World', my mind was pretty clear and set that what I was reading was the truth. I had no doubt about it. My emotions also reassured me this was the path. So when meditation came, it just flowed. This was my own experience and I'm sorry if you can't identify with that. I remember you sent me an e-mail months ago but I didn't answer you because I knew I couldn't help you and I would not pretend I could. I'm no master, just a devotee.

Well I understand. But if one is teaching the truth, and not just wanting to enrich himself, I see no problem.

I recommend you download an app called "Down Dog". It's great if you want to start practicing at home, at your own pace.
My practice is mainly focused on Ashtanga Yoga, so I recommend that! It's a more vigorous form of Yoga and I think it suits better the personality of poker players, since it is more of a challenge and has amazing results for body and soul.

In 2015 I worked for the Brazilian Mission to the UN representing Brazil in the Human Rights Council, in Geneva.
In 2016 I worked at the Statistics Division of the Economic and Social Comission for Asia Pacific, in Bangkok.

Good times.

" I never went through any of that. When I read the book 'A New World', my mind was pretty clear and set that what I was reading was the truth."

You're not going to be teaching the truth though, according to your own words here. You've admitted that you are taking all of this New Age Oprah book club Tolle stuff on faith already. When you say that when you read it you realized the truth that you were "divine", you were admitting that you are being dogmatic and that you have no real interest in a spiritual life, which always involves doubt and exploration. Your supposed spiritual journey is already over since you claim to know "the truth".

You are one of the many millions of people who have been seduced into abandoning the search for truth in favor of the comfortable wishful thinking of New Age pseudo-religious dogma. You'll be lucky if you get out of it without hurting people including yourself. Like I said in your previous blog, I have read Eckhart Tolle and been around so many people like you who found his books at a time in their life where they were desperate for meaning, and I can't tell you how badly they have all turned out. Just miserable, thoughtless, selfish people who continually delude themselves into thinking they are more "spiritual" than others despite having nothing to show for their supposed progress and not being able to pass a basic sniff test when it comes to the coherency of their beliefs.

The latter applies to you as well. In your previous blog post you were defending/promoting scam artists who prey on the vulnerable by pretending to have magical powers in order to enrich themselves. There is nothing divine about that:

How is it that the people who are "teaching the truth" according to you are always such great profiteers? This delusional scammer doesn't even have to risk his scam with people in person now, he gets to rely on the convenience of the internet.

Was Ramana Maharshi asking for money when people came to talk to him? Would he have Skyped with Westerners for a fee? Why is this guy you claimed is "telling the truth," but not Maharshi? Maharshi never talked about spirits from another life contacting human beings, yet he is one of the teachers who influenced your favorite guru Tolle. How do you explain this inconsistency?

I already have a job that I like. I just want to be a yoga teacher on the side, and hopefully it will grow from there

Hey Loco,

It's a little frustrating reading you talking about how you think you know what I've been going through. I will not try to convince you of my reality, because it's simply imposible for a person that lives only through the normal 5 senses to even grasp what it is. I've explored others dimensions of life, and you haven't. I say this with no ego, I'm not better than you. Everyone will eventually get there, if/when they seek.

I will answer some of what you said though, but I will not feed your rational mind. As long as you try to understand this world only with your thoughts, I'll never get anywhere.

Some people are born in this world with gifts. Some can talk to the dead, some can see, hear. Some rare beings are born enlightened. Others just have special talents. Others are here to suffer all their lives. This is all entangled in the karmic net, and each person has its own.

The medium of the video you posted above was just born with one simple gift. It's not even a big deal. At this point in my life talking to the other side has become something so trivial that I'm not even impressed anymore, as I used to be when I posted that video. Some people decide to charge money for it, and if what they are doing is of service to others and to the world, that's ok. If within themselves they act in truth, it's always ok. It's possible that one decides to fool people, and if that's the case it's their karma. They will have to suffer the consequences of that one way or the other.

Gurus and sages usually avoid talking about talking to the dead or even anything that an average person can't access with their 5 senses simply because knowing about it does not help in the spiritual development. For instance, nobody is going to be more spiritual just because they believe in what I say. It's something one has to experience through meditation or other forms of sadhana. Since the job of the guru if to awaken you, it is of little use to be talking about beings of other dimension when you can barely live well in this one.

All great sages of history know and have been in contact with other dimensions. That's something so trivial to them. Just because you didn't find a writting of them explaining what they saw on the other side doesn't mean it's not true. It's just that they know they have more important things to say. The other dimensions will naturally open for those who seek the right path.

Here is a rare video of a modern day guru talking about beings of other dimensions. See how careful he is with the amount of details he gives.

So you can also talk to the dead then?

You know what would be really divine of you right now? To get in touch with James Randi and take his million dollar challenge. We can also agree here on liquid poker to add more money to the prize pool.

Can you imagine how much good you could do with over a million dollars? You could save so many other beings - all divine and deserving of life just like you. Will you do it?

I cant summon beings from other dimensions of existence at will. They appear to me when it's necessary. Even if I could, I would never take any money for it. It's not why my gift was given. I must make use of it only for the specific purpose of advancing my spiritual development, or I would lose everything I worked hard to gain in an instant. It's not the same for everyone. Actually, it's never the same for anyone.

Sadhguru can explain better than me:
