So, I have read "The Kingdom Of God Is Within Us" by Leo Tolstoy and re-read "The Gospels In Brief" by Leo Tolstoy and am in the kind of mood that the teachings of Jesus Christ may have "saved my life." I am not convinced though. I also feel like if I really learned systems thinking that might "save my life" too. It's this dichotomy of the spiritual and the scientific that has been a strong portion of my life ever since getting sober and changing my life. I want to fight the spiritual. I don't want to fight giving up the fleshly flesh and letting the Spirit flow and to basically love thy neighbor, love everyone and do good. The fleshly flesh as in the worldly the bodily pleasures. When Christ prays 2 times to God before he will be taken to be flogged, tortured, and left to die on the cross and finally prays a 3rd time "Father, let Thy will be done" I wish I could have that strength and lack of fear in death. I still don't understand fully why Jesus couldn't continue teaching somewhere else. I guess that makes for a worse story. Then after all the floggings and the torture and Jesus at his weakest point calls out "God, why hath you forsaken me!?" He is in the same position as all of us. If Jesus would have just learned some systems thinking and spread that message....

We are all God's children with the capacity to hold the Spirit within us and to be within the Spirit. Yet what kind of god would have created the world we currently live in? What kind of god would have created neoliberal capitalism? "Resist not evil" doesn't really get us too far or does it?

A friend of mine always says what kind of god would let children starve in Africa and allow bugs to eat their eyeballs? It's a fair point. I guess Christianity's point would be that they get into heaven at least. That's kind of fucked up. 5 years of starving and bugs eating your eyeballs but hey then it's eternal bliss. That would be one fucked up god.

I suppose I take what I've learned with me and keep moving. As much as I love Christ and I am not going to turn my back on Christ the Stoics and systems thinking is a key to the mystery of life. Christ is such a fucking baller though. The revolution is in kindness but I am not sure we overcome the systems with just kindness. I could be wrong though. If everyone stopped paying taxes and boycotted shitty corporations in the name of Christianity what could they do? That seems like a pipe dream though.

Another thing I never understood is the policy of "not being with women" before marriage yet how is one supposed to find someone suitable for marriage if one is basically supposed to avoid women before marriage?

I don't know I just have to keep reading stuff.

Its kind of obvious all the neoliberals are part of the Illuminati, which we all know are infidel reptiles

No, they are just rich, greedy in many cases probably front as Christians. There is nothing Christ-like about neoliberal capitalism.

I wonder how many Christians are on this site? Can't be many.

I am just trying to figure some stuff out. I am moved by the gospels in brief by Tolstoy and the life of Jesus Christ. This idea that Our Father always has our best interests in mind is harder to believe. I mean in reality it's a really complicated subject. We don't really know shit. It would be nice if there was a Spirit that I could pray to and everything would be ok. My mind has a hard time believing that. So, if that is not truth then what's the point in the commandments? Then we get into ethics. Then we get back to Stoic philosophy. We are human after all. Human all too human. God, why hath thou forsaken me?....

God is dead and we killed him.... I am like malfunctioning a bit here. Doop doop doop robot robot robot clink clank clunk.

It's all written by a human hand. What does that mean?

Humans are not infallible. I want to worry about the future so bad and just sit in it but then again I don't. I think a lot of this stems from the fact that I am working by myself tomorrow night and am likely going to get absolutely slammed. It will surely be a bit miserable but why am I worried about the future. I will use the same reason I use today. This is where I need the Stoics. I could pray for the Spirit, for the strength and endurance of Jesus Christ, for Thy will be done but I need my main dudes Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, Epictetus, Zeno of Citium. Actually, I probably need it all. I NEED IT ALL. Just like I needed all the alcohol and drugs I could get.

yeah, republicans largely pro-choice 30 years ago, they all changed their position and became pretend christians over night, they needed voters from some minority parts of the public as no one votes for neoliberal capitalism.

I would if I could. I don't actually believe in a god though is the problem. The "Gospels In Brief" by Tolstoy is a great story. Jesus is a bad motherfucker. I want to believe.... Martin Luther King Jr. was having like orgies and shit apparently. Apparently Ghandi beat his wife. Jesus from the stories was just a baaaddd motherfucker. I would love to be reborn high as fuck on "opium" all the time but I think I have to find another way. Motherfucking existence eh?

Also, 0% of USA politicians are openly athiest in the history of USA politics. It's a "Christian" nation as far as that goes. That's why I love Tolstoy's strategy to throw it back in the face of the government. Don't pay taxes because it's not Christian. Don't serve in mandatory military service because it's not Christian. Paying taxes and serving in the military aren't Christian in fact. But the government and the churches have pushed this false "Christianity" and linked it with the state it is fucking absurd. I've been over this before but the license plates here in my state say "In God We Trust" with a USA flag and state flag. The 5th commandment of Jesus is to love all our brothers and sisters equally. That includes the illegal immigrants even the Muslims.

So, I actually agree with the 5 commandments of Jesus except for no relations with women before marriage and maybe "resist not evil." I'm still unsure on "resist not evil."

So, I don't believe in god and I don't believe in all of the commandments so I think that leaves me as a heathen that is still probably more Christian than the majority of people who claim to be "Christian." My salvation seems to always come back to the Stoic philosophers and science even though the 12 step programs urge me to be more spiritual.

So, I am reading this book Loco suggested to me ages ago (I miss Loco). As far as I can tell it's how we humans (and cognition) came to be. But they spent some time talking about how stars came into existence and then planets and then how on Earth it was quite a nasty cocktail there for a while but it was one that led to water, proteins, algae, bacteria, and eventually to more complex living beings. It makes a lot of sense. I find it hard to believe in a god given the information that we have. We are the children of the earth meaning we are the children of star matter. Is god behind the star matter? Does it make sense that god would be behind the star matter and also cares about what I'm doing on a Monday? I guess if he was that all powerful he could do whatever he wants. It just seems more likely that there were explosions of elements that formed stars and planets and galaxies and in Earth's case living beings. I don't know. I'm not a Physics stud. Maybe my brother who sold out his processing power to JP Morgan Chase would know. PhD in Physics and now he's doing data science for the enemy. Hard to blame him really. Jamie Dimon was complicit in the poisoning of the water in Flint, Michigan. Who knows what else those criminals have been up to? I still love my bro though. I don't agree with what he's doing but it's his life not mine. I think he's indoctrinated enough to not let it bother him or even be an annoyance below the subconscious somewhere.

I do want to learn more about this stuff though it's fascinating.

But about the god. If you think about it how self-centered are these fuckers that they think god cares about them. Maybe he/she does. It's kind of outside of my scope. It's like ok, these elements created stars, these elements created planets, and these elements created proteins, and these elements created living beings. I can get that. It makes a lot of sense. I just don't know where god fits into that. I want the opium. Give me the fucking opium but it all doesn't make sense. Maybe I've spent too much time on this already. In all likelihood I'm just a consciousness in a fragile bag of meat in an infinite of multiverses. My first instinct is hedonism but I've been down that road before. I read, I walk, I paint, ....

Fuck it man, I'm on vacation I shouldn't be brooding on here but here I am. I get to see all my brothers and sisters and nephews soon. That makes me happy. I'm away from the damn wage slavery for some days. That makes me happy.

I'll still be thinking about life though. Always. Contemplative life 4 life.

Gay sex is sodomy. No different to fucking a horse or a cat or a dog. But you can fuck cows, pigs, and chickens. No one cares about those guys.

I actually don't know where I stand on abortion. I never really looked into the science of it. I mean if we are just killing the equivalent of a bivalve what's the big deal? I don't even kill cockroaches though so it seems a little tenuous to kill something with a heartbeat. And I suppose the "Christians" think it has a soul from conception or whatever. I always just default to it's not my body so it's not my call.

RiKD    United States. Dec 17 2019 02:47. Posts 8520

But if abortion really is murder than me turning a blind eye to it is pretty bad. Similar to turning a blind eye to the 300+ million cows that get murdered in a year. But these are "humans" getting murdered to the tune of about a milly a year. 9 fucking billion chickens are murdered each year for food! Chick-Fil-A doesn't seem as Christ-like anymore. 1 million "human" goo things has to be not nearly as bad as a staggering 9 fucking billion chickens. Like, I personally know people that have 1+ million USD but I don't know anyone personally with 9 fucking billion USD. "On any given day in the USA there are 75 million pigs (SUFFERING) on factory farms." That's a great thought. We have to liberate those darlings. Bacon is not that good.

But remember I am a hypocrite. I ate dinner at McDonald's tonight. 2 cheeseburgers, medium fry, and a Coca-Cola. It was $6 for roughly 900 or so calories. I am really poor. I don't always want to eat PB&J or rice and beans. I know I know there are other options but it is what it is. I wish the fucking government subsidized sustenance but no it subsidizes McDonald's. I want a sane daily bread not a pleasure trap and a roadway to obesity and heart disease. The biggest thing about McDonald's is that it is fast, super easy, and it just fucking works. I don't want it to work but it works even if I hate myself a little bit for going there. But with a large car repair bill that set me back a lot and a car insurance bill I'm not sure if I can pay. I just have to wait to pay until it goes on the next month's credit card bill and hope and pray and eat fast food and PB&Js. That is my life. The life of a poor. I know I could do the research myself but does anyone have any suggestions for good peasant food? I feel like I should know this because I like food and I like different peasant foods but just throwing it out there because I need some variety and I need to STOP eating fast food.

Peasant food is very unhealthy as well. I ate peasant food in Nepal for a week and it was rice and lentils every single meal. They have one of the highest stunted growth rates

There is arsenic in the rice but what is wrong with lentils?

Lentils are a great food. You are going to have to show me some evidence on how lentils are not a great food and also that they in some way cause stunted growth rates.

One-half cup of cooked lentils has:
Calories: 140.
Fat: 0.5 grams.
Carbs: 23 grams.
Fiber: 9 grams.
Sodium: 5 milligrams.
Protein: 12 grams.

In fact, it has inspired me to start fucking more with lentils. I could probably prepare something with some basmati rice, lentils, and curry sauce that serves 4 relatively easily. Of course, eating it for lunch and dinner 2 days in a row is the problem. I really don't mind preparing stuff most days and I even enjoy it it's just the fact by the 3rd or 4th serving it can be a chore to want to eat the stuff again. That's why I need a lot of peasant food choices in rotation. Or whole food plant based fast food that doesn't get their tomatoes from ridiculous labor (Chipotle).

Stroggoz   New Zealand. Dec 18 2019 22:49. Posts 5296

not saying it's unhealthy, the restriction to 1-2 foods for an entire life is unhealthy, that's what i mean when i said peasant food is bad for you. lentils are obviously fine and good for you. I'm assuming there are diets out there that give all the nutrients you need to be healthy while still being vegan, but I havn't looked into it. They won't be what peasants are eating though.
