Barao is an idiot for taking this rematch so soon, and especially taking the rematch in Sacramento of all places. Sacramento is home to team Alpha Male, and Dillashaw is adopted son of the city.

The odds are stacked against Barao in this fight, so he needs to win ITD, or else face losing by decision or potentially get finished again.

barao got clipped at the beginning and could not recover. not to take away from dillashaw but a rematch would definitely be a more even fight. TJ fought a perfect 25 minute fight

lmao... Did you read what you wrote before you clicked Send?

- You admit that Barao got clipped and it troubled him for the rest of the fight.
- You assume that a rematch would be more even, which means you don't think Dillashaw can't clip him again.
- Yes, TJ did fight a perfect fight. Why couldn't he do that in the rematch? Barao's tendencies were already made clear in the Jack Slack article prior to the fight, and he also wrote a follow-up piece on how TJ capitalized on those tendencies.

Dillashaw is the champ and he said he refused a rematch in Brazil as Barao wanted and obviously the UFC is going to push a rematch in Dillashaws city and if you arent the champ you dont get to call the shots, so he isnt an idiot, he has to fight there if he wants an immediate title shot

It's a fight with small gloves between two elite MMA fighters, how can you be so sure it's going to be the same fight? Obviously Barao did not recover from that first hit which couldve been GG for most fighters and he was in fact kind of bewildered the whole fight, he's going to make adjustments.

from what i remember hearing barao's camp thought the performance wasn't so much from tj's brilliance but more of him being hurt a lot in that first rd. So I can see why they would want a rematch asap. Why would they assume that it would play out that way again with him being hurt early and raped for 4 rds? Who would assume that and not want a rematch asap.

Now from my pt of view it was more of tj's awesome performance haha. but i dont blame them for wanting a 2nd go asap.

I don't buy the "Barao got clipped" argument. He wasn't as good as the hype machine told you (he lost a round vs Wineland and bullshit stoppaged a washed up, injured Faber) and TJ is way better than anyone knew and is only getting better and had Barao confused prior to the punch that rocked him (that's why the punch worked). The way we viewed the fight changed after that overhand right but the momentum was already waayyyy on TJ's side. I need to re-watch to be sure but I have seen it twice and I can't believe the odds are this close on the rematch. If they stay the same I'm putting a big one on TJ.

TJ, DJ (I do think Scoggins could beat him in maybe 2-3 yrs), Cain and Weidman (barring injuries in his case) are holding the belts for years to come IMO.

Jones is amazing but I don't believe he is getting much better anymore, just different, and his division is super top-heavy especially with the emergence of Rumble (the chances he beats DC, Gus, and Rumble if they were to all happen consecutively are probably about 50/50 although I favor him individually in every fight). If he did win those 3 fights, UFC should ask him to move up to fight Cain for a chance at unquestioned GOAT status. Than again, maybe another prospect just like Jones emerges and he has more legit contenders.

Hendricks is still a pretty flawed fighter (cardio, weight-cut, striking defense). and won't be champ long in such a stacked division - hate to agree with UFC hype machine but I think Rory will be the one to take the belt, maybe Robbie, maybe Lombard

Aldo is getting older/drug testing is getting tougher and I think he loses very soon.

Pettis is awesome and I think he's the best individual LW but won't hold up over the long haul against the stacked wrestlers and just insane LW division.

As far as WMMA there isn't enough competition or talent yet for it to even be interesting (besides Rousey ofcourse). The Carano thing is a joke, Cyborg off the juice trying to make 135 prolly get's smoked if it even happens (although that would actually interest me if it did), and the chances Holly Holm can become a competent enough grappler to be able to have a chance to strike with Rousey is slim/none.

Sorry to hi-jack thread but I'm on adderall and want to get these thoughts out. I hope you have fun at 177, shame it's not 178 in Sacramento which on paper looks like the best main card in quite a while.

I don't think Barao is an idiot for taking it now at all. You gotta think from their point of view. First of all he's not the champ anymore so it's not like he gets to choose where and when the fight is taking place. Second.. in the UFC you are only as good as your last fight. So yea, TJ made Barao look bad in his last fight. If Barao says "it's too soon for me" then he will be matched up against another top fighter and if he loses again, BOOM back of the line. So I think he made the right decision by taking the fight that was offered to him. It's just a shame that it's a bit too soon. He may not have enough time to adjust to TJ's style.

About TJ holding the belt for a long time... I'm not sure about it. He may be able to do it but this division is very competitive imo and TJ lost to Assuncao less than a year ago. He is 28 now and it's not like he reinvented himself in the next 'GOAT'. So we will just have to wait and see what happens imo.
