| | Ah 8h by ReDDcaFFe by ReDDcaFFe, January 21
His first real day in office! I thought he kicked ass yesterday in an awesome inauguration. I've never really watched more than the swearing in but this year it was entertaining all the way through. I thought he and his family were fantastic. And it was amazing to see so many people turn out for it. Over 2 million people (and that's the underestimate) when the biggest inauguration turnout before that was 1.2 million. Comparing this with the 2004 inauguration where people were throwing tomatoes at Bush's limo during the parade to the white house is pretty crazy.
Anyway I'm back into news whoring for a bit since now we can see what he actually DOES and decide what we think of him based on that rather than on all the BS people have gotten worked up about during the president-elect period. I'm gonna keep a list today and see what happens. I'll try and put up all the articles I get the info from as well. Enjoy.
| | Done:
1) Executive orders for ethics for his staff, especially giving stricter rules in regards to lobbyists and ex-staff ability to interact with the white house.
2) Pay freeze to all top white house staff.
3) Passed 825 billion economic recovery package in the house.
4) Called and talked with leaders of Israel, Palestine, Jordan and Egypt.
5) Executive order for freedom of information act to be even more open.
6) Ordered 120-day halt to prosecutions @ gitmo to review military commissions that are hearing the cases
7) Sent letter to all federal agencies telling them to halt any new regulations until Obama's staff can analyze em.
To be done (according to his chief off staff):
1) Meet with economic team
2) Meet with top brass from pentagon and order all us troops out of Iraq in 16 months (as he promised he would do during the campaign)
3) Order reversal of "mexico city" policy which stops federal money from going to any family planning groups that promote abortion or even refer to abortion services. |
Pretty good start imo. But like Obama said, it's not enough to fix any of the major problems and more needs to be done. But I think he's off in the right direction and I'm happy so far.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Promising "a new era of openness in our country," President Barack Obama signed executive orders Wednesday relating to ethics guidelines for staff members of his administration.
"Transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency," Obama said.
Among other things, Obama said he would issue a pay freeze for his senior staff.
The new president has also promised swift action on the beleaguered economy. House Democrats, at Obama's urging, have signed a $825 billion economic recovery package that the president says will save or create up to 4 million jobs and invest in health care, energy and education.
House Republican leaders, however, asked to meet with Obama on Thursday to offer major changes to the recovery proposal.
"The challenge as we see it is to create a plan that helps middle-class taxpayers and small businesses without wasting money or exploding our national deficit," the leaders wrote in a letter to the new president.
Rep. Paul Ryan, the top Republican on the House Budget committee, argued that the main tax provision in the Democrats' plan -- cutting payroll taxes -- was not an effective way to jump-start the economy.
House Republican Conference Chairman Mike Pence declined to say whether the Democrats' package would get any Republican support if it didn't change significantly.
Obama began his first full day in office with a moment of solitude in the Oval Office, reading a note from his predecessor, before making phone calls to Middle East leaders.
Obama arrived in the Oval Office and spent 10 minutes alone, reading a note left for him in the desk by outgoing President George W. Bush.
White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel met with the president 10 minutes later to discuss the daily schedule, Gibbs said.
Obama called Middle East leaders, including King Abdullah of Jordan, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Gibbs said.
On Sunday, Israel and Palestinian militants declared a cease-fire after 22 days of fighting in Gaza.
First lady Michelle Obama joined her husband in the Oval Office at 9:10 a.m., shortly before the first couple departed for the National Prayer Service at the Washington National Cathedral.
Later in the day, Obama is expected to meet with his economic team and top brass from the Pentagon. iReport.com: What do you think Obama should do first?
He plans to tell the top U.S. officers that he wants them to plan to have combat forces out of Iraq in 16 months, as he promised during his election campaign, an adviser said.
"It's something he still believes is a responsible timetable," White House adviser David Axelrod told CNN. "But they'll discuss it. Everyone agrees that we need to be on a pace to withdraw our troops, and how that will be implemented I'm sure will be something he'll discuss."
Gen. David Petraeus, whose command oversees U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, is expected to attend the meeting, CNN learned Tuesday. Petraeus, who will have just arrived from Afghanistan and Pakistan, is expected to brief Obama on the latest developments in the troubled region.
Obama's administration was already in action Tuesday, ordering a 120-day halt to prosecutions of suspected terrorists at the U.S. prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to review the military commissions that try them.
Papers filed at the U.S. prison camp said the request is made "in the interest of justice and at the direction of the president of the United States."
The president also is expected to order a reversal of the Bush administration's so-called "Mexico City" policy, which prohibits U.S. money from funding international family planning groups that promote abortion or provide information, counseling or referrals about abortion services.
Chief of Staff Emanuel sent a memo to all federal agencies and departments to halt consideration of pending regulations throughout the government until the new staff can examine them, White House officials told CNN.

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama's first public act in office Wednesday was to institute new limits on lobbyists in his White House and to freeze the salaries of high-paid aides, in a nod to the country's economic turmoil.
Announcing the moves while attending a ceremony in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building to swear in his staff, Obama said the steps "represent a clean break from business as usual."
The pay freeze, first reported by The Associated Press, would hold salaries at their current levels for the roughly 100 White House employees who make over $100,000 a year. "Families are tightening their belts, and so should Washington," said the new president, taking office amid startlingly bad economic times that many fear will grow worse.
Those affected by the freeze include the high-profile jobs of White House chief of staff, national security adviser and press secretary. Other aides who work in relative anonymity also would fit into that cap if Obama follows a structure similar to the one George W. Bush set up.
Obama's new lobbying rules will not only ban aides from trying to influence the administration when they leave his staff. Those already hired will be banned from working on matters they have previously lobbied on, or to approach agencies that they once targeted.
The rules also ban lobbyists from giving gifts of any size to any member of his administration. It wasn't immediately clear whether the ban would include the traditional "previous relationships" clause, allowing gifts from friends or associates with which an employee comes in with strong ties.
The new rules also require that anyone who leaves his administration is not allowed to try to influence former friends and colleagues for at least two years. Obama is requiring all staff to attend to an ethics briefing like one he said he attended last week.
Obama called the rules tighter "than under any other administration in history." They followed pledges during his campaign to be strict about the influence of lobbyist in his White House.
"The new rules on lobbying alone, no matter how tough, are not enough to fix a broken system in Washington," he said. "That's why I'm also setting rules that govern not just lobbyists but all those who have been selected to serve in my administration."
In an attempt to deliver on pledges of a transparent government, Obama said he would change the way the federal government interprets the Freedom of Information Act. He said he was directing agencies that vet requests for information to err on the side of making information public _ not to look for reasons to legally withhold it _ an alteration to the traditional standard of evaluation.
Just because a government agency has the legal power to keep information private does not mean that it should, Obama said. Reporters and public-interest groups often make use of the law to explore how and why government decisions were made; they are often stymied as agencies claim legal exemptions to the law.
"For a long time now, there's been too much secrecy in this city," Obama said.
He said the orders he was issuing Wednesday will not "make government as honest and transparent as it needs to be" nor go as far as he would like.
"But these historic measures do mark the beginning of a new era of openness in our country," Obama said. "And I will, I hope, do something to make government trustworthy in the eyes of the American people, in the days and weeks, months and years to come."

| | [NL25] shot Day 1 by Uptown, January 21
I had 14bi's for NL25, and decided to take a Maynard style shot for about 2-3 bi's. I'm super confident in NL10 atm even discouting for the ridiculous heater I'm in, so I was comfortable with losing 1/6 my BR or w/e. However, I WOULD definitely move down asap if things didn't go well.
This also coincided with my renewed commitment for constructing a sound daily routine for getting hands in while in great mental condition. I woke up, had something to eat, stretched, then hit the tables.
Played for 2.5 hours and just stopped 5 mins ago since my concentration was waning. Started with 4 tables, gradually went up to 6. Everything felt comfortable, although a lost more of the tables were filled with 25/15 types than NL10. If you look in my hand history you'll find a few notable hands, though mostly uninteresting "play" wise. I still seem to be betting too much postflop, with an AF of 5.1 and Cbet rate of 80%+. Hopefully I can adjust those appropriately.
*drumroll*

| | Seeking LT MTT Stake by NewBornBaby, January 21
Hey All-
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc252/GV2007/OPR.jpg
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc252/GV2007/SharkScope.jpg
Hey All –
I am currently looking for a backer to stake me for all freezeout MTTS (would include the 12 180s and 38 180s) up to $215 (SM, Sun 2nd Chance) and all rebuys up to the $55R. My OPR stats and Sharkscope are listed above. I feel that I am a +EV investment for those that wish to take on this staking opportunity. I have a great knowledge of the game and have greatly improved my game in the past year as the stats have shown. I usually play 6 out of the 7 days of the week but with tax season coming around and me being an accountant I would have to scale it down to 3-4 days a week. (2-3 grind sessions during the week and Sunday) When I do play, I do put in a high volume per session. I am looking to move out and feel that a staking opportunity will help me release my funds online to doing so. If I find a backer, there will be only staking money left in account at all times. IRL info and passwords will also be provided.
Specific terms and percentages can be discussed via PM or AIM.
For the most part I’ve been on my own money but have been backed by nutshot2 and PoorUser. I’ve had great success with nutshot making him close to 3-4k under a $1500 stake. I did not do as well with PoorUser since my bankroll management skills at the time were pretty terrible (about a year ago). Any mistakes I made with PoorUser I did pay him back for and both nutshot and PoorUser can vouch to both my integrity and honesty. I have a great network of poker friends that have always been willing to help me in my growth in the poker scene.
Please PM me if interested or shoot me an e-mail at GVibar86@gmail.com
Thanks All!

P.S. Will be bumping this Post on 2p2 as well.

| | 2/3rd of the month has past.~ by Night2o1, January 21
And god damn the past week or so has been swingy for me. I've already exceeded my hand goal for the month (I wanted 40-50k hands) @ 55k hands, and I am looking towards a 65-70k hand month. My month's goal is to have 10+bi of profit at nl50 and solidify myself as a winner there. With bonus/rakeback this will be my first 2k+ month so long as I don't run into some ugly downswing. I'm at $1550 if you include rakeback/bonuses.
I really am confident that I can beat nl50 and I am improving my game every day. After the thread "Talent is overrated" I was thinking about my approach to poker again, and I have decided to try and reinstate 1-2hour session at a time with breaks inbetween. This will let me really concentrate and actively learn while I play, instead of just grinding.
I will come up with some goals for feb. at the end of the month, as a lot can hinge on the next 10 days. I REALLY hope I don't have to spend too much time on class (I shouldn't have to, except math -_-). I'm thinking 55k+ hands should be my goal for next month, and definitely a 2k+ month.
I tilted after running bad during the last downswing there, which really sucks, and I'm focusing on making sure that doesn't happen much (which it doesn't..yay). It is stupid have to run-bad amplified by tilt and that downswing didn't need to be that big.
I also blew a buyin with an accidental misclick LOL OOPS
4bi below EV, oh well :O

| | Profitability sessions by NeillyJQ, January 21
As stated in my recent blog, I've been playing SnG's, mostly HU SnG's and some of the double or nothings
(SG-Hattan from SC told me to give them a shot, followed his advice and did well)
So I've played 3 sessions so far
This is roughly 4.5 hrs of play
I accidently joined a PLO hu SnG and lost, so i joined another and won it to be even in that aspect (except THE RAKE got me for like .50)
Strategy
Double/Nothin - get chips n go into LDP
HU SnG's - just play your normal HU game
1/20/09
$5 double or nothings - avg session 8 - 14 games
Session 1 : 90min Profit $31 $5.40 Double or Nothing (non turbo)
Session 2 : 1hr Profit $4 $5.40 Double or Nothing (turbo)
HU SNG's - avg session 14 - 40 games
session 1 : 90 min Profit $20 $11 HU SnG's (turbos)
session 2 : 60 min Profit $70 $11/$23 HU SnG's (turbos)
http://www.liquidpoker.net/hand/hand.php?hand=613770
$126 in my first 2 days, 5 hours played, at my first days at this, I think this is way better than playing cash, that would probably take me 11 hrs to grind out on NL10. Therefore, I will continue to grind HU SnG's mainly and play some NL25 FR or double or nothings when I wanna just chill and kick it down a gear.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/949975a260ebc7d24826578acfb572ea.jpg
I also tried a couple midlimit ones to see the competetion difference which was really, really simple, most the players through each limit on HU SnG's that I've tried are not even comparable to a 1bb/100 winner at NL50 HU
All in all, I'm very happy with how the HU SnG's are, since you rarely play the same person over and over, which keeps my ego at bay and allows me to just play my A game
Also, if you lose the game, the worst that happens is 1bi loss, instead of getting deeper and deeper against a player you may not have an edge vs, or a player that may be running in god mode
The double or nothing SnG's are very profitable and i reccomend them to anyone who can intellectually think through SnG's, I pulled 8bi profit my first run of 12 of them, 2nd run I ran into alot of big hands and didn't do to well though, just a small profit
So, I'm going to do more sessions of the $5 double or nothings to find what kind of roi I can expect in the long run, after I have 5-6 full sessions put in, then I'll decide if they are as profitable if not more profitable than SnG's / micro stakes cash
I like the Double/Nothins because its very very hard to lose itlr* as long as you can win 52% of your games which is really easy imo
HU SnG's are turning out to be the easiest games I've ever played, I would be up a 100-200 but I've been sucked out on a ton in my first session (getting ppl down to 300 chips and them coming back with random trash - happened like 4 times) (and losing ai pf's at 50/100 A9 vs A4 etc) - no worries though, variance swings both ways
Its all good though, I'll give them another go tonight or tomorrow or sometime soon and keep LP posted on whats going on, I'm considering switching to HU SnG's permanantly with a mix of MTT's (since they are the same format, and while in MTT's, it will encourage me to keep grinding SnG's)
Obviously in the beginning while my roll is under 1k, I can't play many big MTT's, but I'll get in the 3rebuy and some $2 - $8.80 tournaments often and slam one out soon
for now im gonna go relax, get high and eat, on a really wacky sleep schedule
I'm enjoying these game selections very much, although idk if the double or nothings will be around for a long time or not, but I do know the HU SnG players are just terrible and I can dominate all the way up.
I'd like to build my roll up enough where I can play HU SnGs on one monitor and some MTT's on the other
This by no means, means that I'm quitting cashgames, because obviously thats not even close to the scenario, but I definitaley have 0% drive to play HU cash now and see it as -ev except for a few scenarios where I find it to be profitable.
What it does mean is that I hate grinding microstakes, I have tilt issues in cashgames from time to time (avg 1/8 days I tilt like a monkey and spew a ton of money)
I set a new stop loss that I can actually follow instead of overlooking
(10 buy-ins for cash)
(16 buy-ins for SnG) - more for sng's since usually have many running, and u can't really quit in the middle of a session with 6 tables still up
To finish this off, I've always been a tourney player, no matter how u look at it, its been my bread and butter, and its where I don't get rolled.
About 2 years ago rekrul said it right, "tourney donks luckbox big wins then go spew it at mid/high limits"
Well, I fullfilled that proficy for years, and believe me, it was something that ego drove me to do, there was no logic or thoughts from the heart while taking these ridiculous endeavors.
I'll be playing FR cashgames again soon as well when I'm looking for smaller sessions, although I think HU SnG's are going to be way more profitable itlr
OK, kinda baked and rambled on for a long time, just kinda thinking while I type, if you read it all then your a hero and you should probably reward yourself :-)
BR : 515.25
Edit : One of LP's 2/4 - 5/10 players (a good friend) offered me a $150 tournament stake for tournaments, I'm pretty sure I'll play these under my moms account so we can track them on OPR w/ no confusion.
tyatrnaisrfomnelliy - wonder if anyone can't read this on the first try

Iam pretty happy about this so I make my where there together with my german fella.
Unfortunetly there is only 1 girl left and nobody was looking like they want to have an orgy and this girl somehow managed to like my friend... so I picked up my phone game and called 1 of their friends I saw on a pic hanging on the wall.
Because there is only 1 bed in the room I had to sleep on the 2 couches we put together.
After some sleep I wake up from some ridicolous loud music...I tried to ignore it and after 5 minuites it hit me that there was a reason why they turned the music...obv they want to cover some other noises
So I hop onto the flow and do this girl on the couch while theyre ****ing on the bed, later on we go down to OTLs girl room and get provided with a matress going for round 2.
Good times.

I apologize for the time you guys might waste reading my blog, but I am bored, high, and on adderol so enjoy lol.
School just started for me today and I was actually pretty excited for winter break to end. A college town without college students is pretty lame fyi. Anyways, this semester I really loaded up on courses for my Major/Minor(Psychology/Philosophy). I am taking Child Psych, Research Methods in Psych, Cognitive Psych, Philosophy Principles of Thought, and some Communications liberal arts requirement. Best of all, I will be working under the head of the Psychology Dept., who happens to specialize in Cognitive and Developmental Psych. I got accepted into the Undergrad Research program and I am ecstatic I get to work under her. School should be fun this semester, I am definitely excited.
Poker has been going pretty well the past few months despite the lack of time put in. I took my first shot at 200NL and it didnt go so well so I am back to 100NL til I grind out like 10 buyins. I have been murdering the 50 and 100NL games lately, hopefully I can actually run decent next time I take a shot.
As far as life in general goes, its been pretty uneventful. I went on a cocaine binge from the 27th of December until the 12th? of January. It was fun while it lasted but not something anyone should really mess with. Other than that, nothing new has come up recently, still smoking hella weed and slaying mass sluts, living the dream basically. Anyways thats all for now, deuces

| | [NL10] Days 7-8 by Uptown, January 21
Switched from PT3 to HEM on day 7, never looking back ever. Holy crap this software is amazing! So much fun screwing around with all the little things <3.
Overall I'm pretty happy with my play, I think I need to cbet less into stationy players, as well as not being stationy myself. Those are the 2 biggest leaks for me right now. The betting with air'ish hands into stations is being reflected by my high AF (5) I think, and I'm really not pleased about that. Really want to get my stats to what Snider's are here in his blog where he has similar VPIP/PFR to me but far lower AF.
Getting enough hands in per day is my #1 task for this week. Going to be sleeping early and waking up to play before I get tired in the evening after taking care of tasks. Last 2 days I got 2 hours in, but b/c I 4 table normal speed tables, that still translates to only 500-600 hands, and that's just not acceptable. I set out 2009 with playing 1000/day as one of my goals, and I've already failed on it. I'm considering moving up to 6 tables though since I'm much more comfortable with my decision making than I was 10 days ago when I was overhauling my game for moving back up to NL10, so I think I'll try this out tomorrow. Doubt I'll be going up to 8 though, although with slow tables I guesssssssssss it's an option.
Can't complain with the winrate, now I just have to put in the hands!
Here's the graph~
